    sir, i have a doubt how u came to know the size of the particles u are getting out from the under flow is 5micro meter, and how to find the size of the particles coming out at the vortex and underflow using cfd

    • @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915
      @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915  3 года назад

      You have to use discrete phase model approach. In that case you have to give escape boundary condition at the vortex outlet and trap boundary condition to be given at the under flow or bottom of the cyclone. In dpm you have to give uniform particle size any diameter for simulation. If your particle size is not uniform then use rosin rammler approach for simulation. After iteration you will get number particles collected and number of particles escaped through particle tracking option. These are all the methodology.

    Thank you, sir. It's a wonderful & informative video. But I want to know, How could we extract the data for which particle size is going to overflow and underflow! I don't understand how to do it in Fluent. As there is no such option in particle tracking which will show us the particle exit history at the two different outlets. Please help me to know this.

    • @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915
      @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915  4 года назад

      There are two methods available in particle simulation first one is uniform size distribution and second one is rosin ramler approach. In first case we have to inject 100% uniform size particle so we can predict how much collected and how much exit for the particular particle size. In second case rosin ramler, we can set minimum size and maximum size particles. It will give cumulative collection efficiency. But predicting the individual particle size is difficult one. By this second case you can approximately predict. Otherwise we have to conduct experiment only.
      Thank you sir

      @@dr.venkys-easylearningknow915 Thanks for your reply. But I guess that's how we calculate the separation efficiency or cut-size. Right!!!
      Because I found in most of the papers people usually plot the separation curve (almost S-structured) which I think is based on data taken from Fluent particle tracking. And those data are may be tracked from what size of particles went to underflow and overflow. Just lemme know if you could put some light on that.

    • @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915
      @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915  4 года назад

      Usually efficiency is predicted for each individual uniform particle size. After that you can plot that s shaped plot. For calculating the efficiency you have to use dpm approach. After converging the solution you will get number of particles trapped, number of particles escaped and number particles injected. By this result you can predict collection efficiency. It means take ratio of number of particles trapped to the number of particles injected. By this way you can calculate efficiency for each particle size and then you can plot.
      Moreover you can predict how much particles escaped (upward flow) and how much particles collected (downward flow).

    Sir , why you have not used k-epsilon RNG swirling flow model ? I think it is more appropriate to describe swirling flow? I have used it with keeping simple model for ( velocity pressure coupling) , the solution has not converged after 6000 itérations ! Can you give me an explanation for this please ? and what I must modify to accelerate convergence?

    • @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915
      @dr.venkys-easylearningknow915  4 года назад +1

      You can use k-epsilon RNG model also. But nowadays RSM only accepted by reviewers. However all the models produce more are less same result. Slight deviation only happened in results. For accurate convergence you have to improve your modelling accuracy. After that you have to improve your mesh quality. Increasing the number of cells produce good convergence. If your iteration is exceed to 6000, use transient or unsteady state approach for run the calculation. In this case reduce time step for quick convergence.

      @@dr.venkys-easylearningknow915 Thanks you Sir , ok I will improve my mesh ( mostly I will use polyhedral mesh) , study firstly a mesh convergence (using first of all your numerical model) , than I will test a steady k epsilon RNG model , if convergence seems laborious , I will try unsteady model ) [ I will not use enhanced wall functions for y+ , because I am not concerned in turbulence in boundary layer ]I must review my courses talking about how to make convergence faster :)

      @@dr.venkys-easylearningknow915 Thank you sir:
      Before I ask doubts, I will try to narrate my problem. I am interested in knowing the transport mode of sediment in a channel. In a channel, there is a pier. Due to pier, the turbulent structures are formed (Horse shoe vortex). The turbulent structure will have an impact on the modes of transport of approaching sediment particles. Please note that I am using Large eddy simulation (LES). Now here are some questions:
      1. What actually means unsteady particle tracking and steady particle tracking;
      2. I want to put some sand particles at the bed level near the pier. How to put the sand particles at the bed level near the pier. The sand particles should be put occupying a small area, uniformly. the particle size is 0.001m. I do not wish the continuous mass flow rate of the sediment injection. I just want to put it only one time when the flow is fully developed. Which injection method should I use.
      Regards,
