@15:35 the pin would stop one of the magnas advances but not both- same with a disarm or an exposed defense roll- assuming the attacks are in succession against the unit.
Great, instructive batrep. Really dig that you guys illustrate so much. Something worth noting, when Maul attacked the Commandos, he's attacking a single character, so the shove is resolved against only one. They were wounded, so it wasn't as important for control, but it could impact later turns.
I like how you show the stance cards and walk through the attack results. So we can see the Jump on 4 when Don says “there’s no Jump” during GG’s attack.
What a great game. Crazy dice leading to some one-shots of tough characters. And Vader+Luminara is really powerful. An unexpected, but really good synergy. There is one thing I noticed in Struggle 2 and it may have also happened in Struggle 3. It didn’t have an impact on this game, but could down the line. If you don’t actually move the Struggle Token(cube), you do not gain a Momentum for it remaining on your opponent’s side. But, congratulations to Don. A victory well earned.
Don, for your consideration at 15:57 you could started with the move action to take the pin off with the manga guard up top, have the other one move then take cover to move and get a hunker. That’s a long way to say pin only effects one character move and I think it may help you in the future.
Love the Shatterpoint content along with Legion. Makes for some nice variety as these games are so different to play and watch. Here's hoping they go crazier and crazier with game. I want me some Old Republic representation! Its never going to happen, but I can dream
The first Don victory in a while I think, it was glorious! I am really enjoying the shatter point content and am probably going to join in the fun when more empire stuff comes out!
Coordinated Fire must be used before dice is rolled. The reason is that the effect may be on the combat tree. Perhaps you guys did that and I just didn’t see due to editing and nature of watching on RUclips.😊
In a game supposedly designed so your characters don't get one-shot..... There was a lot of one-shotting going on lol that's also my unfortunate about the state of the 501st. One of the owners of my FLGS refers to them as the 50Worst
Dice had a bit to do with that… but unlike some other games the come right back the next time they activate so not dead at least :) thanks for watching! -Joe
Question: At 28:50 Lumi did 9 damage to Maul with Commandos reactive ability of one damage even though they were wounded. Just to check, did the coordinated fire cost a force at that point since they were wounded? Going back and watching older stuff now. Love the videos btw.
Thanks! I can’t recall if we did spend the force but either way it should have costed one since they were wounded. Thanks! More Shatterpoint coming once Don is back from his long trip! -Joe
Keep the Shatterpoint stuff coming! Cannot wait to snag me a core set (currently, playing with a friend's copy, but who doesn't want their own set?) after I finish up my current projects.
Another upload in the middle of the week and it's a game of Shatterpoint? ❤ Glad this series hasn't become a "One Shot" like how it's looking for the Marvel Crisis Protocol series. Glad Don was able to steal Joe's dice rolling ability for once. Totally agree with the thoughts about the 501st: not only is their stance card not great, in a game that has so much melee and is all about moving close to the control points, having one ability out of three rely on Hunker Tokens makes them very situational. Thanks for another great video!
More Marvel will be coming! Just been busy with legion and the shatter launch! But if I had to say the channel is legion as the main and shatter as the secondary… then marvel as a third from time to time :) thanks for watching! -Joe
Loving the Shatterpoint content! Keep it up! Btw, ‘tactical network’ lets you dash, then hunker OR make a 5 die attack. So the Magnaguard could have smacked Bariss early on
Also, active and reactive abilities are considered to have a force cost even if it’s not show. So, coordinated fire on the clones would cost a force point to use once they become wounded
Really enjoy the battle reports guys. Just thought its worth pointing out that struggle tracker you're using has 2 extra slots on either side. You should start the game with a momentum cube on the 8th slot from the center.
Peeking using flow is so good!!! Completely forgets it does other things. Injured the magna you could dash. Commandos got injured would get to heal 3 times. Lets say vader. When injured (commandos) costs force to use coordinated fire.
I didn use the heal a couple times. Issues was I don’t have any wounds to heal when it could have happened due to him one shooting anything. Thanks for watching! -Joe
The fact that a team with 4 force users was unable to push a single magna guard off of a roof or one shot him was a bit silly. Btw congrats on your first ever win Don!
Great game! Not sure if anyone else commented on this yet, but when a Clone unit is wounded, does it not now cost a force to use their coordinated fire ability? I believe that was missed on an attack that happened right after the Commandos got wounded. Thanks for walking through the cards, rules, etc throughout the match!
Hi again! I said this once before, but I'm noticing it again - I really enjoy your presentation style and, especially, the effort you are clealy putting into helping viewers learn the rules of the game. I wish more channels would take this approach. Because you are putting an emphasis on teaching, I wanted to mention a few rules errors and other points that could lead to confusion for anyone following along. I hope you take these in the intended spirit, which is to do just a small part of my own to help teach people the game along with you (gotta live through others such as yourselves as I do not have a channel of my own!). - The first is very minor, and you even corrected for it as you played, and that is that the first time you used Vader's Identity, you only added two dice to the attack roll. As you showed later, it's three dice. Like I said, minor. - When you used the 501st first defensive maneuver, you applied two hunker tokens to the unit. It is only one token, even if they both dashed. - Coordinated fire is applied before any dice are rolled. This is important for several reasons, all tied to the fact that you don't know what your results are at that point. You don't have the knowledge of which effects you may be applying as part of the Combat Tree, so you don't get to see if there is a benefit to using Coordinated Fire, and, importantly, if you have multiple units capable of applying CF, you have to pick one, and as you don't know what the tree is applying yet, you may not be sure which CF to use, so you have to make a choice first. Also, as CF starts to cost Force after being Wounded, you have to decide if it is worth spending the Force before seeing the results of the Tree, not wait until afterward to see if maybe you can double up a status to do that one final damage. I know in this game it may not have mattered, but it's always good to form good habits so that when it does matter, the correct rules are applied. Bottom line, after you have rolled dice, it is too late to apply CF. - I noticed you doing thing that a TON of people get wrong in RUclips battle reports. You used bases AS measuring devices, which is a no no. You don't get to put down a range tool and a movement tool and then put the base between them, adjusting where you want to land after seeing where a character's base would be. That is using the base as a measuring device, which is not allowed. You can put the range and movement tools both out, but not the base. This becomes important when you are not sure, for example, if you will make it to a spot like an ingress point. Imagine you are seeing if you can get there. You put down the movement tool. You put a 1 Range by the ingress. There is a gap between them that you THINK might be short enough for the base of the moving character to fill and make it to the ingress. Then you put the base down and see that you estimated incorrectly and don't make it to the ingress. You are now stuck there at the end of the movement tool because you cannot use the base to measure, so if you try to take the move back, it means you have measured the gap with the base, which is against the rules. - When Vader fought Grievous and Shoved him, you indicated that you only pushed him back a slight bit. Pushes and Pulls are not variable distance. You must go the full distance, which is 1 in this case. - Speaking of Shoves, these last few things are really just about terminonogly, which is important to get right when trying to teach or learn new games: 1. The thing that happens on Combat Trees to make little Range 1 moves is called a Shove, not a Push. This is important because it's super easy to forget that the attacker can Pull after Pushing the target if you just call a Shove a Push. By using the proper term, Shove, it reminds the player that a Shove is both a Push and a Pull, not just a Push. It's subtle, I suppose, but there we go. :) 2. There are no "hits" in the game. The rules contain the word "hit" exactly three times, and they are all in reference to the Hit and Run abilty. A new player looking through the rulebook may wonder what they are missing as they won't be able to find the rules for hits. There are strikes and crits. Now, I suppose in our minds we can think of both of these as "hits" if we want, but it still trains us to use the wrong term for them, plus it leads to uneccessary questions. Like "I got five hits," says the attacker. "Ok," says the defender, "how may are strikes and how many are crits, so I know how many of these 'hits' I can block?" Calling strikes hits takes away from learning. So, that's that! Thanks again for sharing your games and teaching people as you go. Hopefully these comments are taken well. I certainly don't mean to offend.
We know about the hunker tokens, I even stated I put them next to the mini and not just the card so people can see it better. As for the base once placed and not allowed to move it more or less based on the template is interesting. Even my multiple demos with AMG they did this. So will check rules book on that. Having to shove the whole distance is new to us to so will double check that. As for saying hits that’s cause in every other game we play that’s what they are called. But we do show the tree and how to move through it so we know it’s not hits. Thanks for watching! -Joe
@@graysquadrongaming8670 Okedoke! Not fussin'. The double hunker I noticed was the very first one for the 501st. I know in later examples you for sure mentioned putting the token on the table for clarity, but in that first one (around 13:05) you put out two tokens (as opposed to the single token in later instances) and one of you even commented "going to each take a hunker." Kind of a bummer on AMG folks not applying their own rules about measurements with anything other than the range and movement tools. I don't really blame them, though, as I'm sure the game went through a bunch of rewrites, and it could *easily* be left over stuff from changed rules. Regardless, as I said, these videos are much appreciated. Lots to watch. Lots to learn. Lots of fun! Thanks again.
That was a heck of a struggle 1 with all the one shot 'ing units. A few points, kalanis tactical network is a dash and then a hunker, heal or attack. Griveous should have triggered the magna guard next to him to dash and slap vader on 1st struggle. As far as I know, target concentrate all firepower triggers on melee attacks too so those magnaguards should have had an extra hit dice. Congrats on the first win Don!
Don with the one shot hits was on fire! This looks like such a fun game, though neither my wallet nor wife would appreciate starting another game like this.
@graysquadrongaming8670 Ahh, house rules. Fair enough. I'm new to shatterpoint, still painting, so I'm absorbing as many play videos to understand the game.
Congratulations you have won the curled paw token shatterpoint set for our giveaway! please reach out via facebook, instagram or discord and we will get that sent out!
For sure, but if the top part of the tower was higher than range 2 of her, it would've been considered the same elevation and higher than her, blocking los entirely. I don't have the high ground pack, so I don't know if that part is actually taller than range 2 @@graysquadrongaming8670
I would take B2s over B1s simply to counter anyone that tries to contest an objective. Use Kraken's tactical network to have them dash then make an attack - THEN - spend a force for saturation fire and now you're throwing 7 dice into someone lol
Now that you guys have a few games under your belts; how do you feel this game would play with more traditional terrain? Would it work well on your desert city board? Will it work ok with flatter boards? Or does it really need the verticality to be interesting? Just curious. 🙂
I think the terrain can be flexable, the problem comes to base size and bases not being able to overhang, so even out tattooine map would be a struggle because the bases don't fit well. -D0n
It hurts so much in shatterpoint when your pieces get one shot... Its almost a design thing i guess? Attacks are so deadly generally in shatterpoint, but I guess I'd be a salty Joe if my defence dice just aborted for a game... - Daan D
I just realized that you did a mistake in your intro text: You call Grievous as Darth Grievous, which is wrong, since Darth are title given to sith. Grievous is a general, so the correct appelation should be General Grievous.
Both times I've tried Shatterpoint the games have been so one sided. It is hard to recover once your opponent starts slapping condition after condition on your characters. Crossing my fingers we get some Republic Commandos for Legion soon.
That’s what’s fun about shatterpoint you can mix units up if you would like. It’s a fun game. More legion is always coming. We just dropped two episodes in the past week.
They are not, they got more to show at the event next month! Shatterpoint is more like a skirmish and legion more like an army level :) thanks for watching! -Joe
@@graysquadrongaming8670 oh now this sounds interesting, I really hope they have, wonder what it could be. Hope it’s new army for rebels and new Leia and solo models in echo base outfits.
hold up, you tac network a magna guard into melee and dont give it a 5 dice attack?? then shoot barriss with kalani who i mean come on definitely does not have LoS. well not from the camera angle you show. 5 dice attack from magna, hope you push barriss off then blast her with kalani shooting which you would more likely have LoS on her

- Speaking of Shoves, these last few things are really just about terminonogly, which is important to get right when trying to teach or learn new games:

@@graysquadrongaming8670 I’m hoping to pick one up soon.
Friendly Vader?? Did i miss something? 🤔
Sometimes even Vader can be friendly haha
@graysquadrongaming8670 Ahh, house rules. Fair enough. I'm new to shatterpoint, still painting, so I'm absorbing as many play videos to understand the game.
We don’t use any house rules on our videos. All official. Thanks for watching!
-Joe
@graysquadrongaming8670 Ok, thanks for the info 👍
Cool to see new stuff get used
Yeah it's fun -Don
Very cool.
Thanks for watching-Don
congrats on the win Don. love seeing you one shot a couple of Joe guys for a change. maybe Joe should of worn the salt crown
He probably should have -Don
Don, getting in melee with the Magna Guard to drop the hunker on the terrorist at the start was brilliant.
Haha sometimes it just works -Don
Congratulations you have won the curled paw token shatterpoint set for our giveaway! please reach out via facebook, instagram or discord and we will get that sent out!
@@graysquadrongaming8670 great. How do I find you on discord?
Good job Don!
Oh yeah, one shot!
Haha thanks! -Don
So are the droids shatter points answer to blizzard force in legion? That free move is crazy
Yeah droids have a big advantage -Don
How was Kalani able to see Barris @10:16? Was her base wider than the tower?
Line of sight in this game is more 2d then 3d so she could be seen from the ground-Don
For sure, but if the top part of the tower was higher than range 2 of her, it would've been considered the same elevation and higher than her, blocking los entirely. I don't have the high ground pack, so I don't know if that part is actually taller than range 2
@@graysquadrongaming8670
that game looks fun. 😀
Thanks for watching-Don
Going to be hard to say no to jumping into shatterpoint once Hondo gets released
Yeah right -Don
I would take B2s over B1s simply to counter anyone that tries to contest an objective. Use Kraken's tactical network to have them dash then make an attack - THEN - spend a force for saturation fire and now you're throwing 7 dice into someone lol
Yeah I kinda like the b2s as well -Don
Now that you guys have a few games under your belts; how do you feel this game would play with more traditional terrain?
Would it work well on your desert city board?
Will it work ok with flatter boards? Or does it really need the verticality to be interesting?
Just curious. 🙂
I think the terrain can be flexable, the problem comes to base size and bases not being able to overhang, so even out tattooine map would be a struggle because the bases don't fit well. -D0n
@@graysquadrongaming8670Oh. That's a shame. 😕
Joe needs to go get some tequila and have one shot after another to get rid of some salt😂😂. Don rolling some hot dice!!
Yeah they were fire -Don
@@graysquadrongaming8670 really were, but as I said to Joe a week or so ago on an FB post, you were due a hot streak!!!
Nice tokens!
They are very nice -Don
one shot for the smoking dice.
Yeah they were hot -Don
Damn I could use a core box
Good luck and thanks for watching!
-Joe
It hurts so much in shatterpoint when your pieces get one shot... Its almost a design thing i guess? Attacks are so deadly generally in shatterpoint, but I guess I'd be a salty Joe if my defence dice just aborted for a game... - Daan D
Not usually that crazy...the dice were nuts -Don
Ah working now👍
Glad to hear it...see what I did there...haha -Don
I was trying to follow but may have missed it, how do you enter into the core box giveaway thing?
Just comment on the videos -Don
This game is starting to have me interesting.... I'm just so afraid to paint them cause I know I will make them look terrible.
That's never a good reason not to play! My painting is real.bad but I still make the attempt -Don
I just realized that you did a mistake in your intro text: You call Grievous as Darth Grievous, which is wrong, since Darth are title given to sith. Grievous is a general, so the correct appelation should be General Grievous.
That is correct he is not Darth and that is a mistake. Thanks for watching!
-Joe
How do you enter to win
Just comment on the video! So your entered! -Don
Both times I've tried Shatterpoint the games have been so one sided. It is hard to recover once your opponent starts slapping condition after condition on your characters. Crossing my fingers we get some Republic Commandos for Legion soon.
Yeah shatter point is getting all the fun things, but has a lot more room for balance to work with then legion -Don
Vader and Obiwan on tbe same team, turned off at that point. More legion please.
That’s what’s fun about shatterpoint you can mix units up if you would like. It’s a fun game. More legion is always coming. We just dropped two episodes in the past week.
Really hope AMG not leave out Legion to concentrate on Shatterpoint. The battle just ain’t as epic.
On shot salty joe
Love me some salty Joe-Don
There is no sound🤦♂️
Should be working -Don
hold up, you tac network a magna guard into melee and dont give it a 5 dice attack?? then shoot barriss with kalani who i mean come on definitely does not have LoS. well not from the camera angle you show.
5 dice attack from magna, hope you push barriss off then blast her with kalani shooting which you would more likely have LoS on her
Can’t recall the 5 dice attack part, but he 100% had Los onto barriss. Thanks for watching!
-Joe
