The production work on this track is phenomenal. So juicy and crisp.
The old analogue DnB is much more colourful than the digitally compressed noise that is churned out nowadays.
    Kilimanjaro just hits the spot!

This sound was seminal as fuck when it came through. The anxiety in the dance was off the scale when these riddims were thrown down. Going raving at Metalheadz and hearing the No U Turn releases in '96 on a proper system still stand out as some of my most enjoyable experiences. Big up!

RUclips cannot do this tune justice. I'd like to see a blue plaque on that safestore in Acton one day to denote where proper drum and bass was born.

when such tracks were played at a party and I was seriously stoned, I didn’t even go into the hall, it’s a dark matter...

Thats a sick alien! I need one of them in my chamber of beat making and sensi burning. The tracks hittin that nice verge between cold darkness and atmospheric mysticism, which works. Even better he knows how to use that grimy bass sound in moderation, not just rinsin the whole b-line with it which cheeses up a good chune.

I was refering to what's in the video, namely Nico and his studio where this track along with No U Turn (Nico's label not Ed Rush's) releases were made.

So the painting was done directly on the wall by Toby Brace, and the painting on the wall was photographed at some point and used as the cover art for Hard Leaders 4 - Into the Jungle on Kickin' Records? This what I'm putting together now through the Discogs entry for him linked to the entry for that release. Back in the day I saw a picture of the studio wall somewhere and thought that you all must have somehow gotten a giant poster of the cover art for that record and put it up, but this makes a lot more sense! Anyway, love that art, really incredible. The piece with the Alien-type figure shown at the beginning of this video looks really cool as well.

      Good detective work.
I commissioned Toby to do the murals on the No U Turn studio walls. I called the design you mention ‘the Technics bitch.’
One day visiting Kickin Records offices I see the same design on a CD cover. Wtf! I thought.
Peter Harris, explained that he’d paid Toby for this artwork and I should speak to Toby if there was some sort of problem. I did.
“Why is my studio art on the cover of some dodgy compilation Toby?!”
Toby - “Look, relax Nico, it’s not even a good one. You’ve got the original anyway.”
“Fuck sake Toby, people will now think that music on that comp is something to do with us. I don’t want that link. You’ve been paid once. Why didn’t you give Kickin’ something else instead of selling our Technics bitch to them?”
Toby - “Chill man, the music you guys are doing here is way better. Maybe you should pay me more anyway.” I’m happy. I got paid and I didn’t even have to do anything except give them a photo. Nice work if you can get it I say”.
“Fuck you Toby. I don’t like what you’ve done. Why should I be thinking about Hardleaders covers when I look up from the mixing desk? It wasn’t like that before you pulled this stunt.”
Toby: “Look here Nico. It’s not like I sold them The Alien on your other wall which is way better.”
The Alien in question, Toby described to me as THE VINYL POLICE.
Toby - “ You see Nico - I’ve painted a window, high up in some building in the future, where you guys are still making records but a Vinyl Police Officer has discovered what you’re up to. It should be scary.”
Painted in UV paints, it gave more atmosphere than dull blank studio walls did.
😂 Toby was way smarter than me, and for all of his tortured artist ways, I loved him for being terrifically, overpoweringly honest in everything he said. I miss him.
Hope this helps clarify a little. Thank you for your comment.
