I really like the design and your process description. Great job! I’m saving this video to come back and rewatch when it’s time for me to make a bench.
Very nice work! How did the Tight-bond glue hold? I have always been told to use a polyurethane glue like Gorilla Glue due to the oil in Ipe. I also use acetone on edges before glue up. I am currently experimenting with table top glue ups to see what works long term. I demoed some decks about 10 years ago and kept all the wood, so large supply!
Thanks! That's great that you have a large supply of ipe, it is such a great wood! The glue joints have held up great! The bench has been sitting outside in the weather for over a year, and still everything is good and solid, no cracks in the joints.
Beautiful. Have you had any trouble with glue joints failing? I've cleaned with acetone, then glued liberally, but found some boards just wouldn't stay together. So now I back every connection with glue and screws.
Thanks! All the joints have been holding up great so far. On almost all joints, I used either screws or dowels in addition to the glue, so I'm hoping for the best. It's been sitting outside in the weather since I made it about 6 months ago, and so far so good.
Thanks so much! I designed it myself, the plans I made are only readable by me, I’ve thought about drawing nice plans to give away to viewers, but I don’t have them at this time
I designed it myself! I've been considering cleaning up and better documenting the plans that I make for my projects and make them available to folks who watch the videos. But it may be a while, next year likely.
@@jimscott3060 That's a great question, I should probably include some comments about that in all my build videos, because there is almost always something that I'd improve on the design the next time. On this project, I think I would make the back of the bench a couple inches taller.. it just looked a little out of proportion. I might also set the legs an inch farther apart, again just for looking proportionate.
Excellent work
Thank you!
Beautiful woodwork, Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much!
That looks wonderful!
Thank you! And thanks for all of your great comments on my videos!
Wish you posted more often by far my favorite wood working channel
Wow! Thank you so much!

Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful work, I’ve just started working with Brazilian hardwood and was looking for tips.
Thank you ! Glad it was helpful!

Thank you kindly!
Good lord that thing must weight a ton! Nice work!

Great build! Would you mind sharing how much of this wood did it take to build the bench? And where did you buy it from? Thank you
Thanks! I used 1 piece of 2x6 8ft long, and 5 pieces of 1x6 8ft long. They were all sold as decking material at a local decking supply store.
Beautiful.

Thats a beautiful bench!!
Thank you!
What was the total cost of the wood? It’s great to see somebody use this wood on a bench.
It was a total of about $380 for all of the wood. I bit pricey, but worth it I think, because the wood is so beautiful and will survive well outdoors!
Very Very Nice! Where did you get the plans? I think I will make one! Thanks

@@jkmwoodworking If you do, I want a set please. This is very great looking. I also like the idea of using epoxy on the feet.
Looks great reminds of a bench I seen at Mount Vernon. What do you estimate the weight of the bench.
Thanks! I think it is around 80-100 lbs. pretty heavy!
Do you have plans available
Not at this time. I’ll let you know if I get the plans available in the future
How much does the lumber cost..?
I don't remember exactly, but it was around $400-$500
Where did you get the plans from???

Would you change any part of your design?
