I just cannot believe they allowed total muppets in what is possibly the greatest rally car ever. Forget the Escorts and Subarus, this is the very car that won the famous Monty carlo rally back in 1964, with Paddy Hopkirk at the wheel. Its more than a legend, and is almost priceless.
I don't know about the other 2 but I wouldn't consider Mario fanchitti a muppet, also these cars should be driven and driven fast not just sat in an air-conditioned garage
I think this is not the actual car, it is the toolbox copy, at least one was made that I think Paddy Hopkirk has. The rally plate is not the original as that is very worn on the bonnet of the real car in Gaydon museum. You might be interested to know that i am meeting Paddy next month, my grandfather also won the Monte but in 1952. My grandfather and father were in the 64’ too, my father started number 38 directly behind this infamous car. My modern F57 red mini JCW is being decalled to very simliar to the new Paddy Hopkirk special but with the numbers as ‘38’, I can mount dads 38 plate on the bonnet in similar fashion. My plate was bent in half as dad came a cropper on a railway crossing in Russia and did not finish.
Everyone owes it to themselves to drive one of these at least once before they die. Preferably on a back road but slicing and dicing in traffic is a blast too. Did I detect rod knock?
I think it's great to have Marino Franchitti on here, he's a pro-level racing driver with years of racing classics too. So, no need for the 3 blokes thing, just let him drive it and give us his impressions. The 'banter' bit is painful and unnecessary.
I bought my brother's old L reg Mini Clubman from him as my first car. He installed a 1.5 engine from something else in the BL family and tuned it up. Ran like a piece of crap and stank of petrol, but I loved it, until I crashed.
Wheres Tiff? No offense to these guys but Tiff is 5th gear... Couldn't care less who these people are they aren't Tiff so I refuse to watch any 5th gear content without Tiff Needel, everyone that agrees should vote no! (downwards thumb) on the video not my comment just to clarify :)
They think that teasing it on RUclips will make you subscribe to an old school TV service so you'll go watch it on there. It's about as tone deaf of a call as modern marketing gets.
@@dr.h4nn1b4l8 the series is only on discovery plus. They think teasing it on RUclips will send you there. I'm trying to say I think they have no idea how marketing works these days.

I have a souped up replica of this car. 85bhp, 1330cc, 650 kgs. It is so much fun...
