I like that she don't feel the need to change the lyrics into a "girl version" which means that she's comfortable with it even though it clearly was about wanting to marry a girl. And well it's Colbie, so I don't need to say anymore about her voice.
+E Drew no kidding right? if she was really trying to make it into all that she would have changed some of the words & not called herself a boy you would think
+E Drew it's not 'reading into it' when it's blatant. Interpreting a woman singing about loving another woman as gay isn't really that hard. It's irrelevant whether that's the intent behind it seeing as it's a cover
So wrong... It becomes a song a girl (Colbie) is singing 'about' a guy who is in love and seeking the girl he loves to marry her... You totally distorted it... reading into it a meaning of your own brain... which you have the freedom to do as long it is your own opinion... but making a blanket statement that 'this is what it means' is completely subjective and shouldn't be said as 'gives a whole new meaning' as though everybody should agree with you!
OMG she is amazing ! Colbie needs more attention ! WTF is wrong with ppl these days ? Instead of listening to this awesome woman, ppl listen to Nicki minaj and shit .
Colbie NEVER failed to amaze me! That time I discovered her (years ago) I was into rock, punk, metal and all that crazy stuff and ONLY STRICTLY music from those genres but when I first heard her debut song off MTV, I somehow got drawn into her. That's when you know someone is just that damn good!
Wonderful cover. I love that she didn't change the gender, both for the general integrity reasons, and also because it gives you a new way to interpret the song.
I honestly think this song is much better sung by a lady. It just makes much more sense. Though I still like the original song this one is just so much better because it makes sense. Maybe it's just me.
+Dave Morgan she really does have one the smoothest/most pleasant sounding voices in music today. i can't stand that screechy chit from "artists" like ariana grande.
I'm proud to say that I still listen to her albums and this song reminds me of her cover or Turn your lights down low with Justin Young. Awesome singers!
The fact that she sings about how it's rude for someone judging her loving a girl. This version just makes it so much better. I love how she didn't change the pronouns too
Beautiful cover version. Heard this last year. How many times has Rude been covered? Has their ever been a song so covered as this one? It's incredible. Wonder if Magic! get royalties on every cover version? They'd be seriously minted!! Maybe that's why there's no new album as yet.
Not to compare because I love them both, but the first time I ever heard Kina Grannis sing, I kept thinking her voice sounded somewhat familiar. Is it just me or does anyone else agree that Colbie and Kina sound a little bit alike?? Although they are two different people, they both have unique voices. I would kill to see them duet together! 💜
What's the big deal about pronoun changing? Honestly--you might construe it as a "musical no homo" but...if you're covering another song, it's YOUR version. You sing how you feel is right for you--maybe you have a significant other in mind when you sing and they don't use the pronouns from the original song. Jeez. If you don't cover music, don't judge. -_-
Personally, I think the fact that she didn't change the pronouns adds a whole new level to the song. In the original it's never really clear why the father disapproves of them getting married but when it's sung by a girl (and she doesn't change the pronouns) it becomes apparent that the father is homophobic. I love it, I think it really enhances the song. Props to Colbie!
The best cover of magic!-rude I ever listen.
Agreed!!
I love how Colbie didn't change the lyrics and her voice is just ♥

No one can top the original but this is freaking good
agreed with u
I agree.
i feel like all the covers om youtube sound just like her or just as good
How do you know that no one can top the original? What are you, omniscient?
Ah, I liked the original but I love this version more!

Gives a whole new meaning to the song when she does it. Goes from a guy in love to a girl overcoming the hate tied to her sexuality. Love it
+ssarrahh0427 Jeez, talk about reading way too much into this...
+E Drew no kidding right? if she was really trying to make it into all that she would have changed some of the words & not called herself a boy you would think

@@briantamsnaa she's not singing about a boy tho? it goes "*i*" many times

Lol! I completely agree to you!
21whichiswhich thanks
People have different interests, you simply need to get over it.
yo you can actually listen to both? dont put down one lady to support another, its tacky as hell
anna c Thank you.
her voice is gold

one of the best cover of Rude. colbie is one of the underrated singers out there.
This really gives the song a new meaning
Wonderful cover. I love that she didn't change the gender, both for the general integrity reasons, and also because it gives you a new way to interpret the song.

Definitely not just you
"You'll never get my blessing"? "You're an old-fashioned man"? It really just makes more sense this way
i think its maybe cuz we r gay? idk just an assumption
It's just you.... ✌️
I love this cover. Still checking it out 4 years later!!!!!!!!!!!
Her voice is perfect for this song--she made me fall in love with it!
I've been doing it wrong all this time. Now I know it's Colbie Caillat's voice that you're supposed to spread on toast.
+Dave Morgan she really does have one the smoothest/most pleasant sounding voices in music today. i can't stand that screechy chit from "artists" like ariana grande.
PLUM THUM I agree with you. Her voice is just amazing doesn't require auto tune or editing like most "artists"
YASSS SHE SLAYED THIS SONG
i've seen so many covers of that song and this was by far the best one!
I live how she didn't change the words just because she's a girl. I hate when people do that😞
Paige Bluedorn Yeah, and then they call it "girl version" 😑. Like, some girls got a girlfriend :)
I personally love it and think it's cool.
I couldn't agree more 😉
It literally sounds like her own. I love it!
when I FIRST HEARD COLBIE I HAD NOT SEEN HER ,AND FOR A YEAR I NEVER KNEW WHAT SHE LOOKED LIKE,BUT SHE HAS THE CUTEST VOICE OF ANYONE
Colbie- Thank you for this version. Blew me away. Thanks
her voice gives me summer vibes 🌴🌞🌊
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
I love your voice, Colbie
Colbie always makes everything better
I'm still OBSESSED with this cover
Bless you, my lesbian heart needed a cover like this
You worried about hell?
I'm proud to say that I still listen to her albums and this song reminds me of her cover or Turn your lights down low with Justin Young. Awesome singers!
I like how it changes the story a little by being sung by a girl. ^_^
I think it's much more realistic :P
Awesome cover
I agree... it feels more right...
It makes more sense and more heartfelt (but that's just my opinion)
I love it when other artists cover eachothers songs.. it shows that they too can be fans of other artists craft.
expected nothing less than the best from colbie, but i freaking love the drummer's voice. #amazing
I actually like the version better :) love them both tho. I've seen Colbie and Magic live, and both were incredible :)
Amazing.
And the guy with the beenie!! So heart eyes
I love it that she didn't change the gender when singing. :)

You mean marry
Exactly!
Fine, then Kwanza that boy
@@jewmaxin1984 lol
It woulda been neat if she'd made it completely from a hetero female pov too.
In today's #humpday video, Colbie Caillat reminds you to not be so rude.
***** no
Yes!
+SiriusXM where can I buy this?
Her voice is so perfect omf
The fact that she sings about how it's rude for someone judging her loving a girl. This version just makes it so much better. I love how she didn't change the pronouns too

This is an awesome cover and all but the guitarist is just... HOT. 😍
Lil Red Riding Rude His name is Fredrik Strand Halland :)
Thank you for not changing pronouns.
Right :) I hate when people change the pronouns, like it's just a song.
Ally Rae Exactly!
Seriously. Like what is the point of changing the original song? It's literally just a musical no homo. Ridiculous
