I’ve always done well at this venue in the area you moved to for the Carp. It is snaggy, but that’s why the Carp seem to frequent that area. Regarding the ‘line discussion’, fully agree with what you’re saying about diameter. For me, stretch is an important part of using mono, and unless you go to extremes, diameter is fairly irrelevant. Tackle companies spout so much bullsh*t about renewing certain items (of course, it’s in their ‘profit’ interest to do so). Their ‘experts’ & ‘sponsored anglers’ recommend you renew your reel line at least (depending on amount of use) once a year? I’ve had line on some of my reels for 10yrs (stored in a reel case, with no exposure to sun/daylight) & the line is still perfect & meets the quoted breaking strain. If only more anglers sat & thought about some of the rubbish they hear from tackle companies & reasoned it logically - instead of spending/wasting unnecessary money. As the saying goes, rods/reels/line/hooks/general tackle accessories catch more anglers than fish!🤔 All orchestrated by the sales teams of large/profitable tackle makers. Anyway, great days fishing, & great video as always. Wrightington is one of my favourite North West venues.👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎣

Carp will definitely love being in and out of those snags. I agree a lot of big company RUclips channels are designed around getting you to spend money on things that you don’t need. We have all fallen foul of it at one point or another. I tend to change my line every year but that’s because of how often I’m on the bank! But they would have us changing to 5/6lb line in the winter then 8lb in the summer 😂 your not telling me that a fish can see the difference of 0.03. Fishing is such a touchy area everyone has there own ideas of how to do things, truthfully there is no right or wrong. Folk should what works best for them and stick to that method 🎣🐟👍🏻 thanks for taking the time to write us that comment Ken !

@@WestysAngling All the Carp in my local lakes carry micrometers & only bite on lines of 0.22 & below!😏🤣🤣🤣 Fully agree with your philosophy Westy, use & buy what suits you & stick with it if it’s successful👍🏻

Hey dude, went to wrightington today with the old man and had a really good day. Ended up on the Rivington lake started almost in the same place as where you guys were dad got a nice carp and I got 2 bream and a large roach. Went a bit slow so moved down to the far end and I got 3 carp from 7-9lb and I had one snap off. I was using float and method feeder. Really can recommend this place enough definitely going back in a couple of weeks

That’s absolutely brilliant ! I think some fish have certainly moved into the shallows this week because of the mild weather so that doesn’t surprise me that you had a good session down the far end. I’m glad you had a good session off the back of my videos ! Tight lines 👌🏻🎣

If you are looking for a good carp bait to try, either use the pineapple crush or the strawberry cream Instant action nash boilies, probably either 10-12mm in winter time, great bait with either a loose feed of boilies or a pva bag of pellets or crushed boilies

Never had any of the Preston method come off, this is not saying you are doing something wrong as your set up is totally correct must just be caused by the fish bolting off, another great video.I would like to see you do a video at pheasants wood up near out Rawcliffe great fishery cafe and toilets on site,I travel from Bolton to there quite regularly.

I had a chat to my Dad about this David and I think because I have my rods pre made up in my bag they potentially become loose as I have had it with the Preston ones also ! I need to get in the habit of tightening them back on the stems before I start fishing 🎣 I will put it on the list ! 👍🏻👌🏻🐟

Wud just say that heavier feeders do lose more smaller fish. Think its just the weight swinging about that pulls the hook out 🥴
Also cant get my head around you netting fish with your right hand? 🤔So you av to keep swapping hands to use the reel 😉

Good work with the vids mate !
This is my own experience / what I have found...
Personally in winter I've always done best in the shallows (day time) I believe this is due to the shallower water warms up faster... The only time I've found deeper water to be better is at night as the deeper water will hold some heat or when it's extremely cold and they have almost gotten stuck as the cold can put them into a deep sleep.
Give it ago... anything above 5 degrees I've always had better luck in the shallower part of the lakes as it warms up faster...
    What are your thoughts ?

  • @phil-th3vx

On the landing net mesh did the bait stop or hook or even wafters get caught up at any time or drop through I'm presuming it's the hair mesh landing net that's meant for feeder fishing
