Hello, I just happened to find your video. I have one 19 year old son (not from my husband) and I didn’t find out about my infertility until I got married almost 15 years ago. My husband doesn’t have any children and recently had his prostate removed due to cancer. We’ve been doing IVF for 14 years (on and off) I was diagnosed with PCOS😢 and I’ve had 2 miscarriages. I am at a point where hope and faith has left the building. I’ve shoved the yearning for more kids down into a dark hole, so I’m pretty numb these days. We’ve come super close to fostering two babies but each time was met with disappointment and no babies. My question to you is, how long was your adoption process? I’m afraid to attempt straight adoption because of the enormous cost connected to it. My husband and I live comfortable but not comfortable enough to afford straight adoption. Do you have any financial tips for people of middle/low class income to afford adoption?
I am sorry about your infertility and miscarriages. It is difficult to go through and I remember feeling pretty hopeless too but I encourage you to find support which helped us move forward in our journey. It took us about a year and a half from start to finish for our adoption. Adoption can be quite costly, especially international adoptions. Some organizations offer financial help. Domestic adoption is usually less. And with foster to adopt, you can receive aid. Foster care, as you are finding out, can take time and may be quite stressful since the goal of foster care is reunification. But I do have several friends who have successfully adopt through this route. I encourage you to call and compare several organizations that offer adoptions and compare their fees and to see if they have financial aid or advice.
