      Alexey Gavrilov
      I hope mine is only the thermostat. If not it is probably the water pump in which case will be an annoying fix. These neon's have no work room at all.

    It takes like 3 minutes to change it. There is no need to remove the main coolant hoses, just the two 10mm bolts and the reservoir hose.

    i forgot to mention. . your top radiator hose is on backwards.

  • @Raised_by_God
    @Raised_by_God 9 лет назад +2

    wait, how long do you have to keet the car running without closing the radiator cap after you replace the thermostat? is the called burping the radoator? How long you have to run it for? I just replaced my a thermostat on my wife's 2000 neon which was super easy but did not do all the running the engine with the radiator cap removed thingy. How long should I run it with the cap off?
    Today I noticed the upper radoator hose which connects to that radiator cap valve was super swallen near where the hose meets that plastic parts which you had removed. Why do you think the hose is swallen? IS it because I did not burp the system? thanks!

      +Jesus was a carpenter did you get an answer to this?

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  8 лет назад +1

      +Jesus was a carpenter never don't keep it open while engine is running cause air can go in... in this video I was running the engine for short period of time cause I asked a helper to constantly add coolant so i made sure that no air not gonna go in the cooling system only coolant... sometimes you can have faulty radiator cap cause of excessive temperature the rubber cracks and air goes throw the radiator cap even if radiator cap is installed so you need sometimes to inspect radiator cap if the seals are bad replace radiator cap.. In case with swollen hose... no this is for sure not because of air... even if small amount of air will get in it will come out throw bottle reservoir coolant tank ( i have had faulty radiator cap and my reservoir was making bubbles as soon as I replaced the radiator cap with the new one the bubbles stopped)
      upper radiator hose was super swollen cause it's became old and need to be replaced...

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  8 лет назад +1

      +Kelsi Peters I just gave the answer.... add coolant before you will start the engine... don't run the engine with opened cap cause air can go in... I asked somebody to constantly add coolant that's why I was running the engine with opened cap on temporally basis..

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  8 лет назад +1

      +Kelsi Peters use coolant funnel, always make sure that its full with coolant you don't want any air to go to your cooling system...

  • @ArnoneFrank13
    @ArnoneFrank13 11 лет назад

    the "jiggle valve" on the thermostat must be in the 1 0'clock posision for the thermostat to properly function. you will start noticing your engine temp. and problems. also fill the head up with coolant while the thermostat it out.

    Hi, My wife's 2000 dodge neon is overheating. I am not sure what it is. How should I find out what is causing it to overheat? Can you tell me few things I should look for? And also, is the thermostat on my 2000 dodge in the same place as on your 2002 neon? Spasibo

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  9 лет назад

      Mountain Lion Hey.. It could be huge amount of things witch could be causing your wife's Neon to overheat.. I will mention some of them : Low coolant, Low engine oil, bad radiator cap, faulty thermostat witch doesn't open, the cooling fan's failed they don't spin when needed, clogged with rust radiator can drop cooling efficiency as well... Pozhalysta... Спасибо... ;-)

    something strange happens with my car. when im driving for like 10 minutes the check engine light turns on and the temperature needle in the dashboard drops to Cold in a second. Ive already changed the temperature sensor and still does it. do you recommend me to replace the thermostat? or what should i do? ive already went with an electrician and he connected the scanner to see what error code shows up and aparently it shows the temperature sensor. im out of ideas to what it might be. thanks in advance.

    • @gavrilovas1

      The BouncingDande Guy Your vehicle perhaps loosing ground in wire harness somewhere..maybe the temperature sensor that you just replaced is defective or power connector witch is attached to sensor is bad.. I doubt that replacement of thermostat will help you.... You vehicle most likely have electrical issues...

    My sister has a 2005 dodge neon. The thermostat has gone out and had to be replaced 3 times in the last 3 months. What could cause that?

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  9 лет назад

      Ernestine Matthews The quality of thermostate.. It's better for thermostate to be originall, don't safe while buying replacement.. Also it's very important to correctly install him.

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  9 лет назад

      Ernestine Matthews Plus how do you know that it's a faulty thermostate? It also could be huge amount of reason witch are causing your dodge neon to overheat.. It could be cooling fans witch are not reaciving 12 volts, bad radiator, rusty old coolant.. Engine is very worn out , and oil need to be replaced as soon as possible..
