Tucked In Deep! - Metal Detecting an Abandoned 1700s Home Swallowed Under Thick Brush!

- This week we get permission to metal detect this old 1700's homestead that was abandoned decades ago. There is still a small animal business on the property but no one lives in the original house and that's the ground we are most interested in. We weren't prepared for just how dense the brush was that swallowed up most of the old portion of the property, but we made the most of the day and pulled out some pretty amazing pieces!

The coin's reverse depicts a fasces, symbolizing unity and strength, and an olive branch, signifying peace.
A Fasces was an axe made of a large bundle of wood sticks lashed together.
My grandpa asked us if we could see the pig crossing the bridge when we were little. Now that is all I can see. (Turn it sideways.)
Great to see the USAF keeping the skies safe above you while you work 😃
Nice stir up Charlie. Great Indian head penny Doug. Spectacular seated dime Jeff. Cool token Charlie. Awesome large cent Jason. Beautiful brooch piece Doug. Great looking Mercury dime Jason.
Nice meeting you Doug and Chris at Digstock, Nicole and I didn't find a lot, but had a good time.
Heading to DigStock Friday morning! Hope to see you all there!
@@dogtagdoug6751 I haven’t seen you guys yet! I hope to meet you all at some point!
Great hunt guys, sat down, terrific coins, buckles and Charlie’s token👋👍

That looks like the kind of place that is hiding much more under all that brush- would love to know what's still there! You all did well, regardless of the growth, with some great coins & relics. Congrats to all and have a great time at Digstock!
Thanks for bringing us along and great early finds!!
More to come from that place surely?? Another great video 🤩
cool property
Love the 1918 Mercury , My Grandparents on Dads side
married in 1920
On the back of the dime it's a Fascia . Great finds as always
See you guys at Digstock! Always enjoy the videos.
Fun hunt! Love the token!
Awesome finds fellas !! Y’all killed again , seems that place may be a gem ! Thanks for sharing
😊 always a good time.
I like the little suits on the horses.
I love seeing and hearing those jets. THATS the sound of freedom! 😊
Great vid! They look like Hibiscus flowers on the buckle brooch
Cool relics thanks for sharing!!!!
Looking forward to seeing y'all at Digstock!
Some pretty cool finds even though it was very overgrown. Loved Doug's ornate piece. Hope y'all have an awesome time at Digstock!
Another great hunt love watching your videos looking forward to the next one God Bless and happy dirt fishing…Virgil
Can't wait to catch back with you, Doug, Charlie, and finally getting to meet Rich this coming weekend at Digstock. I'm heading out tomorrow am bright and early, see ya'll this weekend!!
Pacific Northwest Diggers will be at Digstock, too! Awesome chance to meet you Guys, and Gals!!
That’s awesome, looking forward to seeing you there. Safe travels!
the back of Charlie's coin looks like Grant's tomb in NY. Nice little "round table" at the end there.
I won't be attending this DigStock yet I am attending the Come Out Swinging event in Pennsylvania in early April. I would love to see you guys again 💖
Man I sure wish we had that kind of history here in Montana!! We have some late 1800s places to go but nothing with the potential of finding 1700s items!!
Beautiful coin! Great hunt!
Great detecting video. Thanks for sharing!
Have fun at digstock !
The Matron head looks like a modified Matron version. 1837-39. I wish I could find out who's in charge of all the abandoned old homes here so I could search em. The ones I see look similar to that one. Yall got some cool stuff. Awesome SL dime. 😃
Beautiful ladies belt buckle? Or ladies square floral hair pin.
I just love your videos 💕
That would make a great project to fix up!
I'm really looking forward to digstock! I watch a lot of channels and they're probably all going to be there. I really appreciate you bringing us entertainment regularly. I stopped watching TV and movies long ago. I'm not familiar with Jeff and when you first went over to him I thought it was Lynn's son and he had a bigger bushier beard and I wondered how he grew it so fast haha!
Nice hunt Guys ,Congrats Charlie AWESOME Token 👊
My apologies I haven't been viewing your channel lately. That brass medallion looks to be a Johnstown Pennsylvania flood memorial token of some kind I hope this helps.
Stay humble keep safe HH and see y'all next time.
Hi Jason. The finds were few but you & the boys recovered some beauties. I love the design of the American coins with the Australian coins quite bland compared to yours. I love detecting because you just don't know what is under the coil. Love your channel & the banter you have with Doug. Cheers, Pete (down under).
Have a blast at DIGSTOCK QH CREW!!! Miss you all. Hopefully see you at DDPA or even Joe DeMarco's memorial hunt in October.
Nice job kids!!
A big harness buckle that would hold the traces to a harness collar and a stirrup, made of steel so if the horse falls it won't crush the rider's foot!
Whoa already 4 Seateds in the early part of this year 😃 Congrats Doug 💖 on finding that awesome IHP!! I've only found my Seated quarter love token last March, I still need to find the other Seateds 🤞
Beautiful Largie Jason!! Cool token find Charley ☺️ with the guys bust on it is a brain teaser 🤔 Gorgeous brooch find Doug 😃
I think the confusing one is a type of broach that sits at the neck to hold scarves/shawls in place. If I'm correct (not an expert), the bar would sit closest to the skin with only the square being visible on the outside...kind of pinched around the cloth it would hold in place.
The wreath on the IHP is an Oak Wreath. 1859 is the only year with the Laurel wreath.
Boy that large medallion is amazing. Been searching the web since I first saw it. No luck yet. Interesting thing is that the busts of most figures on what I'm finding are facing left not right, so that should help narrow it down if someone could find a match. Also looks to me like "Annual Encampment" with a year designation in front of it like 34th or something. The dates at the bottom of the other side look like maybe "1896 - 1897"??? And the name like someone else mentioned: Albert, Alfred, Alanzo and Danty or Daney or Da???. Did a Find-a-Grave search and found some possibilities but nothing to be able to base an id on.
I see the "Annual Encampment", too. I've found G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) stuff with "Annual Encampment" on them, but so far that isn't helping me.
I read the annual encampment and the dates you saw too. A little careful conservation and that will be a great piece.
Charlie’s medal is a GAR medal. On the front it says Department Commander at the top, 1896-1897 at the bottom. In the center is the bust of Alfred Darte. On the reverse side is the monument and cemetery of the victims of the Johnstown flood. At the top of the reverse it says 31st Annual Encampment and at the bottom it says Dept. of PA. G.A.R. It is made of bronze and would have originally had a clasp ring attached to an ornate bar, lettered in fanciful characters, DELEGATE with a Red ribbon and upper bar, on which was a view of the hall of Post 30, G. A. R., with a floreated border and a ribbon below, lettered JOHNSTOWN 1897.
Hey fellas.. good luck @digstock!! Looking forward to the video. We’re you planning on goin to COS April Fools weekend?? God speed & safe travels!
Nice finds at this old homestead. Coins, buckle, medallions. See you on the next! 🙂👍🇺🇸
I really liked Doug’s brooch, the designs from that period We’re always so elaborate. If you’re gonna throw that away, Doug, I’ll take it. As usual, great video.
Hello Quarter Hoarder,Dog Tag Doug,Rich and Matt
Have a Great time at Digstock!
Safe travels. See you at Digstock
It’s pretty mind-blowing how quickly places can become overgrown and reclaimed by Mother Nature. Across from my parents’ place it is nothing but woods, but it was all a farm field as recently as the 1960s. I would’ve never known until I found a stone wall around the perimeter of where the field used to be and done the research.
Some nice finds on the day for everyone
Once a fun day out. Many thanks 😊
Lots of great finds on this hunt. Quite a variety. Dougs buckle broach was pretty but when it comes to beauty Lynn wins every time!
Have fun at digstock you guys, have fun!
That's awesome I hope to see you guys at Digstock we are staying in Rocky Mount. Carl
Looking forward to meeting you Carl! Safe travels my friend.
That is such a beautiful old home and a good place to find treasures!
Another cool video guys. Like those awesome relics, Doug's ladies buckle / brooch and the IHP, Charley's brass token coin, Jason's 1918 mercury dime and matron largie, cool mini horses, Jeff's seated dime
I think Doug's find is a sash buckle... that's my guess anyway..great video as always
Doug’s find was amazing! I also liked the fighter jets. Best pilots ever.
Great hunt as always guys! Digstock is on my bucket list! I hope you guys get to come back to treasure fest in Arkansas and you bring the whole crew this time 🤞🏼
Great finds guys thanks for sharing 👍👍❤️
How’s it going everyone. Very nice hunt there. Congrats on the Copper and 1918 Mercury Dime Jason. Doug nice IHP and the Victorian Brotch Beautiful. Love the Token. Hope you’ll be able to find out more on it. Can’t forget the 1856 Seated Dime. Big Congrats. Have fun at Dig Stock all of you. Take Care.

Doug congratulations on the 1885 Indian. Jason, they show is always. Love you guys I do my own digging also; love taking out my own detectors can't wait for spring. Good fortunes on your future digs.
wait...what happened to your speaker on that newer mach?? I'm loving that old barn!!..the red 1
I'm out here . But I think Lynn is wonderful. Great finds great day no doughty. Good for you all
Great hunt, guys! Have fun at Dig Stock! We are headed to COS at the end of the month.
The fasces on the dime was meant to be a modern take on the "don't tread on me" symbol. The fasces has been a symbol of the strength of government and the people for thousands of years, but it's wrapped in an olive branch a symbol of peace.
@@dogtagdoug6751 hope to see you guys at Digstock!
That token Charlie Harley found looks to be of civil war area. The monument on the reverse looks like the state of Pennsylvania memorial in Gettysburg. They have the largest one on the battlefield. My friend and I did our civil war circle in 2013. We went to Atlanta, Chattanooga, Antietam, Harper's Ferry, and Gettysburg (150th anniversary). Great video as always. My Tuesday is not complete until watching the crew.
Charlie’s medal is a GAR medal. On the front it says Department Commander at the top, 1896-1897 at the bottom. In the center is the bust of Alfred Darte. Awesome finds brother🤙🏽🤟🏼. Can’t wait to hunt with you guys in May for the detecting the Heartland hunt!!
Cool finds ...Not alot of quantity but very good quality....Have a safe trip to Digstock...👍
Excellent video awesome content thank you for sharing this six stars my friends
Can't complain about the fighter jets keeping you safe from the balloon invasion.
The balloon invasion started at the Dollar Store 🤓!
Just to add. What is on the Reverse of your Mercury Dime l have seen it behind your Speaker of Congress on the wall. I think there were two of them. All the best. Pete (down under).
So awesome guys!!!!!!
good job on the homestead guys!
Great camera work, cool finds.

I truly appreciate this information. Your time spent researching my incredible historical find is very rewarding to me. Thank you so much! Charley Harley
You’re very welcome Charley! Congrats on finding such a great piece of history. Being an old history teacher I love the historic relics we can discover metal detecting. Happy hunting!
I heard the legend was changing their coil to 30 whatever that is but it’ll make it more expensive is that true? Love your shows keep going boys! Oh yeah, I blame you for my Addiction To this sport! but what fun it is. There’s always tomorrow! Thanks
Like all ways great video guys..
What a cool looking house
The large coin looks like Woodrow Wilson
Sweet token! Great hunt Guys!! I wish I was heading to digstock with you! So bummed but definitely the next one!! Wicked happy hunting! 👊
Shame you can’t make this one but you’re right, there’s plenty more events coming up that I’m sure to see you at.
Hey Chris. You should try to get down for Come out swinging in Charlie neck of the woods. Great event. Looks like great property. & best of all, not in the Carolina’s! Lol.. jk
Great finds!
)h my!! difficult, but good luck guys!!!!
Proud owner of 3 legends now,... And I prefer ONLY the stock coil and sniper coil
That monument on the token looks very very much like the unknown plot statue at Grandview in Johnstown PA. Pretty certain the top of It says _ _ th annual encampment. The obverse side with the man looks like it says commander on the right top. The last name {we assume} appears to be DA _ _ _. Maybe Alfred?? 189-something for dates. So close, yet so far! We looked for well over an hour!

Great hunt as always, love that big token/coin. What is the brand of glasses of shame that you use Jason? Asking because I have to use them now too.
