This is the perfect song for entering a dungeon in a TTRPG. Don't kock it till you try it. There are games where the limits are your imagination. I didn't start till my 20s. Yup, I'm that rare female player.
Thanks for reacting to this. I'm a huge fan of VoicePlay and of Geoff. This has a 'sequel' that came out a few weeks ago, "I See Fire." Deeper than this. Geoff's cover of Ain't No Sunshine is epic. For VoicePlay, you might try their covers of Dream On or Nothing Else Matters. They have an incredibly varied catalogue & everything is excellent, but those might appeal to you guys. Or Valhalla Calling. In general, their musicianship and creativity is very high, so any title that appeals will be good. They're 100% indie, and do everything themselves except for the final audio edit. (I subscribed via your coverage of Ren, and prior to Ren I didn't like rap or hip hop, things change.)
That’s the best way to describe it….I’ve been going down this rabbit hole for 4 days straight. Just found Voiceplay….or I should say refound….just realized I’ve heard them before….two years ago…well I’m glad I’ve officially found them again.
This is from the movie The Hobbit. Geoff has a five octave range and will usually multiply himself on screen to show that he is singing all of the harmonies. His bass might not be the lowest but it is the most rounded and bell like. The most beautiful, if you will. You want to hear an Acapella fight song listen to Valhalla Calling by VoicePlay which is his group he sings with.😊
You'd like Geoff's group VoicePlay and their cover of "Valhalla Calling" by Miracle of Sound. They prove that rap and acapella work together... with VIKINGS! Plus Geoff hits a frigging B0. He's basically a walking an 808 bass drop. VoicePlay is one of the Big Three of Acapella and known for theatrics and elaborate costumes.
The three biggest a capella groups are Pentatonix, VoicePlay, and Home Free. Each have a fantastic bass singer who has also done some solo work. My favorite of these is VoicePlay and Geoff, partly for the richness of Geoff's voice, but also because they have really creative arrangements. The bass from Home Free (Tim Foust) also did a version of this song with Peter Hollens. It's an interesting contrast.
I recommend I See Fire, the sequel to this. Its mind blowing. His acapella group, Voiceplay, is absolutely stunning in everything. I recommend Vahalla Calling from them.
@@TheOne610 absolutely. Just couldn’t be bothered to differentiate. And (as bad as the Hobbit trilogy is) that soundtrack is almost as good as the LotR soundtrack.
Close Don, close!! The handshake is derived from the original greeting, which was gripping the forearm. That was the check for hidden weapons and meeting your potential assassin. Got another for you though? You know when you cheers each other with your pint pot? That was done in taverns etc and you made sure you got some of your drink in theirs. It was just in case someone had slipped poison in to your drink while you weren't looking. If they tried to kill YOU the YOU would take them out too. Geoff Castelucci has a crazy bass voice. He has incredible range also, right up through baritone to tenor. He actually hits natural sub-harmonics when he resonates that low bass. This song (as you found out) is from The Hobbit where Aragorn and the company of Dwarves meet at Bilbo Baggins' house. You need to check out his cover of "I see fire" by Ed Sheeran, it's even more stunning than this. It's super difficult to record 4 different parts, all separate from each other yet Geoff does it seamlessly!!!
Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci!!!! Omg my absolute favorite!!!!! Thank you!! So many more to see!!! Please check out “Ain’t no sunshine” you will be so surprised!!!
geoff castellucci is apart of a group called voiceplay they do a cappella. They are so good you should check out there song seven nation army by the white stripes or there cover of in the air tonight by phill collins. The song is from the hobbit movie.
Congrats and flowers to you for catching that it is indeed one person. Two reactors that I watched yesterday both thought it was a group and wondered why the other guys weren’t named. If you check the description all the way at the bottom he will go ahead and list all of the credits. In this one it was himself, his wife who managed the cameras and a make up artist friend. That’s it. Geoff did the arrangement, the concept, acquiring the costumes, lining up the venue and friend who does the make up, the video edits, and the initial sound edits. Then it goes to Ed Boyer who is the king of a cappella mixers who also mixes for HomeFree, Pentatonix, all the big a cappella groups. Geoff and Tim Foust became friends on Sing Off Tour. Geoff uses subharmonics for the lowest notes and Tim uses the growl technique. To the best of my knowledge neither of them uses throat singing. You look to be the right age and temperament for gaming. You might want to check out some of VoicePlay’s video game theme covers. From Assassin’s Creed they covered My Mother Told Me and more recently Valhalla Calling. They have also performed the HALO theme, Dragonborn/Skyrim and others. Due to their willingness to dress up, and trying to cover the feeling of a song besides just singing it, they are known as the theater kids of a cappella. I hope you check them out and if so I will be back.
This is from the first Hobbit movie. One man. What's better than one Geoff, it's four Geoffs. The group he is bass for is VoicePlay. He got the Dwarfs back in his newest release of "I See Fire' from the second Hobbit movie Desolation of Smaug. Which dropped on June the 9th.
love your reactions guys. as said song is from the 1st hobbit movie and he has just dropped a cover of I see fire (ed sheeran) from the 2nd hobbit movie. welcome to the acapella rabbit hole with voice play and home free. Geoff's catalogue is freaking amazing!!!!!!
Geoff has such a good voice. I’m glad bass vocals are coming back into music. This song has been covered by many. Even Tim Foust from HomeFree did a duet with Peter Hollens. Speaking of Home Free, their video for “This is How We Roll” is an homage to ‘The Big Lebowski’. It’s funny, if you know the movie.
"We used to be hip hop, now we're just straight warlocks all the time" Best quote ever. I also loved 'Bardcore". You guys are really perceptive! You spotted right away that there are 4 Geoffs, also you got the correct 'Jeff' pronunciation. Also the comment about it's as if the Boys to Men bass singer was doing his own stuff... well, that's what is happening here. Voiceplay has been around since the 90's, and their bass singer is Geoff Castellucci. One of the amazing things in music today is the rise of Acapella groups like Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay. Voiceplay are the 'theatre kids' of the three, and lately (since the pandemic) they have been doing more studio work... which means that the acapella work they do is heavily produced for the best quality song they can make, then they produce a whole video production around the song. You saw the makeup work here, that's a Voiceplay thing. I think you guys would LOVE to react to Valhalla Calling. I think it's much more your style, and you'd get a lot out of it. 'Seven Nation Army' is also good, and if you do a reaction to that, listen close to a moment where a round is ejected from a gun and hits the floor... and marvel at the fact that the sound was produced only by humans and microphones. Seriously, 'Valhalla Calling' is a GREAT thing for you to react to! Subscribed.
Pronunciation is Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci (Cas-tel-loo-chee) and the song is from the movie "The Hobbit" a prequel to "The Lord of the Rings" and it is very much a fantasy based movie and not for everyone but I appreciate yall for taking the time to react and hear something different.
This is from the movie, The Hobbit. The one he just dropped is from the 2nd film, the Desolution of Smaug (who is a very nasty dragon). VoicePlay (Geoff's group) also have a couple of exceptional Viking songs - My Mother Told Me, Valhalla Calling, some gaming music videos - Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, the Halo theme. They have done some rock - Carry On My Wayward Son (Kansas), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), yesterday the dropped In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins), an apocalyptic trilogy - Warriors (Imagine Dragons), Dream On (Aerosmith), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Queen in 5 Minutes, Friends on the Other Side. Last fall they did In the Hall Of the Mountain King - an orchestral movement by Edvard Grieg WAY BACK in 1875. See what VoicePlay did with that!
Still love Pentatonix for a capella - esp. the Daft Punk medley, but this was nice. For this song, I like the movie version most as it's sung by the dwarvish king who has been displaced since the dragon burnt down the village and took over their home (and gold) in the mountain. The remaining members of his bloodline surround and sing with him about crossing the mountains and getting their home back. (There’s also a bit of foreshadowing that the journey will be haunting, and things might not go so well.) Second best version I think is the Peter Hollens version featuring Tim Foust (from Home Free). Fun reaction though! Glad to hear something different that's not Rammstein-esque. 😉
This is Geoff Castelucci from VoicePlay which is also a good a cappella group. Their videos are often theatrical and very good. Pentatonix is also good...more contemporary pop. All three groups were on the Sing Off...PTX won season 3; VoicePlay and Home Free were on season 4 and Home Free won in 2014. Chance joined the group in 2016 and hasn't changed since.
Got dat Hobbit habit 😂 I got so tickled when he hit that 1st low and the both of you turned to each other lol ..in my mind I thought wouldn't it be even funnier if a pop up came above both your heads sayin "oh no you didn't just...did you lol😅 I enjoy the heck outta you 2 ..y'all have me giggling every time. Thanks guys ..oh and the answer to Don asking you if you knew where the middle finger came from I would've replied...I don't know about you but mine came standard but I can throw 2 at ya no cost all if ya are looking for an addition 😅😂😂✌️👏🔥🤜✨🤛
I can confirm that there definitely are people with this cranked up loud in the car while riding around. As a matter of fact, my playlist has a ton of Geoff Castellucci covers as well as covers from his group, VoicePlay. Nothing like blaring an a capella version of Nothing Else Matters, Hoist The Colours, Valhalla Calling, or The Little Mermaid Medley. :) Everybody has the music that is currently popular on the radio and itunes and whatnot. Don't be afraid to stand out from the crowd and occasionally let your freak flag fly, man..
Kudos for spotting it's all Geoff! If you're ever in doubt, check his rings. In his cover of "Way Down" he actually names his clones. Valhalla Calling (Voiceplay) does the leather tunics, plus a bearskin, and has Geoff going maniacal, plus bars laid by J.None.
If you guys haven't heard of Peter Hollens, you should check his music out, everything that he does is acapella. His rendition of this song was cool too
Geoff is the bass singer in an acapella group called Voice Play. He also does his own stuff on his channel. This is doubly impressive because all of the voices you hear, high to low, are all him. He records them all and layers them together. The song is from Lord of the Rings. Home Free is another acapella group. Their bass singer is Tim Foust. He is also exceptionally skilled. Here's a link to another Lord of the Rings song he did outside of his work with Home Free. ruclips.net/video/yb2HR47npEU/видео.html This is also done with layering, but a lot of the layers are Peter Hollens, who is singing with him.
This isn't my favorite one by Geoff, because if you don't already know the song, it could seem a little boring. I hope they do some of the newer Voiceplay stuff.
Geoff and Voice Play do plenty of costumed videos. The music comes from games, movies, rock, etc., so themes of apocalypse, pirates, Vikings, fantasy are all in their repertoire. Btw, there was rap in their recent "Valhalla Calling", now that I think of it.
And in the cover of Superstition. I have not verified this, but I understand the rap and that was written by the same guy who wrote the rap for Valhalla
Does it really matter the how, you found Geoff's Rabbit Hole 😊. The point is you found it. If you like it you should check out I See Fire from the second Hobbit Movie After your done, or even while you're exploring this Rabbit Hole, jump down a side hole and join in the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. I'd recommend Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, nothing Else Matters by Metallica and Valhalla Calling
This is from The Hobbit. Geoff is the bass singer with a capella group VoicePlay who cover many types of genre, and are sometimes theatrical in their videos. Geoff makes his own low bass covers and creates his own group to cover all the four or five parts of the harmonies he writes. He also creates the music in background using piano or keyboard with plugin apps. Enjoy. Maybe try something he's done in other genres becauuse he might surprise you with his variety.
Somewhat lower... 😂😂😂 Now you guys gotta watch the sequel to this, "I See Fire." It's from the second hobbit movie and he dropped it recently. Also, as others have said, his Acapella group VoicePlay is worth a listen. Try "Valhalla Calling." It's Vikings!
I'm sure Anthony sent this to you. He's put out this song several times, once by himself and then a couple times with his friends. You probably know by now that Geoff is the bass singer for the A Capella group Voice Play.
The word "goodbye" comes from medieval times/dark ages where when someone was departing from the gates and going beyond the city they would say "God be with you" and over time it was shortened to Goodbye. Just to add on to the whole handshake to check for daggers history.
You should check out Peter Hollens! He is AMAZING!! He also does a lot of collaborations with Home Free as well as with just Tim Faust (the bass singer from Home Free).
Highly recommend “ Riders on The Storm” by Geoff it’s amazing. You guys are so funny. I’m really enjoying this. He also does a fantastic “ “ funny” Christmas song.
A dive into a capella groups would be great. Like others have said here, Pentatonix (my personal favorite), Voiceplay and Home Free have extensive music catalogs.
This song is written at this point almost 100 years ago by the great JRR Tolkien. The Dwarves are singing about their home which was taken from them by the dragon Smaug.
home free does not do Mongolian throat singing, would recommend actually checking some out The Hu being a great band who does it. Also this is a cover of a song from The Hobbit
This is short and sweet. You'll get a ton of recommendations on what to react to next. For Voiceplay, please start with Metallica Nothing Else Matters. And your next Geoff solo performance (actually 4 Geoffs), I recommend Geoff's version of Monster Mash. Seriously, you're in for a sweet ride. The rabbit hole is very deep and you'll be trying to decide if anybody can compete with Voiceplay or Geoff. Enjoy!
Yes, in fact you did find out why it says low bass singer cover... and this song is old enough he has gotten deeper in the last two years. If you want, the second song in the series "I see fire" is actually continuing the same characters but after 2 years. Welcome... and we are coming. We love to see new reactors.
5.50 - its funny with D&D becouse its from a movie adaptation of a book which actualy have started all that genre :) "The Hobbit" - a novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, and this book's adaptation by Peter Jackson, THE director of "the Lord of the Rings" trilogy - one of the greatest (if not the greatest) movie trilogies of all cinema :)
Its so funny to watch the differences between women an men reacting to this type of music. Women are like „Mate me, Sire!!“ and men are like „Kneel, the King arrived!!“ and get quite… even the loudest talkers take a step back and watch in aww. 😂
The song is a cover of a song out of the first Hobbit film (the Lord of the Rings prequel) from the Hobbit trilogy. There dwarfs were singing this, before they start their mission to get back their mountain and gold that was occupied by a dragon. Some suggestions to hear/see from Geoff Castellucci Ghostriders in the Sky (funny) ruclips.net/video/y5qZrrovpuw/видео.html Monster Mash (funny) ruclips.net/video/12Sg9efb0hc/видео.html Sixteen Tons (catchy) ruclips.net/video/fzlT80jQ3lo/видео.html Headless Horseman (funny) ruclips.net/video/8rrg0ksSQdw/видео.html Big Bad John ruclips.net/video/fdBBM_d3jlc/видео.html Sound of Silence (Even the piano is pounding in the head.) ruclips.net/video/lyekSI_4Qlc/видео.html Geoff is also member of VoicePlay, an incredible acapella group. This.... I can talk about the history behind this particular track for days, honestly. 😅 I wanted to make a dnd channel with celebs of all kinds call it "CelebriD-N-D" or something to that effect.
A commentor on another reaction pointed out that it’s pretty timely considering all the huge fires going in Canada right now. I live in an area that is frequently devastated by wildfires and, yes, it would be a great anthem for firefighters
Low bass singer... But have you ever heard the opposite? Do you know of the KING DIAMOND. The legend. The king of Metal. Ask any diehard metalfan and they will acknowledge the might of King Diamond! He even inspired Metallica in his youth as part of Merciful Faith.... He can sing high notes like you never heard before! His albums are concept horror albums in full metal braodway sense. PLEASE give him a reaction. And do a live version so you can see the awesome show he allways puts on! -Try Sleepless nights Live at fillmore!!
The rage I felt every time you paused right before them good good bass drops😤
Pienso lo mismo!
The song is from The Hobbit
Ahh i knew it sounded familiar..
Part of it, he mixed in some poetry from other places in the books
This is the perfect song for entering a dungeon in a TTRPG. Don't kock it till you try it. There are games where the limits are your imagination. I didn't start till my 20s. Yup, I'm that rare female player.

their cover of Mr. Oogie Boogy from a nightmare before christmas is their best imo
Voiceplay are incredible!
@@tolkas42 , LOL, that’s the title I couldn’t remember. Thank you, much appreciated.
This is a rabbit hole in its own. Geoff is an awesome singer, sings with Voiceplay too. Need to check out his cover of “Ain’t No Sunshine”.
Beat me to it! Ain't no Sunshine is still my favorite cover of his, though there are a lot of close 2nds ☺
no it is a hobbit hole!!!!
This is from the famous book The Hobbit. Tim Foust from Home Free also does an excellent cover of this famous song along with Peter Hollins.

If you like it you should check out I See Fire from the second Hobbit Movie
After your done, or even while you're exploring this Rabbit Hole, jump down a side hole and join in the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. I'd recommend Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, nothing Else Matters by Metallica and Valhalla Calling
Wow I love ❤️ that !!!
Check his covers of Simon and Garfunkle's The Sound of Silence and the Beatles' Blackbird.
Now that you have started, you have to do more Geoff and voiceplay now!! ❤
Great Video ❤
Your reaction from 8:20 till 8:25 was priceless 😂
Tim Foust (bass of home free) did this song with Peter Hollins.
Tim and Geoff may be the best bassists in earth at the moment.
Somewhat lower... 😂😂😂
Now you guys gotta watch the sequel to this, "I See Fire." It's from the second hobbit movie and he dropped it recently. Also, as others have said, his Acapella group VoicePlay is worth a listen. Try "Valhalla Calling." It's Vikings!
I sung this song for 2yrs on my way to work and back home
I'm sure Anthony sent this to you. He's put out this song several times, once by himself and then a couple times with his friends. You probably know by now that Geoff is the bass singer for the A Capella group Voice Play.
the intelligence splashes off the screen.
He also does a lot of collaborations with Home Free as well as with just Tim Faust (the bass singer from Home Free).
i get a strong feeling that these guys met each other as extras on the set of Vikings.
Well that strong feeling is impossible because It's all one guy.
Fortunately they were also available when Geoff did his most recent one I See Fire from the second hobbit movie Desolation of Smaug.😂
Highly recommend “ Riders on The Storm” by Geoff it’s amazing. You guys are so funny. I’m really enjoying this. He also does a fantastic “ “ funny” Christmas song.
Do you mean "Ghost Riders in the Sky?"
@@alashandra , Lol ,yeah , I was half asleep when I typed that . Very sorry for my screw up.
I’m also a Doors fan , Lol
A dive into a capella groups would be great. Like others have said here, Pentatonix (my personal favorite), Voiceplay and Home Free have extensive music catalogs.
This song is written at this point almost 100 years ago by the great JRR Tolkien. The Dwarves are singing about their home which was taken from them by the dragon Smaug.
Lets go Geoff!
😂😂😂 Best reaction ever. 😂😂😂
Try listening with headphones. Those bass notes will rattle your soul.
You should totally do Peter hollens and Tim Fount’s version it’s my favorite honestly
home free does not do Mongolian throat singing, would recommend actually checking some out The Hu being a great band who does it. Also this is a cover of a song from The Hobbit
Blind Guardian did an entire Tolkien themed metal album amd it does absolutely slap
love this song its on the film the hobbit an unexpected journey, the dwarves sing it
I see fire, a must
If you want to hear some awesome Mongolian throat singing Check out The Hu Band, song Yuve, Yuve, Yu . I think you'll like it 😁
This is short and sweet. Enjoy!
Voice Play's "Hoist the Colours" is awesome
Yes, in fact you did find out why it says low bass singer cover... and this song is old enough he has gotten deeper in the last two years. If you want, the second song in the series "I see fire" is actually continuing the same characters but after 2 years.
Welcome... and we are coming. We love to see new reactors.
As to what to use when getting ready to roll out, Valhalla Calling, with his group, Voiceplay.
Headphones recommended for acapella.
The salute evolved fron knights raising their hands to their helmets to lift their visors so you could see if they were friend or foe
Tim Foust is the Super Bass from home free
Im always bumping the Hobbit Soundtrack! LMAO
The song is a cover of a song out of the first Hobbit film (the Lord of the Rings prequel) from the Hobbit trilogy. There dwarfs were singing this, before they start their mission to get back their mountain and gold that was occupied by a dragon. Some suggestions to hear/see from Geoff Castellucci

Geoff is also member of VoicePlay, an incredible acapella group. As a first try, you may check out VoicePlay's cover of Valhalla Calling (I don't want to spoil anything, but I'm sure at least one of you will like it at some point.)

This is the song of the dwarves singing about their long lost home from Lord of the Rings. 🇨🇦🖖🏻
Came here expecting to laugh at you two. Expectations met lol
This.... I can talk about the history behind this particular track for days, honestly. 😅 I wanted to make a dnd channel with celebs of all kinds call it "CelebriD-N-D" or something to that effect.
It's funny, I could see a movie scene of like some spec ops guys in a helicopter flying in the dark of night with this as the song.😂😂😂
A commentor on another reaction pointed out that it’s pretty timely considering all the huge fires going in Canada right now. I live in an area that is frequently devastated by wildfires and, yes, it would be a great anthem for firefighters
Geoff stays in the basement..you need to go down the Voiceplay rabbit hole esp the cover songs theyve done
The version Colm mcGuiness did i do ride around and blast in the car.
But its a biiit different.
Fun fact! The lyrics were written by J.R.R Tolkien.
bass and lead voice for group voice play
Those low notes are called "sub-harmonics"
It is a cover of the said title from The Hobbit. Do Valhalla Calling!
This is not anyone from Home Free. Geoff Castalluci is from Voiceplay which is another acapella group.
He is from voice play
This is a cover of the song from the movie “The Hobbit” it was sung by the dwarves in the movie 😊
As a compare and contrast you should listen to Peter Hollens version with Tim Foust.
1st off mile high guys what's up!H*** yeah The nuggets won their 1st NBA championship!!!
it is from the book the Hobbit by JRR tolkien
Tim Foust is the bass singer for Home Free.
You gotta do the new one! “I See Fire” it even better than this one!
There are a lot of us bumping the Hobbit, lol.
