Nice reaction and thanks for doing the Trilogy of light back to back and in the correct order. 😊 The trilogy is about the stages of grief, being "Starlight" about the initial ones: denial and anger. "Shine" is about the intermediates: bargaining and depression, also known as the inflection point. While "Arkadia" is about the final stage: acceptance, moving forward. "Arkadia" is by far my favorite of the three for many reasons and it's actually one of my favorite songs in general. I believe that the song fully defines myself and my music preferences. But "Shine" is an incredible song and I consider it one of Su-metal's finest works as a vocalist, specially that middle section right before the break. Faster than light, stronger than steel, without fear on the path of our mission, even if a certain amount of darkness covers up, let’s go through what we believed was the right path. - Arkadia - Until next time! 🤘🦊
I enjoyed all 3. Shine for the incredible vocal performance. ARKADIA is my favorite because of the message and high energy. I'm drawn to both of those things immensely. 🤘🦊🤘
I love the trilogy, and especially Shine. Sometimes when Su starts to sing, the pure sound of her voice makes me cry. So beautiful! Reading the lyrics and listening to the music with them in mind is really rewarding, I think. The music does a great job at bringing them to life.
That is the one drawback when doing these blind, it's hard to pay attention to everything all at once. You guys do a great job on filling in the meanings and what I missed. I appreciate that. 🙏 🤘🦊🤘
Thanks for doing the entire Trilogy of Lights, great reaction(s).🤘 Looks like you were already told what the Trilogy of Lights is about and how they describe the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close. 'Starlight' - the initial grief and even anger 'Shine' - acceptance and coming to terms with the loss 'Arkadia' - moving on (but not forgetting), looking to the future and better times to come. Together they could pretty much describe the year BABYMETAL had in 2018. I hope you will be able to find the Legend M performance of 'Shine' some time. That one really hit hard as it was just Su and Moa on stage with an acoustic guitar on a stand (which Moa 'played' ... actually probably didn't play it on the night but she may have pre-recorded the opening). That performance and imagery makes it hard to believe there is no truth in the theory that @Icipher353 has explained in the comments below - and coupled with the lyrics for 'Starlight' there are very few who will argue. My own favourite song of the Trilogy is 'Shine' (as I said, watch the Legend M performance some time, I think that may be Su-metal's finest vocal performance to date - but she is so good every time it is hard to compare), but Starlight is a great start and 'Arkadia' is so full of hope and optimism for the future.🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction! I love this epic performance. Arkadia is my favorite. The lyrics, music, and performance of these 3 songs takes one from grief due to loss (Starlight), into acceptance, with an eye towards a hopeful tomorrow (Shine), and finally the uplifting feel of Arkadia as a call to action to find courage to move towards our goals no matter the challenge. Widely believed by fans as an unofficial tribute to Mikio Fujioka, Kami East guitarist who passed away Jan 2018. He was an avid stargazer, a teacher to Takayoshi Ohmura, another Kami guitarist, and also taught Moa a few guitar lessons. RIP Mikio, what an amazing virtuoso! Look forward to more! 🤘🦊
I like the messages of all three. Definitely amazing to split those messages into 3 songs to get the right feelings for each. Really enjoyed this trilogy! 🤘🦊🤘
Although it has never been confirmed by anyone connected with Babymetal, based on the lyrics and the imagery that accompanies the live performances, the Trilogy of Lights is widely believed to be a tribute to the memory of their guitarist Mikio Fujioka, who tragically passed away in 2018 from injuries suffered in a fall while he was stargazing. The trilogy has been interpreted to be about the grieving process and finding hope to move on. Some people also believe that it might be a tribute to Yui as well, as Starlight was released the same day as the official announcement of Yui's departure from Babymetal, so the songs may well be a tribute to both of the friends they had lost along along the way. The trilogy are the last three songs on the Metal Galaxy album, so they are very much the finale (and the best songs on the entire record, imo). Their stage shows are pretty much unrivaled. That's why I keep going to Japan to see them live. There is nothing like Babymetal live in Japan.
The reason BABYMETAL doesn't give exact interpretations of songs like these is that they want us to interpret the songs ourselves. Could it be about Mikio? Maybe? Su said she thought of Yui when singing Starlight, and songs take years to produce for BM and the song was teased in October of the same year Mikio passed away. It is very possible the release of these songs just occurred this way. Now has this song become to represent Mikio or Yui? To some yes, to others no. All of this is going to fade more as we drift further and further in time from those events. BABYMETAL has obtained so many more fans now post-Yui, and post-that era in general, and I think it is perfectly acceptable that they should obtain their own meaning in the music. Many more are first discovering BABYMETAL with Momo, and I think when a certain part of the BM fan base keeps trying to make others relive their own BM experience instead of simply seeing it as the past, it does a serious disservice to not only Momo, but to Su, Moa, and even Yui who is now off living her own life.
@@Chadw1cKed I don't know if it's true or not, but the fact that Yui was also a keen stargazer, and the song released the same day as her resignation announcement does seem kind of odd if it wasn't intentional. But OTFGK.
@@Icipher353 I think my main issue with the idea of it being a tribute to Yui as well as Mikio, is the fact that, Yui didn't die. She chose to leave the industry. And for people to try and hold that up next to the death of Mikio, as if both events are somehow on the same level. That just makes no sense to me. It also seems extremely disrespectful to Mikio. That's what it looks like from where I'm standing, anyway. 😒
Great reaction! Very energetic and Su's impeccible breath control is not only natural talent, but they work very hard at it as well. In an interview, Moa said that when preparing for a world tour, they do 2 months of core training in addition to all of the regular rehearsals and dance practice. These ladies keep in shape! This was recorded at the Legend Metal Galaxy show. This was the only time the Trilogy of Lights was performed back to back in order and the Avenger dancing in the third spot was Riho Sayashi who is now a solo artist. Kitsune Da O!🤘🦊🤘
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。LMG (Legend Metal Galaxy) Day-2 at Makuhari is the one and only occasion where Trilogy of Lights was performed in a row. And West Kami Band, Chris Kelly (Guitar), C.J. Masciantonio (Guitar), Clint Tustin (Bass) and Anthony Barone (Drums), came all the way to Japan to play that day. (Day-1 was by East Kamis). There is a reason for anything. The sequence of the three songs has its own story that is destined to be ended by Arkadia, a song of hope. (Please refer to Grington300's comment) Su and Moa said about the serial performance in LMG as follows. (excerpt of answers in an interview in a magazine "Bessatsu KADOKAWA" issue of Oct. 2020 [Page 167-168] ... translated by myself). *********** Su : It may be something like a compiled history of BABYMETAL. Or may be a new start or a story in a different dimension. The performance, however, was a kind of our determination and I had an image like a work of huge spectacles. Moa : The trilogy part had a tremendous gravity with various feelings packed into it. I could have written a book for that. We also put a lot of sentiments into these songs. By the trilogy, I really wanted to send the messages of determination by Su-Metal and Moametal. Our passion will thrust BABYMETAL this way in the future. So it was emotionally touching even to me. *********** This interview was taken 3 years prior to New BABYMETAL's start in 2023. At that time, Su and Moa were struggling for what they should be in the future. If it were possible, I would like to tell them "Don't worry girls. You will regain a happily shining triangle formation a few years down the road."
Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🌌 This Trilogy Of Lights is really something special, that's why i like to recommend at least a couple of more songs from early era to really understand the feeling on this, it hits harder when knowing some more context around. It's a beautiful set of three songs to represent the ongoing cycle of birth, detah and rebirth. I suggest you to listen The One live at Tokyo Dome 2016 or official MV, a SuMetal solo such Rondo Of Nightmare, a Black Babymetal song such "Onedari Daisakusen", Babymetal Death and a couple of more songs and live performance from 2018 then later come back to this trilogy. It'll make your journey even better. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

While Babymetals songs are all different one of the things you can count on is they're going to give you a great performance. Su is always on point with the vocals. Moa said she focused on her dancing for this tour, and it shows even today. Moa skills as a dancer seem to get better all the time. But Many fans wish she got to do more singing as well. She did more backup vocals and harmonies for the Metal Galaxy album then any of the previous albums. While she focused on her dancing. Her singing improved as well. On the Other One. album her vocals are even better. The producer wanted Moa in Babymetal because of her compatible voice to Su and her dancing. But these days her voice sounds more like Su's than ever before. Sometimes it's hard to tell on their last album if the backup vocal or harmony was Su doing another layer of vocals or if it's Moa doing it. Sometimes I think it's the both of them. Enjoy the journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
