Since they're in Whitestone, I am hoping to see an interaction between Fearne and Percy, regarding a certain transaction of a fire-monkey acquiring a pepperbox. :)
What I find to be unique about the interaction between Percy and Ashton is that besides both belonging to the same actor, they are very different from one another in nature, yet oddly, both share some similarities with each other. Percy is the ruler of Whitestone and a genius inventor, yet behind that "mask", is a troubled man who almost lost his entire family and friends, physically and mentally tortured by the Briarwoods, died once, and was possessed by a demon. He has been through Hell and back to get to where he is now, and will do whatever it takes to protect his family. Ashton is a foul-mouthed, punk barbarian who break and steal shit all the time for coin, yet behind that hard exterior, is a damaged individual who lost his parents, died, was brought back to life but has to deal with his chronic pain, and now he lost a friend that he relates to a lot, Laudna. Through his journey with Bell's Hells, they helped him open up his soft spot and now Ashton is doing whatever he can to bring back his friend. Just like how Vox Machina helped Percy. It's also interesting how both characters assumed each other for not understanding. Ashton assumed Percy to be another rich asshole who has everything and doesn’t bother to help if it doesn’t benefit them. Whereas Percy assumed Ashton to be too young to understand pain and loss.
This was maybe my favorite part of the episode. Also when Percy says that Ashton can’t offer anything he wants, I think it was more in reference to the fact that he has his happy (mostly) ending. He has the love of his life and his kids and Whitestone back. It’s not about the fact that Ashton doesn’t have riches to offer him (which is likely how Ashton took it) it’s that he already had everything he needs.
Personally I think you added extra words there. I think I could leave it with "I love how excited Travis gets" about pretty much everything in Critical Role Land.
My favorite knowledge of this episode is that Percy said "Don't do anything without my approval." And everyone immediately left the castle to go to Pike's house and do the thing
Gwendolyn, the twins, and Trinket's family making an appearance made me so dang happy. Hopefully we'll get to see Vesper and little Vax as well in a future episode.
Everyone's reactions to their past characters coming back as NPCs are just priceless but honestly Travis is who kills me. He gets so giddy and can't help but do his little wiggle/shimmy/fist pump thing and it's fucking adorable.
Matt's always good. It's quite reliable. But these last few sessions he's been ON. Brutal villains, emotional losses, creepy atmospheres, the works. He didn't overdue it imitating his friends. They're too distinct. Wouldn't work. The little things he did do ALL landed. Had everyone at the table wrapped around his finger. Really cool to see.
The face journey he went on in the last episode when the party mentioned calling 'The Lord and Lady of Whitestone' for help was absolutely spectacular.
I only listened to this episode at first, so seeing Marisha slide into frame after the initial hype of the mid-session cliffhanger killed me. That and Liam seemingly getting legit jumpscared by her suddenly just being there.
