    I ordered a FNIRSI 2C23T about a month ago but didn't play with it until watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, it really helped to understand how to use it. Also your videos helped to know what quirks to look for and possibly accuracy issues. It is a fun little unit to play with and certainly the one to take on the road when wish to do items away from home. Always take two multimeters with me, so this will quickly become that second multimeter with the bonus of having an Oscilloscope and function generator. Thank You.

    This product is starting to become very popular. As a third video, could you show how to use this oscilloscope to find or measure a faulty component on a power supply, a modem or a computer motherboard? I'm sure this will guide novices like me and enable you to reach more followers. Also, I would appreciate it if you didn't forget to add subtitles. May the strength be with you.

    Great video, both actually . I found your videos after ordering mine . I'm waiting for it to arrive. I am curious after watching your tear-down video if I could 3d print a new topper to expose enough room around the BNC connectors to take shielded probes. Then again maybe I wont as a way to remind myself to avoid high voltage, maybe.
    For me it's a huge gain of space on my desk in the house and I can move some of my other kit to the shop.
    Now if only they make one with a multi CH logic probe packed in with data logging out to PC. LOL That would really clear my desk in the house.

    Many thanks, I did buy one of these and think that for the price it will suit my needs well. I only really wanted a single channel and working on voltages less than 24V DC, so this is fine for me as a hobbyist. I see what you mean for higher voltages on the Oscilloscope side of this device, but I think if you are working with such voltages, you would pay a little more and get something more suited to that line of work.
    Many thanks for the great videos and I will look forward to more in the future.
    Take care and stay safe,

      Hello, there is a secret calibration function (it is in my video at the end), but it is only intended for use by FNIRSI during factory calibration and there are no instructions on how to use it - so don’t!!! You might uncalibrate your device!! The multimeter does provide slightly different reading sometimes, especially with ac / fluctuating voltages as the multimeter attempts to give RMS values. Were you measuring DC?

    At 46:26, the user manual for dual channel usage states: "When dual channels are used simultaneously, the ground clamps of the two probes must be connected together. It is strictly prohibited to connect the ground clamps of the two probes to different potentials, especially at different potential terminals or 220V of high-power equipment. Otherwise, the oscilloscope motherboard will be burned because the two channels are grounded together, and connecting to different potentials will cause a short circuit in the internal ground wires of the motherboard, as is the case with all oscilloscopes." Is there anything you may have forgotten or missed?

      They are very very different types of equipment. Oil and water. The DM303 is designed physically for the harsh environment of the automotive applications and features functions and accessories that are only really relevant to auto diagnostics. The FNIRSI is far from rugged and has specifications better suited for the electronics and electronics repair technician and students. If you are in the automotive industry go for the DM303. @ElectroBananasYT  3 месяца назад +2

      Thank you for your comment Earle. I have found the following information on upgrading the firmware (as of May 2024):
      Firmware V2.0.2 is only intended to fix issues with an older version of hardware. If used on the latest version of hardware, the upgrade will fail and the device will not start.
      To determine if you have the ‘old’ or ‘new’ version of hardware, go to settings and see if you can see the hardware version displayed (hardware may be V0.4 or later). If you cannot see any hardware version, then you have the older version of harware.
      If a device already has the latest version of hardware (V0.4 as of May 2024) a firmware update is not required as it would have been shipped with the latest version of firmware for that hardware (V2.0.1).
      If you have the older version of hardware, then you can upgrade the firmware to V2.0.2.
      I know, a little confusing.
      If you have bricked your device, contact FINIRSI by email / whatsapp. They are usually responsive and helpful.

Mine is a 0.4 hardware version and unfortunately the V2.0.2 update bricked the device. I can get back to boot loader by pressing the reset button and then holding the menu key and pressing power. Hopefully Fnirsi will be able to give me a backlevel firmware to recover it.

    • @ElectroBananasYT
      @ElectroBananasYT  3 месяца назад +1

      Hello, glad you found the videos useful.
      YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU INTEND TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE.
      As of May 2024, I have this following information:
      Firmware V2.0.2 is only intended to fix issues with an older version of hardware.
      If used on the latest version of hardware, the upgrade will fail and the device will not start - you will have bricked your device.
      I think this is why FNIRSI took down the firmware from their website - I suspect that there were many users bricking their devices by trying to download load 2.0.2 to a device with a newer version of the hardware.
      I know, very confusing.
      If you have bricked your device, contact FINIRSI by email / whatsapp. They are usually responsive and helpful.

    You can't measure analog video we refer to as acid test due to trigger, it doesn't have advance triggers as a proper bench scope would as you stated to complex of a signal for it rated specs. As far as digital signal square waves you need 10x the bandwidth analog and a lot more sample rate ADC. So watching your results was kind of expected for specs it claimed. The major issue is jitter and timing notice is pretty bad with this one, could be they are overclocking the ADC's? It good only for PASS, or No GO like most handheld of this price. I won't recommend for anyone that starting off, or using it instead of a bench scope at a a bench using as their main scope.
    One question is the channels isolated from each other. grounds on BNC's not shared, they claimed it was which would make it useful if it actually is? If you can measure the ground between the BNC GROUND? When they stated that it peaked my interest especially for the size it is. I actually considered buying one just to see if it does? If it does will be one of my main portable scopes that will be used as repair switch mode supplies and control units and it's small size throw in a bag and make it lighter as have to carry a lot of gear around the city and in a lot of cases have to take subway due to not practical and pain to drive in downtown area. The only other thing wish it had 5mV like my oversize truly isolated handheld Tektronix scope vertical sensitivity. The Owon does but channels not isolated so have to use a battery powered signal generator to offset, or bring differential probe.
    The scope section would be ok for HV so long channels are isolated from each other and you are using a appropriate resistor divider HV probe to the voltages are measuring, I measured 300v all the time and as high as 4kv on my Tektronix portable all the time and has the setting to accurate measure it with the appropriate HV probe. it is the main reason people buy these handhelds, especially us that repair power supplies. The multimeter won't trust for high current as lacking in protection area, when compared to a proper CAT rated Fluke multimeter. I had coworker manage to blow the flukes up even. For bench use the multimeter would be ok for low current, the multimeter section is better then my HDS3102m-n that costs way more like $425 more.
    The crosstalk may be another issue as no shields on this one, I wonder if that has something to do with the jitter I saw in your test, as seem to be worst when you enable the other channel? Good way to test is use one of the channels keep other channel on and put vertical to 10mV and see if that channel pickup the signal from channel you are using?

    • @ElectroBananasYT
      @ElectroBananasYT  8 месяцев назад

      Hello, thank you for your very interesting feedback. I did measure the grounds. Both the scope inputs, the sig gen output and the USB port all have their ground connections connected together. Note that the input sensitivity only goes down to 20mV/div. I will test the cross talk as you suggested and will let you know - good point.
      Regarding the ADCs and the jittery triggering. With reference to my teardown video (35:45), I did have some concern on the spec of the ADCs as most of the refences to the specs of this device gave a spec of 35 MSPS rather than 50 MSPS, so you may be correct on the oversampling.

    • @thetechgenie7374
      @thetechgenie7374 8 месяцев назад

      @@ElectroBananasYT Figured they lied about the two “isolated channels” they claimed in one of their picture advertisements. They would have to use optocoupler for that to be true and didn’t notice any in the scope section in your video. So wouldn’t be useful for power supply repair. It a Fnirsi so not surprising on the false advertisement. Do suspect same as you it a 35MS/s ADC and they are oversampling as well? I have handhelds one channel scopemeter that do a real 40 MS/s and signal stable on those even past the analog front end bandwidth.

      If you connect the FNIRSI to the PC, it appears as an external drive and you can see the bitmap images of any screenshots you have saved. You can also store a new start-up screen here if you wish to change it (details of how to do this are in the manual). If you enter bootloader mode on the FNIRSI and connect it to a PC, another external drive will appear that you use to download and store new firmware.

      Sorry I don’t know. However if you have a look at the section of the video that covers the function generator, we work out the output impedance. It is 100ohms. So this will limit the max current and provide a degree of short circuit protection to the device
