      Creators of the show: it is a very repetitive show! I love the show, but I’d like to see more originality. Everyone is saying the same stuff - because you give them like 2-3 different lines to choose from? I’d like to see their own personalities come out, and perhaps change some of the lines. That’s my advice if you want to stay relevant and new

    I can't believe all these ignorant comments from people who have not handled a single sword in their life and claim a cracked handle isn't a big deal. It's one last step before the blade flies out with the tang, and turns into a helicopter of death.
    The kid should have just made another handle. The grip he created simply wasn't a proper one to begin with. They are tasked to make weapons, not to supply blade components of weapons. If your computer or phone manufacturer just made a fine CPU with a broken monitor/screen, would you still be able to sit here to type these comments? Get a proper monitor or it's not really a functional piece. When your sword's grip or weapon's shaft is broken, you are done. That's the lesson to be learned here.
    It exactly is a catastrophic failure. Go swing a sharp sword at some hard targets with a cracked handle, I dare you. Nobody does that unless they have a death wish. Just because some random idiot create something that fails every day doesn't mean it's not a fail. He already knew it was gonna fail when he made the handle and he STILL went with it. Honestly he deserves to lose. That's not to diminish the accomplishment he's made with the blade. Plenty of famed swordsmiths let someone else to make the fittings, because an expert bladesmith isn't necessarily an expert on working with wood, leather, steel wires. Though I would say an experienced one knows what is acceptable and what is not, so they are at least capable of creating reliable grips, if somewhat plain.

    • @markybarra1142
      @markybarra1142 4 года назад

      Can't say I agree. The handle is a huge importance of a functionality of a sword. If the handle breaks then it is a faulty sword as a whole. The craftsmanship the kid did was remarkable no less and one of the few Damascus actually done right on the show. But the sword itself the old guy made is superior due solely on functionality. But if the kid worked more on the handle or picked a harder wood for the sword it would have been a far superior sword for sure.

    Coming from an ex amature blade-smith: Tape up the handle and keep going. Its still the same blade. In ACTUAL use as a chopper or tool IRL the handle would have been wrapped in cord or leather if it started to split and it would have been used anyway.
    I kinda see why they wouldn't and
    I think "forged in fire" is a great show, but i think it may be a bit biased, but that's my own opinion.
    The younger smiths blade was FAR superior to his older opponents blade.
    The older gentleman didn't even bother to make his blade look nice.
    To be fair looks do not equal function, however if you truly take pride in what you do you want it to look as good as your skill can make it, that being said i question the skill and pride of the older smith, but i do not judge him.

    • @VorgaragTV
      @VorgaragTV 4 года назад

      Well, he did make a much sturdier handle even though it was not very stable and was simply too small, I can't really judge his sword from the kill test when even both wielders had difficulty wielding it due to the small handle slipping and spinning in their hands. Overall, though I think Caleb should of re did his handle rather than try and add poxy and a pin to fix it.

    • @isarphenn

      Agreed, that kids work made his opponents look like hot garbage, I doubt I am in a position to criticise, but as a tradesman, being handed a win for what could almost be written off as bad luck, particularly with a piece that beautiful, I dunno, there's no pride there..

    • @evangordon2653
      @evangordon2653 4 года назад +1

      @@VorgaragTV very true. His mistakes cost him the competition.
      I just wish (as much as i like the show) "forged in fire" would test weapons a bit more true to what would actually happen if it were used in real life.
      The count handle failure as a "catastrophic weapons failure" when infact it was quite common when those kinds of tools were used on a daily basis. A broken handle while inconvenient, was not catastrophic as the user would typically just wrap it and carry on with his/her/their day.
      But sadly their rules of competition are what they are.
      Good to hear someone elses opinion on it. Glad im not the only one who comes to watch it for more than just the "keel test".
