Reader Rabbit 1st Grade - Capers on Cloud 9! (CD-ROM Longplay #4)

- ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
I've gotta be honest, I really don't think this game is as high-quality as other games in the series. That's not to say that this is a bad game, not in the slightest. But I've seen footage of other Reader Rabbit games on RUclips (go check out Lingyan203 and ReaderRabbitFan09) and this doesn't match those earlier games in the quality department. Enjoy, nonetheless.

THAT SANDWICH SHOP. THE MEMORIES. I CAN'T.
The sandwich shop is the only part of this game I distinctly remember as well!
OMGGGG YESSSSSS
YES
@@drawingfandome How could you not remember Queen Cumulus' song!?
OMGGG yessss so many memories from this game, I wanna go back to the times when I've played this game 😭😭
I'm genuinely astonished, this game feels like a hazy dream
same. also felt déjà vu when i saw that Cloud Town scene in Inside Out. took me so long to place the source of nostalgia
Oh my.
Kinda nostalgic for him i was young when I played it
Took the words right out of my mouth
@thanomyloans2585 really you don’t know
lmao I think little me spent 99% of my time in that sandwich shop messin with the coins and making whatever abomination I wanted. So glad I found the name of this game.
Omg same hahhahahaha
Same oh my goshhhhh, my mom had to tell me to move on to the other puzzles because of how obsessed with it I was 🥪🥪🥪🥪
I’m 25. And I still play this game to feed my child inside every now and again and can confirm the sandwich shop is where I spent most of my time as well
Same here
same lol
5 seconds in and a massive wave of nostalgia hits omg
I remember this game too but I grew up on balloon town
YESSSSS
The sounds that gumball machine makes brings me back so much
HAHA YESSS
This was my childhood. Thank you so much.
I’ve just flashed back to my 4 year old self playing this ahhhh the memories I can’t tell you how long it took for me to find this
I was age 6 or 7 when I saw this
@thanomyloans2585 trying to wonder why weather stuff is falling from the sky
I remember after I would enter my name (Emily) Reader would say "Glad you're here, Emily!" 8 year old me was shook.
Gosh that's so cool.. I'm jealous! My name is Valkyrie 🤣😭
Same here. Reader said my name (Zachary) too in this game. I put in "Zach" in the sequel (Mis-cheese-ious Adventures).
The game did the same thing to me with my name and I loved it
Me and my brother got to enjoy that too! It wasn’t a shock to us but one time we tried to make Reader saying something silly but he wouldn’t :(
I’ve been searching for this game lol. I remember playing this game over 15 years ago and couldn’t think of the name. Wow the nostalgia is real
Yeah I know
it feels like watching this unlocked some sort locked away memories
Angel, Mommy, Addy, Maddy and Cannon
That Cloud Queen song, man. I feel like I’ve found a lost memory of my childhood. It warms my heart.
I know right, it sounds so relaxing and beautiful.😍
That song strikes some chord transitions that can tear you up a bit if you know what they are. They chose some good ones.

My childhood
I think I played this game in 4th grade for like a year non-stop. Kinda embarrassing considering it was for 1st graders x'D
Yeah, Such a shame that our generation has outgrown it.
My childhood. I remember playing this game in 1st grade, 2005 - 2006. I think I first played it in 2004 though! This video gives me so much nostalgia.
I still have the game, although I haven't played it in like 13 years. I miss my life in the early - mid 2000s so much!
I have been searching for this game for years!!! I cant believe I found it. I kept googling "old computer game cloud sheep" and stuff and never was able to remember anything more about it. The cloud sheep, animation studio, and the marbles are the only things I could recall before I found this video. Oh my god I was so obsessed with the sandwich shop. All the sounds from this game are seared into my brain, its been probably 15 years since I've seen or heard anything from this game.
I only remember the sandwich and the name cloud 9. Looked it up and found this! I guess we are all in our 20s now!
I didn’t think I’d ever find this I was just thinking about my childhood and looked this up 😂😭
1:30 in the morning. About to fall asleep. Had a weird vague memory of a mini game in a game from my childhood. It was the mini game at 9:30 in this video. Searched for so long. I found it again. I played this game so much as a child. The feels... :)
OMg that was my absolute favourite game. I loved that "frog" was "amphibian" for some reason. I forgot about it until now ;o;
That is exactly what happened to me as well! I was just about to sleep last night, then started thinking of this game many years since last time I did
I been searching this game for nearly 10 months. Im 25 now. The nostalgia is so real. Thank you
The... the books name is paige.. THE BOOKS NAME IS PAGE
And the inventory is Chester
yeah no shit
Wtf, I tried to remember a childhood game but my memory's super hazy. FINALLY after all these years I found it.
Holy crap, I played this game when I was like 6 and it helped me learn English and in school. I also remember another one where it's a bunch of kids on an adventure taking place in a jungle, underwater, and the pyramids... I just can't remember the name for the life of me. Good times.
I just remembered some lizard sort of guy in a sandwhich stop and I finally found it
ive been looking for this for three days.
the only thing i could remember is making the flipbook
thats also only thing I remembered when It pop'd into mind this morning! lol but I also remembered the clouds... I had to google early 2000s PC games and in one of the photos I recognized the reader rabbit a bit.. then I decided to check out a video of kinder and 1st grade and BAM this was it.
I used to play this all the time as a kid. The good ol days of your childhood come back to you real hard.
I know it’s been years since you uploaded, but I need to thank you for this video. I went through some, honestly, horrible things around the time I played this game. I remember this game specifically being one of the only positive experiences of that time in my life, when I was actually in 1st grade. Thank you for finding and uploading this.
I'm sorry for what you went through. You were just a kid... You didn't deserve any of that pain. I really hope you're doing better now. ❤
Holly heck, I remember playing this in Kinder and around 1st grade. I'm in 11th grade now. Wow.
MY CHILDHOOD!!!!! My 6 year old self and my 25 year old self are crying
damn this hit me with a wave of nostalgia
Reader Rabbit: Umbrellas don't just fall from the sky.
[An umbrella and rain clothes proceed to fall onto Reader]
Reader Rabbit: Okay, let's get the ship and go.
1:15 Now that’s a cloud ☁️ tastic title
That ship gave me massive nostalgia ohmygod
I remember the one time the levers got stuck in bubble wrap.....was that from Bounce Down in Balloon Town? ??
holy crap I almost forgot about this game! I played this so much as a kid
I used to play this SO much as a kid, seeing a lot of this unlocked so many memories. The queens song has always stuck with me since I associated her with a teacher for some reason
19:44 I wish apples would cost 7 cents in our time now.
After all these years I can still remember the gum all machine and shop
Same!
this is my most vivid memory of this game, the nostalgia
I thought this was a fever dream from my childhood but glad to know it was real XD I just remembered this by how obsessed I was with making sandwiches and having a difficult time with money. It did help somewhat for me ^^
Can’t believe I found this game again. ❤️
Oh my god, dude! I had this game when I was a kid, and I've long lost the CD. I had vague memories of the Reader Rabbit games, and I'm so glad I get to put a name to those hazy memories of point and click gameplay! You're honestly doing good and important work, archiving all of this.
the flipbook!!!!!! id do that for hours... and now i am studying animation in college 20 yrs later haha
This is legit the only thing I did in the game... for HOURS 😂
I'll be honest: Charles Martinet voicing Irvin the Inventor actually implements some of Mario's voice during recording. I don't know why but both characters sound kind of the same to me.
And I’m friends with Sam the Lion’s voice actor, Terrance McGovern on Facebook! He also voiced Launchpad McQuack in the original DuckTales and Darkwing Duck!
Doesn’t he voice professor Heatherman in the second grade game??
@@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 Yes.
@@zacharys41 that *_oH!_* they all make was a dead giveaway 😂
My childhood game
RIGHTTT
This was the first I saw of the redesigned Reader Rabbit, but not the first of me playing RR games. He was literally my imaginary friend since kindergarten!
2:04 Sam the Lion: And Chestser will you carry the things we pick up along the way?
Woah, Charles Martinet is the Inventor, never knew that
Mario and Luigi
For the life of me as a kid, I could never get the ladder to get that damn hula hoop off that damn rock. Watching it happen here was satisfying. My inner child is at peace now.
I still have this game! Man all the memories younger playing this
Ok im glad i wasnt the only one who played in that sandwich shop for hours
15:54 Wow! Now my stomach really hurts! I found that funny as a kid
Flashback to my 4-5 year old kinder self playing this
2:08 Reader Rabbit: Wow, that’s fluffy.
The nostalgia is real. The singing ball noises had me like it was yesterday 🫠
I remember playing this in the library everytime I visited lol it was so fun but I never made it to the end 😭cause I always had to leave
my memories exactly 😭
Damn. So much nostalgia here. I remember playing the Wii port when i was younger and i still have it.
Ohhhh the nostalgia!! I was a dumb kid so I always gave up on the money part in the sandwich shop 😂🤦🏼♀️
😁 lol, that's great. I love that so many of us remember this game so fondly.
I must've played through this entire game at around 4-7 years old. I was apparently smarter than I give myself credit for, damn
I still play Reader Rabbit 1st Grade - Capers on Cloud 9 and am 22 year old but only when I'm bored. My childhood! LOL
Terry McGovern's Midwestern voice for Sam the Lion reminds me a lot John Ritter's portrayal of Clifford The Big Red Dog. He speaks very proper, probably one of the clearest, most honest voices that I've ever heard.
7:31 Reader and Sam in unison: Unless what?!
I love the "we could have used the ladder" at the (almost) end !
Are you sure you want to tell kids that they've done hours of work for nothing ??? 😂😂
I like the voices in here better then the voices in the uk version.
Literally searched this up just so I can feel 5 again
my freaking childhood. THE NOSTALGIA !!
I deadass thought this was some product of my imagination😂
my childhood memories....I think i must've played this nonstop as a kid because the dialogue seems faintly familiar at times... LOL
Oh my god the memories, I can’t-
I remember feeling like this game was too hard for me back when I played it in ~2003 XD I'm about to graduate with my bachelor's of science this spring. I owe it all to this game
For some reason, all these games scared the hell out of me as a kid.
They're a damn fever dream.
Scare?
16:57 your my first customers I had all year... how did the store survive that long?
Maybe it was January??
Thanks for reminding me of the times when I used to play these games in my childhood 😊😊
I distinctly remember the scene at 6:20 while the cloud town was completely forgettable, I think it's because of the giant gear inside the house like it's all working, that and the robot machine lady at10:20
I just got smacked by nostalgia
The lizard in the sandwich shop is a nice character. He makes humor and joy out of the simplest things. Salami-- do you like that one? Swiss cheese-- mmm. Lettuce-- good choice. Tomato-- heh-heh-heh. There you go!
HER SINGING
3:59 Cal has to see this.
My... my childhood. Oh how it hurts me in my 23 year old heart
1:31:58 Reader: Sam your main looks a little funny 😂. Sam: Oh no. (Laughs) And look 👀 at your goofy smile Reader.
Mane*
Oh my word... I'm pretty sure this is the game I saw a childhood friend of mine play once. Literally once. I happened to remember the cloud 9 part because I always wanted to try to get it! Happened to think of it again and looked it up. Can't believe it looks soo familiar! I saw it once!!
I may be 22 but I really wish I was a kid again 😭😭
Back when I was 5 this was my jam!
my nostalgia just hit so hard, wtf.
Omg I played this so much.
Me too
This gameplay makes me feel like i’m watching a movie.
I learned to read and count thanks to games like this one.
Also, at 5:01, Reader Rabbit and Sam look like the soyjak pointing meme.
OMG THE SINGING MARBLES I FORGOT ABOUT THEM!!!!
22:06 I love cheese (specifically extra sharp cheedar) so much, my mom calls me the big mouse in our family. I wish a 8 oz pound block of cheese would cost 32 cents.
And To think I still use the phrase it’s raining boots and umbrellas to this day
0:46 Come quick! It's raining boots and umbrellas.
Spinosaurus
Tyrannosaurus rex
Velociraptor
Dilophosaurus
Stegosaurus
Wow... the nostalgia is real with this one. I remember this game would always kind of make me feel uneasy, maybe it was the music or something. The only mini games I remember were the moving pictures game and the coin game. I would constantly have to restart because I would always end up getting lost somehow lol. I never actually finished it so it’s weird to see the ending
There was one game (not sure if it was reader) where it had this strange dungeon and there were air blimps... I was so afraid of the blimps and avoided them, and I didn't find out until MUCH LATER in the game that I was SUPPOSED to catch the blimps for extra points
@@laurac9119 That's probably Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade (the old 1990s version)!
I still have the game. This is my childhood.
jum🅱️o ru🅱️🅱️er 🅱️ands
18:50 That would be so gross trying to eat a sock.
This is my favorite Reader Rabbit game.
I FINALLY FOUND IT! I CAN'T BELIEVE I FOUND IT. AFTER 3 HOURS OF SEARCHING KNOWING ONLY THAT IT WAS A GAME THAT HAD A RABBIT. WHAT A NOSTALGIA OMG I CANT
Omgggg I FOUND THE GAMEEEE. Used to play it in the library with my siblings after school, waiting for my mom to come home after work 😩 ahhhh memoriesss although we never heard the audio due to the computer being in the library hahaha
Anyone who played this as a kid is my people
I’m age 24 probably one of my games when I was younger
I wish Sam does not eat so many candies.
He would probably suffer diabetes by the time the adventure’s through.
46:03 and it was at that moment when I remember the game crashes I think it was because of the disc being partially scratched but I'm not sure exactly.
I finally found it. I'm an adult now
0:21 this intro takes me back
I remember this!
I played this for my whole life
