You really captured what makes this character so breathtaking. Penny Dreadful is now my favorite show, and John Clare is my favorite character in it. I'm looking forward to season 3 too. What a tremendous portrayal by Rory Kinnear and writing by John Logan. I love all the characters, but this one has stolen my heart.
+laurakenji You're welcome. When I first watched the episode with a little of his backstory, "Resurrection", I was utterly blown away, and my heart must have fallen on the floor. Of course, "Memento Mori" and "Grand Guignol" where he was the one behind the scenes and so happy I loved as well. Vincent there was so sweet to him, which I also loved. And his scenes with Vanessa are so sweet and wonderful too. She seems to get him. Maybe Lily isn't the one for him after all. I think that Vanessa will be with Ethan eventually, but hmmmmm. I had to wonder *why* in the vision she was given in the finale that her daughter's name was "Clare". Ah well. :)
Oh my goodness this is so good. I've watched the last ep of PD so long ago but I'm still feeling the withdrawal symptoms, and I don't think they'll go away. This is so beautiful. Thank you for portraying the Creature as who he really is.
This is really great, thank you for making this. You're like the only person I've found on youtube that made any videos about Caliban. It's disappointing because he's my favorite and he had the best speech in the show. Really good job!
We may pitty the monster, but we cannot numb ourselves to the pain the man. A man standing yet barely holding himself, speaking yet concealing so much, and hoping yet remaining heartbroken. The future of the creature is uncertain, but then again, what future isn't.

Okay....okay!!! E' davvero difficile trovare le parole giuste per commentare questo video. La scelta di lasciare svolgere tutto il monologo di Caliban per l'intero video e nel mentre metterci le scene a corredare e ad approfondire le sue parole già di per sé è geniale, ma ho adorato come tu abbia sottolineato quanto il "mostro" che non è solo "sul suo volto, ma dentro di lui" dipenda profondamente dal suo essere così solo e rifiutato da tutti, e quanto più lui si sente mostro più si isoli ancora. Tra l'altro la scena in cui rimane solo sullo stage del teatro secondo me è bellissima in questo senso, e tu hai azzeccato in pieno a inserirla, proprio perché sottolinea il suo isolamento (nel momento in cui ha perso forse l'unica persona che l'aveva trattato umanamente) e al tempo stesso il suo essere un "fenomeno da baraccone" per tutti quelli che ha incrociato e che l'hanno disprezzato ;_; e poi il finale, con Victor che abbassa la pistola mentre la musica si quieta di nuovo...bellissimo, davvero bellissimo! Si vede tantissimo dai tuoi video quanto come personaggio lo capisci e lo apprezzi, e io non posso che essere onorata di una tua dedica in un video tanto bello e ben pensato! (Tra l'altro come ti ho detto non me l'aspettavo minimamente e...è stata davvero una sorpresa meravigliosa!) PS: quest'abitudine anche che stai prendendo di inserire quotes libresche alla fine te l'appoggio in pieno! Puoi davvero essere orgogliosa, su tutti i livelli, di questo piccolo gioiellino

He's the reason I became hooked with Penny Dreadful. Never have I seen such a dark, deep and perfectly beautiful portrayal of Frankenstein's monster.

This is the best edit video I've ever seen. His character was brilliant as well as his acting, he was beautiful and misunderstood.
