John the Baptist prepared the way for the Father, the God of Israel, the God of the Israelite Jesus who came in his Father's name and through whom God the Father did many signs and wonders. The Father was the True Light coming into the world. The Father was in the world and the world came to be by Him but the world did not know Him. He came to His own possession, the nation of Israel but they did not accept Him. But to those who believe in His name which He revealed through the man Jesus, He gave authority to become children of God. In Part 3, John will explain how the Father was revealed through human flesh named Jesus Christ.

The idea that the light here is not Jesus is strained. Jesus said, "I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone putting faith in me may not remain in the darkness" (John 12:46). It is through faith in Jesus' name that we become children of God: "[Y]ou are all children of God through faith in Jesus Christ" (Galatians 3:26; cf. John 20:31).

The disciples of Jesus are the light of the world. And they are the light of the world for the same reason Jesus was - the Father abiding in them does the works.

Part 2 made much more sense for it to click. Thank you. I struggled a lot with John 1. In the first few verses should it be better interpreted as the word it rather than he? Part one had me a little confused on those Greek verb tenses

When Jesus stresses that he came in his father's name and that it is the name that his father gave him doesn't it make more sense phonetically that the name of Messiah would have the name of God in it? YAH...YAHshua or some derivative with the name Yah in it?

Sorry, nothing you said denies that Jesus is the light. Is Jesus the agent of his Father? Sure. But the Bible makes it clear: Act 4:11 - Act 4:12 (ESV Strong's)
11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 *And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”*
The name we must believe in to be saved is Jesus. You cannot believe in the Father's name and not believe in Jesus. Jesus is the light. He is truth. He is the life.

Nobody denied Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus said "I am the light of the world." He also said, "The words that I say to you I do not speak from myself but the Father abiding in me does the works." "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs WHICH GOD DID through Him in your midst" Acts 2:22 "YOU are the light of the world." Matthew 5:14. Ask why.

@@TheTrinityDelusion You know what I mean. You are just confusing the message: Act 4:11 - Act 4:12 (ESV Strong's)
11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” John 1:12 must apply to Jesus. Jesus name is the only name given by which we must be saved. Nice try.

Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given me, that they may be one even as We are.
