Blixa is the greatest romantic weirdo of all time. This is also the reason this band is so underrated here in the U.S. They would have been automatically labeled as strange and lecherous. Which is exactly the opposite of what this is. To simplify it better. It would have been lost in cultural translation for the greater part of the public at that time. It's perplexing to me as well, that it would have been met that way considering what was more popular here in the US at that time. His facial expressions and movements, and the almost Salvador Dali like expression of his desires would have been considered very creepy because they weren't sexually bombastic. Truly weird, I know. Yet, that is the backwards way it would have been taken. I do get this song and video and I love it.
I agree. This song is about as sexually understated as you can get. Charming abstraction of debauchery, treachery, torture, rape and murder. What a patriot too. "Be polite. Even when issuing a declaration of war, always observe the rules of politeness." ~Otto von Bismarck~
I'm from the UK and have been seeing EN for over 35 years. The only show I've seen outside the UK was in LA for the Tabla Rasa tour. The energy at that gig was so strange from what I was used to. The audience seemed to be far more hostile to the band. I , as always, though they were amazing.
Reminds me of the lines from My Fair Lady: "Oozing charm from every pore, He oiled his way around the floor." Seductive and creepy all at once - and you can't get enough.
As far as I'm concerned, this video contains all of the secrets of the universe. What _is_ her name? What is Blixa doing? Why do peanut butter and pickle sandwiches taste so good? Was bleibt? Und so weiter.

Why is the song muted because of claims by the copyright holder, when it was uploaded BY THE BAND THAT MADE THE SONG!?
Audio is working, July 2020 in the US. Sometimes RUclips blocks sound or video in certain countries.
Because of men with neck-ties and frocks, who drive teslas and bentleys.
