Love that technique. It was just like my momma used to make. I couldn't for the life of me figure what I was doing wrong because I couldn't get that candied-ish going. Thanks, my friend requested "candied yams with marshmallows". I've never had this dish before in my life. I followed this recipe, then when it was off the heat and cooling, I threw in a handful of marshmallows, let them melt on top, and when it was fully cool, I threw in another handful of marshmallows (which retained their shape) and sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg. You just taught this old great Mawmaw a new way of fixing candied yams. I have been fixing mine for over 50 years. I am going to use your recipe next time I fix them. I always cooked them in the oven using the canned yams. It took for ever. My family likes the marshmallows on top but this looks so much easier. I will just pour them in a 13x9 and put the mellows on top and bake it till it browns

I have a testimony: I was a bit skeptical when I saw this candied yams recipe(I’m from South Africa originally so we never cook sweet potato like this) then I made this today exactly the way you did with your Lemon pepper spatchcock chicken and Your collard greens recipe and some cornbread. Thanks, my friend requested "candied yams with marshmallows". I've never had this dish before in my life. I followed this recipe, then when it was off the heat and cooling, I threw in a handful of marshmallows, let them melt on top, and when it was fully cool, I threw in another handful of marshmallows (which retained their shape) and sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg. I made this for Thanksgiving. I was so skeptical while following these directions because the yams were taking a while to cook but when I tell you they came out perfect! And I just learned that there is a true difference when talking “candied yams” . I’ve made yams in the oven before and they were never truly candied. Like she said this is true candies yams. The first time I had candied yams was out of a can. It was DISGUSING. I followed this recipe to the LETTER and BAY-BAY!! My brother and I looked at each other at the same time and almost lost it. These are so good. Trust the process. Dont Try to add or remove ingredients. This one is a keeper

You just taught this old great Mawmaw a new way of fixing candied yams. I have been fixing mine for over 50 years. I am going to use your recipe next time I fix them. I always cooked them in the oven using the canned yams. It took for ever. My family likes the marshmallows on top but this looks so much easier. I will just pour them in a 13x9 and put the mellows on top and bake it till it browns
