I always ask for ID with the credit card if it isn’t signed. It says it right on the back of the card, not valid unless signed. If you can verify ID then you’re good.
@@Godakuri It's almost impossible to sign back. They say to use black pen but a pen don't like writing on plastic. It's harder to steal credit cards out of mail these days cause they don't send them out willy nilly anymore. If a person is using a stolen card it's usually a family member or someone close to the person and they always get caught. I've seen so many people try it and they get arrested usually same day they try to use it.
Signatures are like lie detector tests. They mean absolutely nothing but many are gullible enough to think they do. You can get a professional who has only been in this field for their entire life and have them try and determine a signature from another or try and see if 2 are copies, and it's basically 50/50 if they will get it right. I could literally guess and have just as much of a chance of being correct as them, same goes for lie detector tests. Just check the ID and see if the name matches if they went to the extent of getting an entire fake ID, in order to make the names on the ID and credit card match, then I can guarantee you, they falsely signed the signature on the back, therefore, the signature itself doesn't even matter. Check the ID. If the names on both the card and the ID match, then just assume it's the right person, or at least somebody who's committing credit card fraud to a level that goes way above your fcking head. Deny service if they're sketchy, or let law enforcement deal with it. I can't even tell you the last time I used one of my cards, and signed with my own name. Sometimes I do Deadpool, sometimes Ryan Reynolds, if it's an electronic signature sometimes I just scribble the entire screen black. No ones check these signatures either. TSA is better security than signatures, and if I'm correct this year was the first year TSA actually stopped a threat. Over 90% of the time they fail. Americans love their security theater though.

Just a fun fact: when you report a credit card stolen, it will IMMEDIATELY send a EFIR (Electronic fraud identifier report) to the bank's (credit unions) to signify to ANY POS (point of sale) system to mark as stolen depending on the age of the device. Now its up to the merchant to IDENTIFY the card as stolen keep it and contact the local authorities asap but MOST carriers I've come across do NOT pay attention 🙄
Not a single POS in my life has ever returned that a card is stolen or that it should be confiscated to me. I’ve used basically every system and definitely every major one.

Three days later the FBI came in with warrants for the Video of the Customer Service Area and the transaction logs.

When I worked register we'd demand ID with every card transaction. Every card transaction. Didn't matter if it was our own mother: show your ID.
Fun fact you can force it on most cards however Visa and Mastercard says Merchants aren't allowed to so if enough people complained either a civil lawsuit or Visa and Mastercard would pull their cards from your store (which is most debit/credit cards)

I always ask for ID with the credit card if it isn’t signed. It says it right on the back of the card, not valid unless signed. If you can verify ID then you’re good.
Nobody signs the back of their card. Not a very good strategy to identity card theft. You should know this
@@Godakuri It's almost impossible to sign back.
I don't know of an I.D that uses a signature anymore.
A signed credit card doesn't verify anything
This is retarded because idk a single person who has ever once signed the back of their card
In most places youre legally required to check ID for credit purchases over $100. Prevents fraud.
You think it's dumb until it happens to you
Literally never had that happen to me

At my job, two women came in with a few ebt cards that were literally coming up "Lost or Stolen" a long with a whole list of credit card numbers. They kept telling me how to do my job and saying that they could type in their credit cards manually, so I called asset protection. They said there was nothing they could do because it's out of their jurisdiction. That was the day I realized that I don't get paid enough to work in service and be a detective. lol
I don't think I've ever been asked for a ID to pay at a retail location.
I've only had to ask for an ID one time, and it was when a guy in very shaggy and dirty clothing came in, grabbed $1000 worth of VISA giftcards ($200 a card), and tried to buy them all. The managers had to get involved, and he just ended up leaving.
