We all know Cheryl has been caught miming etc in the past which makes people believe that she cant sing, HOWEVER, all Cheryl's songs involve dancing which makes her voice not as good. When she sings ballads like this her voice is so calming and beautiful! Well done Cheryl, this seriously made me realise that you ARE talented!
@2:20 you see the ear piece but even so amazing.
This proves she can sing and she sounds amazing
love her so much
Cheryl may not have the most powerful voice going, but - she knows how to use her abilities to the full. Especially here. Very emotional. Looking and sounding great chezza! :)
This song always reminds me a vulnerable time in my life. I love it and at the same time it brings me a lot of pain.
Listening during covid times
Gary you are a legend!!
Brilliant. Gives me goose bumps all over. Not an easy song to do well. The naturally electric overtone in Cheryl Cole's voice is very charming and makes her very unique. Blends much better with Gary's voice than the original female singer's. Great.
Best i've ever heard her sing. However, this song is so easy to sing. Even i can do it.
This has increased my love for cheryl cole x
hate it when people say she can't sing, i think everybody things to sing well you have to have a belting voice, well you don't and this is a perfect example of singing absolutely amazing singing softly at the same time!
I have watched this 20 times at least ,and every time, it's just perfect i love this.
gorgeous cheryl !!!
This suddenly came into my mind today...and now I'm back here in 2023! One of my favourite lives ever. I adore this version! Cheryl's voice is stunning in this and their voices blend so well! Can't believe it's been over 13 years!
She also looks stunning 🎉❤😊
@@janemmb Absolutely!

I LOVE IT! IT'S WONDERFUL! THE BEST VERSION EVER
This is is great and she can actually sing. When she goes out of tune live it simply means that she can't hear her voice, which can be solved with a ear in,good monitors and balance..
Savage..absolutley brill..go cheryl :)
Love this song. Cheryl is great and an asset.
cheryl is so good at singing this song :-)
she should do more songs like this
love u cheryl dnt ever stop wat u r doin
xxxxxxxxxx
Love her voice here
Love cheryl voice
all the haters who thought she was bad...HA...shame on you.
its a beatiful song and both voices chime together!
This song is amazing. This duet is much better
A M A Z I N G :'D
This is a stunning performance!!
sick song
Ilovee you Cheryl! Xx
Cheryl is suprisingly good, I love this version!
Very Michael Stipe isn't he........Cheryl sounds fantastic in this song. One of my favourite Snow Patrol songs.
this works because you would'nt think the two would fit so well...
She does nice =) But I knew the other one, and I know it's the original. so I love it more. But I think she did great.
Everyone talking about Cheryl but Gary's voice is so strong in this, better than the studio version.
Cheryl sing this stuff!
Love it...go Cheryl
She is a media 'pop' artist not a singer..........there is a massive difference
não me canso de assistir ^^
She's sounds way better than the original singer and the recording version
Araminta Williams No... she is great, but better than the original?
Araminta Williams Martha makes the original - her tone, her unique voice. I like this performance, but it isn't better than the original
Elliot Johnson this is way better than the original!
Elliot Johnson trust me it is
Agreed, her voice is more feminine and the emotion she tied in her singing definitely sound as an improved version to my ears.
@elmarito007 well its a powerful song and hes obviously very passionate about his music
@w6264n drink some tea with honey before you lecture and some tea with lemon after you lecture!! it soothes your vocal cords its the best thing you could do to prepare!! and dont lecture on an empty stomach because water etc doesnt coat your vocal cords which makes them wear faster!! hope this helps :)
She said "face" instead of "place" in that first verse :P
love her! ;o
harmonies? it's all in unison
The lines "I'm miles from where you are" and "I pray that something picks me up" are clearly harmonized.
11 years ago I probably cared more than I do now, but yes. After two minutes of repetitive unison, there are two lines of weakly harmonised vocals.
If that's your vibe, that's great and I'm happy you enjoy it.
i really don't like cheryl cole, but if she did songs like this all the time, i probably would.
@Thedahdumdum I know what you mean but she's quite lovely nevertheless
why did they choose someone who is completely false to play along side the most honest band ever
he blasted her off the stage with his voice his stature his performence as a frontman
she cant hold her voice at the same pitch
snow patrol worked hard for their fame
she won a tv
i just dont think that snow patrol would pick her as their first choice to replace martha wainwright
but maybe they did it to show that gary can carry the song by himself as cheryl mase well not be there
@Qmark12866 what......ever
" i touch your face where'd I find your face" tut tut wrong lyrics cheryl
well, you have to give credit for her singing
i love the song! thats why it irritated me a little
Hilarious, i never noticed that before
I like how Gary Lightbody just goes along with it. 0:55
hahhahahaha i have listened to this a thousand times and never noticed.... hahahahhaha
This is the best shes ever sung, ever
WORD!
Proper music Cheryl! Fantastic
@@svphicss this was a great performance. The Jubilee performance with Gary Barlow... wasn't, and she was standing still then.
Best song she ever song you mean
Love the song , love the artists! It's Feb 14, 2022 I must have watched this performance hundred times and it is absolutely amazing. Cheryl is stunning and her calm vocals meshed with Gary's perfectly.
I’m here with ya
Yep, still here listening to these two…anyone else? They should’ve done a collab a long time ago. The vocal dynamics are insane.
I still love this version of the song too! Cheryl really nailed this performance
@@robbevevo1381 sheer brilliance I tell ya!!
I actually want to cry. Cheryl sounds so perfect, I adore her voice in this performance. Outstanding.
You're all actually pathetic saying 'she's shit', 'he's supporting her', 'she said one word wrong'. You might not like her but you can't deny she sounds good? Okay she aint the best but she definitely ain't bad.
Gary and Cheryl's voices actually go well together.
They really don't
He originally wrote the song for Martha Wainwright, who recorded it with him, but she was too busy to tour with him
So in love with this version! It’s 2022 and it’s as beautiful as it was the first time I heard it! Perfection! ❤️
Seconded, couldn’t be happier to find this video in full as I remember
Cheryl's greatest performance vocally by far.
Girls aloud dancing on ice performance I love her vocals in that too 👌even tho I love all her songs/performaces
Sorry but vocally she’s terrible and pitchy, not just on this but every live performance she’s ever done.if it wasn’t for her looks and the X factor she’d being at butlins doing summer season
@@daveybaby10 are you listening to something different to me she's fantastic
I'm surprised by how much i enjoyed this song with cheryl.
I love how Gary is full of enthusiasm while singing, and his voice... brilliant :)
Yessss !! ... he is even giving everything on stage :-) perfect music from both, love it !
so true :) ariane11970
I remember watching this on TV when it first aired, I was 12. 6 years later, I'm re-watching it with chills running down my spine. I've admired Cheryl as a performer and person since I was 7, she's just stunning & I still adore her to pieces. :)
Do you still like her?
I started watching this when I was 4. I just refinanced my house at 35. But when I was 17, 18 years earlier I listened to it again. In another 26 and a half years I'll maybe still like it, maybe not.
cheryl’s pretty good! i feel like she’s more of a solo singer though, whereas martha’s voice complements gary’s more.
Absolutely love Gary’s performance in this. His voice is obviously bang on, his excitement is infectious and just brilliant live. 2.55 👌🏻👏🏻
I love this performance, cheryls voice is perfect in this,
Connecting to the music doesn't always mean showing it. Looking like a mad man doesn't mean your so connected. The night before this performance she confirmed her divorce, hardly gonna be in the mood for a duet performed to Thousands... Still she powered through.
He wrote it, arranged it, brought the girl in on it, and has sung it with loads of people... he's connected to it
They need to get this on iTunes bc I could listen to this all day but whenever I want to I have to go to RUclips bc this is the best version
I've never heard Cheryl sing like this before. She's note perfect.
@@svphicss she's inconsistent. Some performances like this she is good, and others not so much.
It works it really does. No matter what anybody says this is HER best performance.
Here 2021... and this song still gives me goosebumps. I remember watching it live on TV and how it made me feel then. Cheryl looks stunning and Gary on true form. A song that will never age👍
Always liked Cheryl. Cheryls voice is definitely at its strongest with songs like this. 😁 She should do more songs like this. Great tone.
She’s actually leading him. Wow
This is definitely one of her best vocals.
I just love watching Gary’s passion with his hands ❤️
I can't stop watching this ❤😍❤😍❤😍
I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms and state lines
The distance from here to where you'd be
It's only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place
Where I'd find your face
My fingers increases
Of distant dark places
I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I've found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science
Their word's mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me
I'm miles from where you are
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
After I have traveled so far
We'd set the fire to the third bar
We'd share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can't keep in
I'm miles from where you are
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
And miles from where you are
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
Wow, this is astoundingly great.
"i touched your face, where i'd find your face" - 0:55
Yeah noticed that..so did Gary!
lol yep
This is the best I have ever heard her sing! Not saying she is amazing but credit to her here. I do have to say though that it is thanks to Gary- he is really holding back, the female singer is normally haunting like in the background, this arrangement is more to aid Cheryl I'd say. She was concentrating so hard, not capable of any interaction with the person she is duetting with so it obviously doesn't come that naturally to her. I tdon't agree she is taking control of the song, I think Gary is very clever at letting us think that. I heart Gary.
Don’t agree ! No need for negativity
Who else is still listening to this beautiful song in 2022 I play it everyday it's amazing
Me!
I actully really like this version but I like marthas too.
13 years later, still the live concert is way better than studio record...
played thousands times since then and still loving it.
Listen to the Abbey Road version with Marta 💙
0:58 she says i touch your face instead of i touch the place and then he laughs for a bit :P
I love this! Cheryl's voice is perfect for it, I think this version is almost as good as the original.
Well that kind of shits on anyone who says she can't sing
I think because Cheryl has had dancing in her performances it’s going to be hard to keep the vocals up to a high standard because she’s out of breath but ballads like this one, shows of her vocals so much.
I prefer this version to the album version!
I love this version. I prefer this to the original with Martha, sounds so much better. Well done Gary and Cheryl, brilliant performance.
Such a stunning cover
Just beautiful
Cheryl is amazing! This is my favourite performance of hers, her voice is beautiful!
Nearly fell off my chair when I saw who walked on. Can't complain tbf. Prefer original but no complaints with this
Not only does Cheryl look absolutely breathtaking, she sounds so beautiful on the harmonies.
It sounds good but Gary's like "oh hi everybody I'm going to tear my heart out of my chest and give it to all you lovely people" and Cheryl's like "I'm singing."
This shut all the people up who were saying Cheryl can't sing, she has just demonstrated she has a beautiful voice.
She should do more duets, I think this is her biggest musical quality, she has an amazing ear and a very soft voice and can easily sing with almost anyone. Alone, she struggles but when she sings with someone else she brings out the best in her partners' voices and creates miracles like this!
Such a sad song. So beautifully sung on the night. Would be a liar if I did not look at the girl too, but her vocals were perfect for the duet.
Fav live performance vocal-wise by Cheryl. Still amazing in 2020💙
Cheryl’s voice sounds absolutely beautiful in this song, flawless
Nice to look at, and can sing after all.
Shear class , great performance
Wade Urich Learn some manners maybe?
Wade Urich learn to spell the f-word!
best I have ever heard Cheryl sing...Snow Patrol are amazing as always too and Cheryl sounds amazing too...shes such a amazing woman though! :) love this duet so much x
they are both great!
This is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gary desperately trying to hide his crush on her.
