Honestly shocked one of his friends is dating the bad friends. Like, this girl lied for her friend and ruined your friend’s life. She can and absolutely would lie to him too if she was cheating, and all those “friends” would help her hide it.

Of course the cheating mother doesn’t want him to say anything. I wouldn’t ever listen to the mom. If that was me I would purposely never listen to her.
    Cheaters suck.

It is likely related to her (mom's) reputation with her sister.
Cheaters always side with cheaters is a typical reddit trope.
In reality, people will not do unconventional things (in this case- not siding with her own son) unless they have selfish interests.
His mom will never do it 'just to protect his ex'. She has her own interests in it.

Something similar happened to me several decades ago. I tapped into the rage and anger using it to propel me to an Ivy league college and Ivy league graduate school. I have long since lost track of her, but she'll be hard pressed to do much better than how I am currently doing. Those women are truly the scum of the Earth.
I'm glad he told his aunt. You should use every advantage you have when someone wrongs you.

Never reveal your insecurities to a woman. They will always use it against you. She told everyone you couldn't satisfy her to soothe her concious, cheaters constantly assign negative traits to the person they cheated on to justify their cheating this can include: small peepee, abusive, emotionally neglectful. It doesn't have to be based on the truth, because it rarely is. The sole purpose of her doing this is purely because of her deflecting from her own insecurities and screw ups.

Op should not had hesitated on taking her ex gfs chances on scholarship. Like she used him without any remorse and never felt sorry, and made fun of him on top of that. She considers OP as a sacrificial lamb and for 100% she definitely would have thrown OP under the bus at any given chance. Never feel bad for people who could not care less, treat them back the way whome they consider you.

As an Indian, we have strong family bonds and marriage actually means something here apart from a contract. Cheating is either very hush and people somehow never get caught or deal with it silently, cause in the 23 years of my life, I have never seen or heard even a single occurrence of "Married Cheating". I don't even know a single person whose parents are divorced. NOT ONE. I see these posts mostly depicting life in the west and I feel that the grass isn't always green on the other side.

Marriage means something in the west, probably more than in India because we actually choose to marry someone we love.

This story is funny, because at the same time it seems obvious.
“OP tells his aunt and she destroys the girl's life”, technically it can also be a great way to destroy OP's aunt's career, since it's not right for the evaluator's nephew to influence her decision to whether or not accept the ex's application.
