FYI the drift bias was fixed starting in 2004 so it’s worth checking the serial number sticker on back for the date. There’s also a bias mod most amp techs can do fairly easily without needing the new board. An unrelated mod that makes these even better is to have a choke installed 👍 Great vid though, this is one of my favorite amps and deserves more love for sure 🤘
The board material itself might be too conductive. Reissues are objectively safer. Let’s follow up if anyone knows from 1st hand experience. My bandmate went thru hell with this amp.
Good times! Great vid! I got the DSL50/JCM2000 the year it came out. One of my favorite Marshalls that I’ve owned. I mostly used the crunch gain channel and not the high gain channel as much. I got nothing but compliments for my guitar tone when paired with my Les Paul. Great amp.
@ @ oh man I’ve heard it from everyone I’ve ever played music with. They always say JCM800 or bust haha. I always tell em that it’s ok to be wrong haha
How does it compare against a newer DSL100? I see used versions of both for about the same near me. I know they are related, but sometimes an amp will just have that special sauce
I absolutely love the classic channel of that amp. I dont own many pricey amps but to me it just sounds like the rock'n'roll I grew up on. It also takes pedals better than any amp I've owned. I'd love to see a review on this channel.
My 2000 is from 99, and has the original board... The tsl is a different story... Doing a bias pot externally is a mod worth doing to prevent bias drift. The Chinese dsl different, so the boards are different...
Cheap? Not so cheap if they are suffering from bias drift issues. Killer amps, but beware. I got one that I snatched from a friend before it blew up, it now sits quietly waiting to be modded.
The mentions of price points in recent videos are great, thanks!

The crunch channel is great but that lead channel is what really did it for me . Glad you liked the video !
Nuno bettencourt tone right here with a rat infront, killer amp
This does sound awesome with a Rat in front of it .
Brads guitars makes a replacement board for these fyi, very nice Australian fella
Thanks for the heads up ! I’m def going to look into those tonight .
Cool jam bro!
Appreciate you 🤘🏻
Still to date my favorite amp. Don’t know why people poopoo this amp
Who's shitting on the 2000? I hear all the time about how good it is. The only person I know who dislikes them is my amp tech 😂
I think it’s just because they’re so unreliable. Kind of like the Ampeg V4 . Awesome amp but they constantly break

It’s absolutely one of the best Marshalls ever made.
Strangely enough, my favorite guitarist that uses the JCM 2000 is Jónsi from Sigur Rós.
It’s a great amp as long as you replace the board . But unfortunately they are not making them anymore . Which sucks
@@FuzzedDrones Brads Guitar Garage makes new improved replacement boards !
Fuck yea the Hatebreed amp.
Such a solid ass amp . Glad I took the chance on this one .

I wish I could give you a honest answer. But I’ve never been able to compare the two .

I’ve owned both UK and Vietnam made. Go with original UK version. Sounds way better.
