My God you've gotten so much better. The pacing, the dead air, so much better. I love your videos. Gonna go comment on them all in hopes to push the algorithm lol
@@HPRshredder we are always looking forward for your next video. It has being a joy to follow your journey through game history and as a content creator.
I love your review videos so much more than any others I've seen on RUclips. The first one I saw was the Metroid video and I was hooked by the Terence McKenna quote about the psychedelic experience. 😅Thanks for making these videos and keep up the great work!
Love the new goals! I find the consistency part the hardest personally, I give myself a "vacation" after a big video and I end up getting carried away with it 😅 But definitely keep up the momentum, I feel like I'm watching the early days of a huge channel, can't wait to tell people "I was watching him at 1k subs" only to get called a hipster or something.
Dragon Warrior II is a vast, wonderful world to explore. Most people think it's too hard, which is understandable, but I loved it because I prefer games to be on the harder side. The difficulty makes it necessary to search every nook and cranny, which I thought was a good thing because the world is beautiful and full of things to discover. It felt like a real adventure but it's not for everybody because there are moments in which you just don't know what to do.
A stream of Adventure Island oh boy. Also on my wishlist would be streams of Adventure Islands 2 and 3, Castlevania 3, Little Nemo Dream Master, Tiny Toons Adventures and Life Force
I'm really pleased to see Castlevania hitting the S tier. Absolutely agreed, one of the legit GOATs. This is such a chill video, mate. Absolutely loving these vibes so far.
that metroid guide was the first video I saw on your channel. It actually really helped me and I never got the best ending until I used your guide. I been watching your other video retrospectives and they're great! I been binging them all
Thanks for always giving us such an insight into your thoughts and the production of the series, seeing the lineup for next season I absolutely can’t wait, especially for Ai Senshi Nicol and Salamander since those are both games that I’ve wanted to get into, but I’ll definitely watch your videos on them first😎 thank you for making such a great series, for people newly getting into Famicom games like me it’s an incredible resource and just cool for being so in-depth, something lots of retro game reviewers don’t do to this degree!
I'm glad the algorithm brought me to your channel. There's so few people these days who try to meet these old games on their level, and I appreciate that so much that combined with you're honestly stellar editing, and the general chill atmosphere really make this channel great.
Your work was recommeded to me around spring 2023, and I very much enjoy it. It is enjoyable to see someone do an independent analysis of video games from before their time. In addition, your calm demeanor and manner of speech. Combined with minimal vulgarity make it great for listening in the background.
I think it's absolutely fine for you to play the game of RUclipss thumbnail importance. You have such a chill vibe though I think it would be nice if you didn't look angry or annoyed in the thumbnail expressions, it doesn't represent the near asmr-ness of your calm appraisals of the games. Best on youtube is accurate, hopefully you're going to keep on rising!
That is a good suggestion for the thumbnails. Usually I try to make myself laugh with my own face while editing the thumbnails because I find the process to be a bit ridiculous, but it's true that it doesn't really represent what to expect in the video. It'll probably be a while before I fully figure out what I want to do with them. Thumbnails probably stress me out more than any other part of the video-making process.
Just wanted to say that I just discovered your channel and I totally love your videos. Smart, thorough, insightful, reflective... You're just doing something great that not a lot of youtubers are doing. Would love to see you cover different genres and eras of games too!
Eventually I plan to incorporate more systems into the mix other than just Famicom, but I still do one-of videos on games not of that era from time to time. Thanks for the comment!
This is Brett. Hayden's best man speech was flawless in case you had any doubt. I love this video and getting your thoughts on all the behind the scenes type stuff.
Oh I'm ready for the new season, only played a few of those including getsu fumma so a lot of uncharted territory. Also the amount of times I have played Castlevania 1 and 3 is super up there, I know it like the inside of my car. For the thumbnails, face is fine I would say the thing to shoot for is some kind of consistency at least from the viewer point of view, on glance I don't always realize it's one of your videos though I like the look I just don't associate it with you right away. Face obviously solves that but there are other routes. Castlevania is the easiest S tier to me, even higher than Zelda 1 imo. For me not only is it a tight well crafted experience but the boss combat is a lot of fun, while Metroids is lacking there and Zeldas ganon fight was a let down. Climbing those stairs to fight Dracula...goosebumps dude!
Keep it up. When an artist looks back at their work, they always think of ways to make it better. I know this is an old video but I hope you keep it up. Very enjoyable.
I dont remember how I found your channel, might have been either the Dragon Quest or Zelda video. I think your editing is great, I love seeing smaller channels put out real quality. Keep up the good work. Cant wait for Dragon Quest 2.
I'm hoping I can keep it up -- I do worry about making a video that's too boring or not informative enough. It's hard to strike a balance sometimes. I don't think I've nailed it yet. But Season 3 is going to be about trying to get into a groove and hit 1 video a month I'm proud of.
I just finished your metroid video recently and am glad to have found someone else who loved that game! My first experience with it was this year at 24 on switch online. I used no guide and drew my own map on paper. It is in my top 10 games modern or retro easily.
this is a great series, it's nice seeing someone younger play these old games (i'm 44, first system was atari 2600, which i got a year before i started kindergarten). hope you continue!
found the channel a few months back through the metroid video and i'm loving the earnest and exploratory approach you have to these games. gonna work my way back through all the vids i missed. keep it up!!
Your reviews and retrospectives on these old games are very enlightening. I just discovered these videos today, and they make me want to play these games. Maybe even 'without' a guide. To play them as intended. Metroid and Zelda especially. Never beaten the latter.
Found this channel yesterday via RUclips’s Metroid algo. Let’s go Retro Odyssey. This is excellent. The honesty, the channel growth, the passion, I’m in my guy. I am upset with SMB’s tier placement but we can have that discussion a different day. Can’t wait for Punch-Out and Rock Man episodes. Oh and the season 3 recap. Keep it up, it’s fun and as you’ve mentioned the traction is starting to come.
I’m glad you found the channel and I appreciate the comment! I am especially excited to play Rock Man. I already love the title track, I know that much. I will be revisiting the earlier games eventually to see how my thoughts compare once the series is a little further along. I’m curious to see how I feel about SMB in the future. But I know Castlevania and Metroid have done a lot more for me so far. (Though, I already know Super Mario 3 is next-level)
Found this channel a day or two ago and I've already watched and liked almost all of your videos. Good stuff, man. Your format is cool and unique, even if it took a couple of videos to click with me. I hope this comment helps to boost the algorithm for you even if just by 0.001%.
Mate, I love everything about your videos. I love the longer length and the seriousness of review which goes into every detail and love the lofi music and vibe of your channel, shots of the old school screen play and detailed shots of the box and cart etc. You've made something of beauty. I only discovered you about a month ago and watching going though all your videos! Thank you! Keep it up! ❤
Thank you so much for the comment! I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos. Always feels nice when someone appreciates the details. I'm working on more -- aiming for one every month-ish right now for season 3.
Just wanted to say your videos are my favorite retro games reviews on RUclips and inspired me to make my own video review of Metroid which I’m working on right now. Also your production value is second to none, better then guys with half a millions of subs, it’s very inspiring!
Hey man! I recently found your channel (finished Zelda II and wanted to see an analysis of it so searched "zelda II analysis" and looked for one of the longer length videos) and I gotta say, super high quality stuff. Your shots and lighting are absolutely beautiful, your commentary and editing are great, and you also just seem like a genuinely nice, kind dude which I think goes a long way. Got a subscription from me, keep up the great work as long as it's fun for you :) I would love to know what kind of gear you're using for your set, btw. Specifically the camera, but all of it just looks so great!
I use* a Fujifilm X-T3 body with the Fujinon 16-55mm f/2.8 WR lens for all of the camera work and I record footage from the camera and gameplay footage with an Atmos Ninja V. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoy the videos so far! I'm working on several more right now.
(SORRY THIS IS A LONG ONE AGAIN I can't help it!!! AAH) Really glad you made this video and not only gave us a good behind-the-scenes kinda look and told us what a trip season 2 was, but that you're also looking back with positive emotions, too! You're usually pretty humble and I know the feeling of not wanting to toot your own horn too much, but at the very least in this particular case, it is well deserved, because especially the things you brought up were worth being proud of. I think I might have to go back and watch the Zelda 2 one again; seeing clips from it here got me excited for that video again lol. Looking forward to season 3 and hoping that you get a good workflow and rhythm in that won't drain and exhaust you but still produce something you're happy with! As for the thumbnails: I think I get your thoughts about it and to be honest, I'm usually not a fan of the :O-thumbnail-face either. That said, your show consists of two major pillars, and the one besides the games - is you! So from my point of view, it makes sense that you appear in the thumbnails. I think it's fair, too: You're very much in that sweet spot where it's really enjoyable to listen to you talk of something you're excited about without feeling like you're pushing yourself onto the viewer with your personality or an act. That's a pretty good and still kinda unique thing which I like, because I'm really annoyed by "personality cult" (which you're lightyears away from). I think I said that on another video too: Your videos are like visiting a friend who's showing you his old games that he likes and you're like "sweet". Also, the thumbnails (this one and Zelda 2) are enjoyable, not at all in the "BUHH??? WHUT'S DIS????? :OOO"-territory and they get you in the mood for your show! Maybe in the future, you can combine them more with illustrations and the stuff you do in other thumbnails? ANYWAY! I was happy to see my comment featured in the video (and to be reminded of the oddyssey that was figuring out how to give you my e-mail so you could send me those scans lmfao) and if my dang-long ramblings encourage you even a little bit, that's really great. Keep going!!
Was so happy to see Castlevania hit S tier, I think that game has perfect game design. The first half of the game teaches and prepares you for the back half while being fair the whole time. Definitely a little underrated by a lot of people when compared to other games in the series.
I played 8 bit NES a ton as a kid before life hit, and never played any later systems. Your reviews on games are great as they do such a good job of capturing the experience and joy of truly playing them. Make sure you put Ninja Gaiden on your list, you won't regret it.
Gameboy games are something I definitely want to cover on the channel eventually. It's tricky though -- because I would probably have to play the games twice. Once on original hardware, and once on a consolized version or FPGA system to capture footage. But I have been thinking about how to approach them.
@@HPRshredder yeap it will be hard to have nice looking shots like you do of your CRT. And the games don't look the same captured on full screen emulation. But I do believe you can figure it out, the quality of your videos are amazing.
i'm one of those people who found you through the metroid video. i always thought it was lame how basically every review of the game only says "old game bad" and pretty much drops it there, and last year i ended up playing it like four times myself which resulted in me finding your video and really liking it. since then i've gone back and watched all the older ones and even if i don't care about the games being talked about they're still fun to watch. i'm not the type that comments a lot but these videos have honestly come to mean something to me. last year i was in a horrible situation and i remember that, while watching your balloon fight video, i suddenly broke down crying over what was happening. the video actually helped me pull myself together just by giving me something else to think about and that's really stuck with me. i'm only just now finishing season 2 because i honestly haven't wanted to be fully caught up, it's nice to always have these videos to return to when i want. thank you for making them
Thank you. I really appreciate you sharing. I’m glad the videos were able to help! I’ve always found comfort in people talking about stuff. It’s a nice distraction. I’m touched that some of the videos I’ve made have been helpful in that way for you. I’m super flattered. And I appreciate the kind words. I always enjoy when you do decide to comment. Hope all is well! And in case you haven’t seen any of the Season 3 stuff yet, I hope if/when you do get around to it you enjoy it. I seem to remember a comment from you but it might have been a community post. Anyway, you’re listed in the “special thanks” section toward the end of the most recent video. Thanks again for the wonderful comment. It certainly improved my day.
tysm🥲 i'm glad this was nice to hear. i had no idea i was mentioned in one of those, i'll look forward to seeing it. i have commented a couple times, i'm just generally not the type who does so often. i really hope this channel can get bigger for you but in the meantime it's been fun to feel like a part of something and watch as it grows. does youtube pay you yet or do i get to keep my adblock lol
@@marcievania It has been really fun that it finally feels like it's growing. The next two games I'm covering are super obscure, so it'll probably stall for the next 3-4 months, but after that, it's like 14 really heavy hitters in a row. And I think you should watch however you're able to most enjoy them. I'm never concerned about stuff like that lol. I am finally a partner though! Which is super nice.
The universally recognized professor emeritus of retro video game opinions, one Jeremy Parish, has called Castlevania either a “perfect game” or “the most perfect game”, can’t remember quite which. Regardless, you’re not alone in your feelings on hitting vampires with whips.
I can't criticize your rankings particularly, as you really gave each a really earnest play and due consideration. For me, Zelda II may be the very best NES game. The way it's designed and the care in the play control are as good as any game on the console, and it's one of the few NES games that has really grown past where my child eyes saw it. Back then, I didn't like the departure from the original game, but over time, it's gameplay has just outshone so many games.
I definitely love Zelda II. It's one of the videos I put the most time into as well. These rankings are also subject to change over time, and with Zelda II being the most recent game I had played at the time of recording this, it hadn't had as much time to marinate. As I play more games, there will be more adjustments to the list. There's a chance it gets bumped up eventually. But between those top 4 so far it's really close. It's going to be hard for it to pass Zelda 1 for me, but I could see it potentially passing Metroid based on my mood. Metroid I think I like more than most people do. I'm still very early in the library in terms of my list of games to play!
Balloon Fight needs to be a little higher. It has two player simultaneous play. Balloon Trip then becomes a competitive score attack between the two people playing. It has that great easy-to-learn hard to master quality.
It's tough with the black box titles. I could easily see an argument for games like Balloon Fight and Excitebike to be higher; and they may end up that way eventually. The placements aren't set in stone. I agree it's an amazing game. There's not much really wrong with it, conceptually. I find the main mode to get a little tedious, but I really do love Balloon Trip and I still go back to play it. I also enjoyed playing the main mode with two players as opposed to solo.
LOVE that you put Castlevania in S tier. I agree that it is underrated. In many ways C3 kind of does what part 1 does bigger and better but still.. there’s something about the original that just keeps me coming back. It’s as you said just so good at what it does. A simple basic platformer that just outclasses the competition not through innovation but by doing all the little things right. Ranking is silly but fun to argue about. 😂 anyway love the channel!! Looking forward to the next video
Well, I haven't played Castlevania II or III yet. I really look forward to seeing how they stack up. But thanks for the comment and I'm glad you've been enjoying the channel! And I agree, ranking is silly. But fun.

Lots of good content here, and it prompts interaction. I'll try to keep it brief with a few points. • Getting lost talking, briefly losing your focus, rambling a little here and there. To me, these are clear signs of enjoyment and passion, and they trigger sweet memories. Doing good there. • Keep playing RUclips's dirty game. Make use of your own self in the thumbnails; I'd still be thankful if you refrain from using the "reaction/angry/open-mouth shouting" cuckface that is oh-so-fashionable nowadays. You're right, there's only so much one can take of that. Once again, doing good there. • While ranking games, it could be a good idea to keep in mind what kind of circuit board the game uses. SMB is a good example - no advanced mapper chips, nothing besides the plain base the NES can provide, and the game still delivers, with perfect controls and never feeling unfair when it kills you. Or, you can just ignore my rambling. • My only gripe will be when you will run out of NES games to review. I'm just an NES freak at this point. I'd love to see you go on and on. But yeah, feel free to ignore this as well. Wow that didn't end to be that short. Patiently waiting for your take on Faxanadu and the first Megaman. Cheers!
It's going to be a long time before I run out of NES games! My list of NES games to play alone is well over 100. It's actually closer to 140, but I may not be able to make full videos on all of them. And that's a good point about the chips on the carts btw. I may do a ranking based on chips separately from a general ranking eventually. Even though they're on the same system, the games with extra chips that came out later have huge advantages over the earlier titles from a technical standpoint. I do consider that when I'm making the full videos.
This video makes me super excited to see what you've got in store for next season :D Your videos are always a treat to watch. Also, I thought I might recommend a Famicom release to review or play in the future that I only just found out about called Higemaru Makaijima. It's kinda Capcom's answer to first Zelda, but instead you're a sailor that throws barrels and boulders laying around the map at enemies. You conquer different pirate ships to collect keys access the 8 islands in the game via a sailboat on the world map which is a really neat mechanic. It's a pretty fun romp that I'm currently working through right now and so far highly recommend. The soundtrack is phenomenal as well.
Just looked it up and it seems interesting for sure. It's too late for me to add it to the regular list, since the roster extends through September 1987 currently, but I could potentially stream it or just play it casually in the future. But I do really like the pirate concept. I'll definitely give it a try.
i’ve played castlevania and metroid both soooo much. if you told me i could only play one…i’d pick metroid. (haha! you literally just said “if i could only play one” as i was typing this!)
great call with the castlevania S tier. Apart from some aspects of the difficulty it really hasn't aged at all. Feels, looks and sounds incredible today. Excited for you to get to other games in the series as it just keeps getting better, too (not Simon's Quest tho)
@@HPRshredder yeah it gave me such odd feelings. I think I initially rented it from Blockbuster and it was so different from most other games I'd played that it made me feel like it was a totally different paradigm of video game
So excited for the new season and for the future of your channel!! Very sweet of you to shout me out, you can show me your thumbnails and video previews any day 💛
While wondering what games I would include in a series like Retro Odyssey, I decided to spend an hour scanning Wikipedia's list of NES/Famicom games and filtering it into my take of the moment on what my personal choices would be. I've pasted the resulting list below. Note: This is just something I threw together because I find it relaxing to think about video games, not because I have any particular expectation for this channel or any deep personal investment in its direction. Moreover, the list is deeply flawed in that it lacks some well-regarded games that I simply didn't happen to play myself, and especially in that it's almost entirely empty of FDS and Famicom games (despite that one of your most interesting videos to me personally was the Hi no Tori one). Therefore you are very much welcome to ignore it. I've included games for various whimsical reasons: good games, odd games, underrated games, interestingly terrible games, and more. Starred entries are especially important. If I made the list on a different day, its contents would be slightly different. One more note: If you play every interesting NES/Famicom/FDS game for this series, you might die of old age before you ever get to the Master System. And presumably the same will be true of almost every other platform you'll ever cover... Mario Bros. *Duck Hunt Excitebike Ice Climber Battle City *Super Mario Bros. BurgerTime *Bomberman The Legend of Kage Gradius *Dragon Warrior Kung-Fu Heroes Gumshoe *Dragon Warrior II *Kid Icarus *Castlevania Athena *The Legend of Zelda Legacy of the Wizard Fantasy Zone *Metroid The Magic of Scheherezade Life Force *Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! I played the DOS version and it was good, dunno how well this port came out or whether it's even in English Tetris 2 + Bombliss - neither game is all that good I think, but the "puzzle" mode in any Bombliss game is guaranteed fun if you're into that kind of thing Bucky O'Hare Kick Master *Ghoul School *Wizards & Warriors III Recca - Summer Carnival '92 StarTropics II
A lot of the games listed there are on my existing list. I made the list of Famicom/NES games I wanted to play back in 2018 or so. It was roughly 160 games, but over time I've been getting stricter and making more cuts given that the scope of the videos has far exceeded what I originally had planned, which was more of a one-video-a-week type of thing. I do plan to cover more systems, and I'm going to at least make it through this season and the next before I start, though. What may end up happening, is I may end up covering PC Engine, NES, and Master System games in a single season. But to catch up on the MS games I've missed, I may do a gaiden-style season. Before I make those changes though, I need to be sure I can meet my one-per-month quota for the remainder of the year. That will make the list much more manageable. I really hope to make it to the next generation, and even beyond, but I'll probably have to be much more selective with the games I cover at that point. Either that, or change the video format. I also work full time, so that's something else to consider lol. But back to the list, it's been set for a long time. And I've been working off of that. I do take suggestions into account sometimes, though. Ghetsu Fuuma Den for example is one that was recommended early that made the cut for this season since I hadn't already passed the release date.
lol @ the goofy thumbnail face. I don't mind it since I don't have to stare at it throughout the whole video :D I say do what you gotta do if it helps generate views.
Ayo.. this is a good ass channel. I don't know if you need to start using better SEO practices or what but you should have more subs and sheeit than you do (I think so anyway.. it seems the youtube algorithm has AIDS or something). Either way though.. keep up the good work. I do think this channel is destined to grow just completely organically.
Thanks for the kind words in your comments across the channel. I agree that I just need to keep on making them. I've been a little slow getting things started with season 3, but once it does start, I think it's going to be really good for the channel. I'm looking forward to it.
I would say, even if you're reviewing one of the BEEG BEEG name games of old, do what you can to not stifle your brand of humor and whatnot. It being a big-name game means potentially more clicks onto the video, which, in turn, means more people can see who you are. And the last thing you want is for them to see less of who you are, in my opinion anyway. You are the product that you're pushing, and you want newbies to get all of that, probably. If you think having your face blown up for thumbnails is a better way to get views for that brand recognition™, then yeah, man, by all means, but also, if you don't want to do that, then don't. I mean, it's probably a little thing, right? It's not a big deal to make the thumbnails be the way they need to be for that algorithm, and hell, like you said, it's easier on you to do it that way. But you know, never sacrifice what YOU want to do with what RUclips's stupid algorithm wants you to do. I may never be a big-name streamer/RUclipsr dude, and a big part of that is definitely because I'm really shit at advertising myself, but another part will be because I want to play/cover/talk about the things I want to play/cover/talk about, and doing anything else would make me hate doing the stupid shit I do, and it would no longer be worth it. Again, like... it's a silly thumbnail, but with it and anything else, if you feel passionate about doing something else, then do that something else instead. Good vid-jeo as always. It took me a bit to watch it because finding time to sit down and watch anything longer than 30 minutes is somehow getting harder and harder. It's weird to think I might be busy despite only having, like, a roughly 29-30 hour a week job. I'll stop rambling on about my shit. Good content, HPR. Hopefully, something I typed in this was useful lmao.
I hope you never feel any pressure to watch any of my videos. I always appreciate it and look forward to your comments, but I just hope you don’t feel like you have to watch. I know you probably don’t - but you don’t need to apologize if it “took you a while to get to” or anything. Comments feel good whether it’s the day of a post or a year later. With the videos, I definitely do believe I’m staying true to what I want. I’m making what I want to make and I’m just trying to get better at it. For the thumbnails, it’s a stress point mostly because I don’t feel it’s a strong suit of mine. I wanted to paint them all originally, but it proved to be too much time/effort/money. There’s actually a painting for excitebike in the background of that video that was originally going to be the thumbnail. But it is the most mechanical part of youtube for me. It’s hard for me to make something I like looking at that feels like it “goes” with the others. I’ll figure it out eventually I suppose. But I’m glad you enjoyed it! And thanks again for the comment.

that metroid guide was the first video I saw on your channel. It actually really helped me and I never got the best ending until I used your guide. I been watching your other video retrospectives and they're great! I been binging them all
Congratulations on getting the best ending! It feels great. Also, glad you've been enjoying the vids - I appreciate the comment
I found you from your Metroid thumbnail. Then I binged every else of yours earlier today. I'm in!
Welcome aboard! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
Love it! Been watching since the beginning, it’s good to see the channel grow!
I really like your content. Out of all my subbed channels, your videos are the ones I look forward to the most.
I really appreciate that, and I'm glad you're enjoying them. Apologies I didn't see this sooner!
Yeah! The best RUclips game series. ❤
I can't wait to play them! Been super excited to play a lot of these. I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
keep it up dude! love this channel. maybe one of the only channels I'm subscribed to where im actually anticipating your videos
I'm glad the algorithm brought me to your channel. There's so few people these days who try to meet these old games on their level, and I appreciate that so much that combined with you're honestly stellar editing, and the general chill atmosphere really make this channel great.
I'm pretty new to your channel, but have really been loving your content. Keep up the great work, dude!
Thanks, Matt! I hope to see your name more in the future!
Your work was recommeded to me around spring 2023, and I very much enjoy it. It is enjoyable to see someone do an independent analysis of video games from before their time. In addition, your calm demeanor and manner of speech. Combined with minimal vulgarity make it great for listening in the background.
Thank you! I appreciate the positivity.
YES!!!!! your not messing around anymore! Nicely done!
Hope you continue to grow brother
Glad you're enjoying them & thanks for the comment!
Your reviews and retrospectives on these old games are very enlightening. I just discovered these videos today, and they make me want to play these games. Maybe even 'without' a guide. To play them as intended. Metroid and Zelda especially. Never beaten the latter.
Appreciate the kind words! Glad you've been enjoying them. I'm hoping to finish editing the next one by the end of the night.
I would be perfectly content with strictly NES streams, but there are some PS1 games I would like to see too
You've come a long way since I first found your videos which is really cool to see. Here's to season 3
Found this channel a day or two ago and I've already watched and liked almost all of your videos. Good stuff, man. Your format is cool and unique, even if it took a couple of videos to click with me. I hope this comment helps to boost the algorithm for you even if just by 0.001%.
Glad you’ve been enjoying the videos we are only days out from a new one!
LFG , a recap! Next you gotta do Mario Kart 64 lmk when you want me to make a guess appearance
AYOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Just wanted to say your videos are my favorite retro games reviews on RUclips and inspired me to make my own video review of Metroid which I’m working on right now. Also your production value is second to none, better then guys with half a millions of subs, it’s very inspiring!
Best of luck on your review! Thanks for the comment -- I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos.
Got a subscription from me, keep up the great work as long as it's fun for you :)
I would love to know what kind of gear you're using for your set, btw.
@@HPRshredder Awesome, thanks so much man! Looking forward to Retro Odyssey s3
(SORRY THIS IS A LONG ONE AGAIN I can't help it!!! AAH)
Really glad you made this video and not only gave us a good behind-the-scenes kinda look and told us what a trip season 2 was, but that you're also looking back with positive emotions, too!
Oh wow, Retro Odyssey 3 looks like it is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Was so happy to see Castlevania hit S tier, I think that game has perfect game design. The first half of the game teaches and prepares you for the back half while being fair the whole time. Definitely a little underrated by a lot of people when compared to other games in the series.
It is just so good front to back. It's a blast to return to every time.
Man, im fighting the algorithm too, every damn week, with every video, all i can say is that your channel is fucking great.
It’s tough out there. Best of luck though!
I discovered you last week and I really love your content! Can’t wait for season 3
Really glad you've been enjoying the videos! Welcome aboard. Season 3 will be kicking off late this month with a few other announcements as well.
Absolutely adore these videos, thank you so much for making them!! Beyond excited for you to get to Mega Man, those games are the bomb!
This video is my favorite. Made my day! Keep up the great work. 😎👍
I played 8 bit NES a ton as a kid before life hit, and never played any later systems. Your reviews on games are great as they do such a good job of capturing the experience and joy of truly playing them. Make sure you put Ninja Gaiden on your list, you won't regret it.
More streams! yay 🎉🎉🎉
I hope to see Gameboy games on retro odyssey one day.
I'd love this too, Gameboy has sucha rich history similar to the NES big hitters.
Which is super nice.
listening to someone chill talk about obscure games i will never play is always a good time. congrats on becoming a yt partner :)
Glad to see Faxanadu on the list.
Something about Super Mario Bros is special. Playing it is so smooth
Just found your channel and have to say, I'm loving it. Keep up the quality content, man!
Glad you're enjoying it! I'll keep an eye out for you in the comments
But fun.
@@HPRshredderBefore playing Castlevania 2 : Simon's quest , wait for me to make a video on how to properly start the game .
I would really want to show you what to do at the beginning of the game .
@@HPRshredderUsing my strategy will make your first experience of CV 2 (NES/FDS) really cool and give you a better understanding & increase love for the game .
Awesome you're playing a shooter next season!! Have you considered Gun Nac and Guardian Legend as well? Cheers
Both Gun Nac and Guardian Legend are already on my list!
Videos like this are nice to sleep to.
Hey! Google recommended one of your videos a couple weeks back and I followed soon after, I cannot wait for season 3!
I'm glad you're stoked! I am too!
Man, i wish i had your channel earlier. Stupid algorithm just recommending you now. Your videos are amazing.
I'm glad you're enjoying them & glad you found the channel!
great call with the castlevania S tier. Apart from some aspects of the difficulty it really hasn't aged at all. Feels, looks and sounds incredible today. Excited for you to get to other games in the series as it just keeps getting better, too (not Simon's Quest tho)
(i mean id love to see your video on simons quest but its a pretty indefensible game lol)
I'm excited for Simon's Quest still. I know it has a bit of a reputation, but I just want some more Castlevania at this point.
Leaving a comment to help out the ole algorithm
RYGAR! LET'S (BEEP)ING GO!
I'm really excited to play that one. I've heard really good things.
@@HPRshredder yeah it gave me such odd feelings. I think I initially rented it from Blockbuster and it was so different from most other games I'd played that it made me feel like it was a totally different paradigm of video game
I like the thumbnail for Zelda 2, looks nice.
So excited for the new season and for the future of your channel!! Very sweet of you to shout me out, you can show me your thumbnails and video previews any day 💛
Thank you so much, Sakeenster!

Hey man can’t wait for your next video!
Thanks, man! Not too far off! Still have a lot of work to do though.

If you ever make a video about Street Fighter 2010 I think it will be the best video about that game. Even better than Spoony’s.
Street Fighter 2010 is already on the list! It's a 1990 release so it'll be a while before I get to it, but I plan to make a video about it.
LOVE your channel, you seem like a cool bro that knows how to party.
Haven't been in party mode for some time, but I may have to engage to celebrate 5K. Thanks for the comment! Glad you're enjoying the videos!

Ayo.. this is a good ass channel.
