Damian Lewis is a phenomenal actor - have watched his work for decades. No one could have done Bobby Axelrod better than him. And by the way, he never ages.
Don't care what this joker did to whoever this sap Bobby Axelrod is.
yesssssssssssssss!!! i love him!!
@@atrociousconsequences4432 sarcasm intended? Mate try harder u ain't funny.
@@atrociousconsequences4432 stop it dude just stop
billions is an ok show but overrated
Damian Lewis sounds more natural speaking with an American accent than his own natural British one. It's almost weird to hear him use his natural voice.
true
I thought this too, but then I just watched him on Jonathon Ross and he sounds way more natural there. It sounds like he's got a slight American lilt in this video (I'm a Brit). It must be weird when he spends so long among Americans, using an American accent, that he can't figure out how to speak naturally in interviews!
This is because of years of talking with an American accent has messed up his natural voice. Take a look at Chris Hunnam of Sons of Anarchy, his accent almost disappeared after the show and had to have a vocal coach teach him an English accent for King Arthur.
Gary Oldman apparently had the same problem.
jazzbassrob As a former Londoner who has lived in the U.S for nearly 20 yrs,the accent/Language thing can be strange.I still have my London accent(I was born&raised In the E.End,With Irish Parents,my Mum held on2 her strong Kerry accent all her life)but of course it's littered with many American expressions&phrases(I nearly tapped Mom as opposed to Mum)which is elemental because this is where I live..And another point is the time that u come to Live here.Maybe if u come from a more plain speaking part of the UK and ur in ur early Twenties, then ur accent will change overtime.. But back to Damien Lewis who seems a nice Guy and a fantastically Talented Actor,he has to learn to take on and superimpose a personality/character on himself for a specific reason(which in all honesty is a strange way to make a living). An on a different topic,I always wonder if any of these Actors find it hard to shake these alter egos.. ego(Bobby"Axe" Axelrod in his case)
I love his acting in Billions. My goodness, he is excellent!
he was the Best in Band of Brothers.
+WheelmanGames My favorite in Band of Brothers.
Truth. No matter what he'll always be Major Richard Winters to me. BoB has to be HBO's magnum opus.
WheelmanGames ii
have you seen Homeland? I am about to watch Band of Brothers and have already seen Billions. He is an amazing actor and to see him here with a British accent is really strange but funny.
I've seen all 3 of his mainstream performances, and his Brothers character is by far the most likeable, but Bobby Axelrod is a character that many actors would sell their grandmothers for. He's alternately charming and repulsive : unlike Trump and certain other real world billionaires who seem severely lacking in the charm department.
Damian Lewis is such a great actor. Takes so many awkward moments and makes them flow
It's crazy seeing him so jovial after just watching all of Band of Brothers where he was so calm, collected, and reserved.
Strange how millionaires like Colbert can get away with hating the rich.
Yea he said "royalty are nobility who were essentially gangsters who could hit someone over the head harder than someone else and took their land." Not describing billionaires but every government in the history of the world. The he follows that up backstepping his talk by saying "yea yea right..." when Damian said "but we all want the money."
Cannot stand that little weasel Colbert.
Yeah, the dude is worth about $40 million. That is filthy rich.
almonious Or strange how you obviously didn’t watch this video. Lol
They have to pretend just to seem connected with an audience like the whole hating Trump business, I seriously believe 90% of these talk show hosts probably voted for him...
I just love this mentality, hating on somebody isn't going to make to better than them, instead observe how they got it and you might get better as well. Listening to an actor with this mentality is seriously so refreshing.
This is my favorite show in the past few years. It's such a rare site to see two main characters, which both do positive and negative things
Loooove Damian Lewis! Had no idea he was British till watching this 😂😂
He should be the next James Bond.
Right on
I didn't see it before, but absolutely....
Perhaps the villain
Chuck should be running president in series imo
Colbert for Bond let's make it happen.
He is so genuine and humble he’s good athor
Stephen Colbert certainly know how to crash an interview.
man stephen colbert needs to let guests talk more he always cuts them and asks questions
"Pretend we're having an argument" XD my god he sound so different.
I always route for Bobby Axlerod, ALWAYS! Never, not once for the justice department. Bobby rules 💪
I saw him in "Wolf Hall" and was amazed by his performance. A great actor and beautiful human being!
I am waiting and waiting for Wolf Hall to return. Clare Foy and Damien Lewis made it a great series.
Speaking for myself - and I'm English - he's taken on elements of an American accent. It flows well though
(British) English is my second language and he sounds pretty much half American to me. I wonder if one can switch completely over time.
I hear that, it is sounds strange to me :3
You're not wrong. His accent sounds extremely weird to me, however, because of this half-and-half. I think the Transatlantic one is a bit more flow-y, however.
kinkyplunk Think...John Mahoney
He can flit between both. He's had a British public school education. I would say he soon gets his cut glass accent back fairly quick
He does such a good American accent, that you almost think he's faking when he speaks in his natural British accent.
he is the best character I have ever seen and loved
“I think everyone in America works for 1 of 12 billionaires right now"
"We salute the rank, not the man."
I love how the Brit is puzzled why the American is hateful of gaining wealth. He seems to be thinking, "Isn't that what you guys say you were built on?"
the interviewer never even lets him talk wtf
Like Hannity
I know right smh
I agree. That's exactly why I don't watch his show. He won't shut up. He'll ask a question then interrupt the answer. The show should be called: The Steve Colbert Show, starring Steve Colbert, featuring Steve Cobert, Special guest Steve Colbert, with occasional stars coming on to listen to Steve Colbert.
Exactly, so annoying
If you're a jerk than money will magnify that jerkness . If you're nice then money will manifest and magnify the same in your actions. Stephens argument is like poor people can never be jerks or even if they are; it's justified.
Gosh I’m in love with Damian Lewis!! What an excellent actor and man!!! MCE (man crush every day)!!!
Surprisingly, this got deep while also entertaining. Good for a change and really good questions!
This guy makes that show. Top notch actor.
Damian Lewis is a Billionaire and I love his culture acts. God loves you man london let's gooooo.
Damian Lewis has stolen my heart in my recent watch of a period drama entitled Forsyte Saga! It was by accident that I stumbled into the series after finishing up with Downton Abbey, Season 6 via DVD. And I was emotionally charged and touched by his great acting. I never knew about him until I've watched Forsyte. This period drama is #2 in the Masterpiece Theatre's list of best period dramas and I could not agree more. It left a lingering cloud in my head that after I've completed watching this miniseries, I've got a hunger of knowing who this actor is and researched the viewers comments about Forsyte. He was far from being a good character on that series, as Damian said his character was a smug. Granted he was, but I thought he was the most abused by his relatives and the love of his life. He delivered such convincing performance and I sympathized with his character to the end. I thought his character suffered the most, was misunderstood and was blamed for everything under the sun. All because he fell in love so hard. What an amazing performance! No doubt I am a fan!
He was quite funny hosting 'Have I got News For You'-too.
I hate this voice, though!
Well.. if you look at the Forsyte Saga a little closer: his wife is symbolic for love and beauty. He doesn't know how to love and admire, he just wants to own.
See why he buys a painting: would it look good in the hallway? Not: wow, what a beautiful painting!
But I too lllloved the series, have it on dvd and regularly re-watch it.
By the way: the book is quite different...
Thanks Stephen for talking over all the time.
Damian is so handsome. Never seen a handsome red head.
Robert Redford is a redhead and he's damn fine. But he's what's known as a "strawberry blond," while Damian has that Celtic red.
Damian Lewis, Christian Bale, Hugh Laurie--three Brits who played Americans so well people think they're putting on a British accent when they speak in their natural voices.
❤️Thanks for your endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watching from?
What about Idris
Damian Lewis has a very sympathetic face
He is great in Billions for sure. However, my favorite thing of his that I have seen is "Life". Just an EXQUISITE show. Give it a shot!
So underrated! I wish there were more seasons.
I'm watching Billions now and I really like it
It's amazing how Damian Lewis acting like real against with Paul Giamatti on Billions
This is one of the rare interviews where I think Stephen did a poor job. You can tell they lacked a certain rapport / chemistry together, and Stephen kept trying to steer the conversation towards something incredibly simplistic for a sound bite - “billionaires are awful, eat the rich”. I agree with the premise, but I think Damien was trying to have a more nuanced discussion which, frankly, would have been far more interesting.
bro why? like genuinely why do u hold such hatred for a group of people who’s largest attribute is that either they or someone close to them was successful? Are people not able to reap the benefits of what they sow? It seems to me that most of u “eat the rich” people are just jealous and unwilling to put in the work to raise ur financial situation
1:45 when your watching someone tap dance on thin ice with lava shoes lmfao.
Very excited for this series! I have not watched a complete TV series since "LOST".
I love jim..my favorite actor
Wholly shit he's so interesting... Man I could watch him talk for hours. Also, Homeland... :( But man, is he a cool cucumber :p
He loves billionaires. I like him
Omg! His voice! He sounds so fake on Colbert. I believe his Axe voice! LMAO!
Damn I wish i had never seen that interview.. Axe is actually someone else!!! LMAO
this is the first time i'm hearing him in an interview after 4 seasons of homeland and half of that stupid romeo and juliet movie...I CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S BRITISH
His voice and accent remind of me of Hugh Grant...😍 His son on the show Billions looks very much like Damian did as a young boy--love that!
Colbert is asking some stupid questions.
+Michael Quinn Also, Colbert doesn't adjust himself according to his guest. He's always so high energy even when his guests seem uncomfortable. Some people are more extroverted and others are more laid back so he needs to slightly alter his interviews accordingly. Conan for me does it best, when he's interviewing someone like Jennifer Lawrence he fools around with her, but then if he's interviewing someone like John Cleese, he's more calm and collected even when he might joke around.
He always does.
Colbert is a f jerk
Seems so strange listening to his brit accent. Love this guy. Wish Cobert would stop interrupting.
The best actor , i admire him ♥
The fact that Damian is a Liverpool fan makes me love him even more
That's why Damian will never be as good as Idris 😉
He is so charismatic !!
notice how theres pin drop silence when he mentions investing but the second he says por... everyone goes wild!!!!
I honestly had no idea he was British. I've seen him in several shows. I love band of brothers.
Mind blown.
Rick and The Governor too.
I've been watching a lot of "Billions" and now seeing that THIS is his real voice it's very hard getting used to it
Hey Kids, Im old enough to remebr when Colbairt was funny! BARELYYYY
1:50 that is a good point
Great show. Great actor.
He is a good actor
The great thing about watching Colbert is watching and listening to his guests, the bad thing about watching Colbert, is that you have to watch and listen to Colbert.
God i LOVE HIM❤️ a great actor👍🏼👌🏼
What a great interview! Damian seems right on
Damian Lewis can take his Billionaires and stick them straight up his candy ass !!!
1:03 adorable!
100 millions is not 1 billions dude...!
Damian is the best!
❤️Thanks for your endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watching from?
I had no idea Bobby Axelrod had this accent! I only know Damian Lewis from this show unfortunately but since the first episode I've been hooked! I binged season 1 and have been watching season 2 every week. Only 2 episodes left this season =\ but I'm glad it's being renewed for season 3!
Love Billions 👌🏻
I can’t wait for this show to come back
Stephen, I clicked on this to hear Damian Lewis speak. Holy shit.
This is NOT Stephen Colbert talk show
This is only Stephen Colbert talks show
He looks like Bruce Willis.😯
I first saw Damian Lewis in The Forsytes, then as Henry VIII - what a versatile actor!
The big error of Homeland was when the Director did not convinced You to Do Not Step out! You were the Entire Charme...of that film indeed!
Lol when you can't relate to this problem
Great actor! Fantastic TV series Band of Brothers, Homeland, Billions...
Money doesn't change you. If you are nice, you are nice. If you are not nice, you are not nice.
Ohhh ginger and that accent!!! In loved 😍
I find Damien Lewis extremely attractive 😊
He will always be major Winters to me lol
"I think there's a suspicion of rich people in this country that wasn't before... we are a little suspicious of how people make so much money now and how come I cant have any"
Dang that led to a quiet laughter. thats how people really think these days. they are mad they don't have as much money as others do.
+daniel shim Which is pretty ironic, isn't it?
+daniel shim
There's more to it than that. The financial crisis of 2008 was the result of greedy individuals making risky bets using other people's money. What pisses people off is that these individuals GOT AWAY WITH IT while destroying the lives of millions of Americans.
Of course they're mad. They're the ones who actually earned most of the money. But the law-made by and for the rich-says that the bossman can pay his workers a set wage, and no matter how well the company does by the labor of those workers, he doesn't have to increase their pay. He can do whatever he wants with the excess. The law says all the company's money is his, but natural law would say it isn't. People are not paid according to how much they actually contribute to a company's success-they're paid as little as the almighty CEO can convince them to accept. Taxing the rich and giving to the poor is justice.
Dshim 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Greg Benson a company’s success is because of the creative mind behind the business. The workers just get told what to do and do it, like kids. A business that’s big require more workers, it doesn’t mean the workers that started out suddenly became super productive. Even if they did it’s because of machines, not skill.
Love Damian Lewis, love, love, LOVE Billions! But couldn’t even make it through a minute and a half because of Stephen Colbert... sigh! I miss Jay Leno.
Have watched Band of Brothers several times through. Hearing his voice is almost as strange as the first time I heard Andrew Lincoln in an interview after a few seasons of Walking Dead.
Stephen, let him talk! damn it
yeah but he does a damn good NY accents. like queens borough sounding
and i love damian lewis!
Totally different accent than the one in Band of Brothers....Brilliant actor indeed
Damn, man! Let the guess to speak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Him and Hugh Grant must have gone to the boarding school
I reckon he would kill it playing captain James flint
Wow He sounds more good in American accent than in British
Band of Brothers 👍
❤️Thanks for your endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watching from?
I love you Damian Lewis 😘💞
Stephen's halfway to that 100 million, so he wasn't kidding.
He’ll always be Bobby Axelrod with an American accent for me!
colbert let him speak
I suppose he's got so good doing the american accent that it spread to his british accent. He doesn't sound like an Englishman anymore he sounds like a hybrid. He is not too far off from an Australian accent, it wouldn't take much for him to work on an aussie accent and pass as an aussie.
My hero
Holy shit I can’t get over his real accent 😂
Holy shit, I have only ever seen Damian Lewis play American characters. so much so that at first I thought he was playing a brit with that accent, I had no idea he was really from the UK..
Hearing Cpt. Winters/Bobby Axelrod speak with a British accent was a total mind fuck.
