This reminds me of the brothers I knew when I was growing up. The big brother often bullied his little brother. He belittled his brother, talked down to him, and showed him no respect whatsoever. It seemed as if nothing the little brother could do to gain respect from his big brother. When he found out his little brother was bullied by the other 3 students in his class. He didn't say a word, slowly stood up, and nonchalantly walked to his brother's class. He respectfully asked to talk to the 3 students who beat his brother to go outside and talk. They went out and faced him. Without a word, big brother started to beat those 3 fools, one of them had to go to hospital to get some stitches later. After they're all laying on the dirt, he said calmly, " he's my little brother, only I who have the right to bullied him. You must remember that. You touch him means you touch me, and I DON'T like to be touched."
Later, I found out the reason why he treated his little brother so badly because he wanted his little brother to act more like a man, to have a backbone as someone may put it. For years, all he ever wanted was for his brother to fight back at him, or at least a talk back, a yell back...whatever, but it never happened. The little brother respected him too much to show any defiance. They both told each other about their long kept secret feelings years later, while holding each hand, just minutes before big brother passed away on his death bed.

Caesar was already against the Pharaoh since he sided with Cleopatra. Also, he was allegedly furious about Pompeii's death because he was a long time friend, family by marriage and a respectable opponent, not just because he was Roman. He died not on the battlefied but backstabbed by the pharaoh which wasn't a worthy death compared to the life he lived.
Multiple theories also alleged that Caesar did it for political purposes, to keep his reputation clean and avoid suspicion.

@@solisprime2669 Julius was basically saying that any woman who would be his wife shouldn't be under suspicion of any wrongdoing at all, as it would tarnish his own reputation. If his wife had cheated, it would have made him look weak as a man, so he wanted nothing to do with it and divorced her to save his own rep. He didn't want a wife whose name would be gossiped about in the streets, essentially.

I dont know why but romans have lots of gigachads. Marcus furius camillus , marcus aurelius , Scipio Africanus, Lucius Cornelius Sulla, Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa that comes to mind. I think these mfs were eating something we dont. They were built different.

When shown pompey's head caesar was actually upset maybe because they were once friends and pompey had married caesars daughter or because he couldn't use the power move of sparing pompey post civil war to make himself look good. Romans loved clementia(mercy) and had caesar been able to take pompey back alive he would have won serious PR points, nonetheless avenging pompey and the rest of the business in the "egyptian campaign" helped caesar too

the first one one based on situation, there he needs to be first to thrive. Rome was too far from his from his location at that point. It was not pride. With his wife, he just didn't one one-gina. With the pharaoh, he just used that as a reason to wipe out competition. There were not expressions of pride.
