From the two witnesses above, it's pretty clear there is nothing definite about line calls based on plain observations. Our eyes just don't have the speed and resolution. Our brains are even worse. I was a witness of a robbery (guns in my face and stuff). I told the cops there were 3 robbers. I saw them when they first entered the store, and when they ran out the door, 1, 2, and 3. However, the other three people reported 4.
That was an incredible get by Staksrud - he even had his back turned to Alshon so he couldn't have aimed it at him if he wanted to. And he was toward the back of the court with his momentum taking his away. Totally uncalled for rudeness. I will root against Alshon from now on.

That video outage in the Mixed doubles Gold medal match really pissed me off. At first I thought it mus be a rain delay, and then when they came back and had 11-0 on the scoreboard, like most people probably thought, I assumed it was a scoreboard error. Pickleball TV's production skills are about on a par with a middle school AV department. Close call replay would be a great thing, but the biggest issue, imo, is the rules around when and how often you can call for a challenge. Players should definitely be able to challenge a mid rally shot and should have more challenges. However, I think there should be a penalty for losing a challenge, whether you call it or the other team does. If you call a ball out, and they challenge, they lose a challenge if it was out, why shouldn't you lose a challenge if they were right and it was in? As for the hook of the week when Castillo called Jansen's ball out: I think the refs are intimidated by Jansen, who complains constantly about everything. Unfortunately, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. That entire match between Jansen and Davidze was disgraceful, but not surprising at all given who they players were.
Another excellent video. BTW you (and lots of other people) are misusing the term "hinderance." A hinderance cannot be caused by someone who is playing on your court. If they do things like squeak their feet or yell at the wrong time, that is a "distraction". NOT a hinderance. A hinderance is caused from something other than the players on your court, such as when a ball from someone else's game lands on your court.

Her sheo was sticking to court not slipping from simple water. A shoe that sticking when you go for a ball you could tear an ACL. Watch replay it is easy to see when she stepped on it and why dad was scrubbing to try to get the sticky tape off her shoe.

According to the rules now that if a paddle is found illegal from governing body it will not removed during the tournament if already under way . I assume to what happed to CRBN during US Open a couple years back when they removed them during the tournament.
