I'm a guy and the skin around my nose always gets really irritated and red and looks horrible, but I've always just kinda shrugged it off. a couple of weeks ago I was messing around with make up for a show I'm doing and even after putting on just foundation I was like "wow I totally get why so many people do this" I looked instantly better. I don't use make up at all except for the show, mostly because I'm lazy but I see how much of a confidence boost it can be
Seannyboy217 there are loads of different face creams that are great for irritated skin, one's called Oilantium and it's a bit pricy but so worth it
Seannyboy217 make up is like a drug. When you start, it gives you a confidence boost, but when you get used to it, you feel insecure without it( around people obv)
military distress i feel this could be true for many people, but for me- makeup has shown me the things i love about my face! (but it is like a drug in that if you get some foundation, you'll want some concealer, etc, etc.)
(Hi Ik I'm late) there are some makeup brands made specially for irritated skin. Also, if you're covering a red spot, put on green concealer under the foundation. It cancels out the red and creates a natural skin tone instead of a just a little less red than before

Karlica this is a really good point, and in retrospect i shouldn't have joked about making this slogan into merch because using mental illness as a fashion statement if you're not mentally ill is definitely not okay & selling it would almost definitely lead to profiting off of neurotypical people doing exactly that which is. Yikes.
my comment definitely wasn't intended that way- i'm mentally ill myself and that's a huge reason why i'm a fan of dodie's, and the shirt i described is something i'd personally wear to make light of my own depression. however, i definitely don't want to trivialize anyone else's mental illness because that of course is not my place and is very disenfranchising and gross. thank you for bringing this up, it wasn't something i considered when i first posted the comment and i definitely should have been more aware of how selling this shirt would commodify mental illness.

Dodie you're amazing
To keep the sides of your nose going "crusty" (I feel you girl, so many acne scars on sides of my nose) but if you use a hydrating oil free face gel (I just use a cheap one from boots) and a good setting spray (and don't hold back around the nose area, like soak it!) I find the make-up lasts way longer around there and doesn't look as shit when it starts to come off! You're so beautiful anyway though, I love your freckles so so so much I'm hella jealous
Also give those areas a little more exfoliation especially right before you put on makeup
Do you mind if I ask which face gel you use from boots? I adore wearing make up, and do most days, but the gradual crusty nose dampens how good I feel with it all on.
I used to get a crusty nose everyday, and really badly, but I started putting on a bit of Dream Cream from lush at night at in the morning and its honestly changed my life! Its the best thing ive found for dry skin, especially if you have psoriasis or eczema
Sarah I literally use the cheapest one I can find but it's the Johnson & Johnson clean & clear gentle hydrating wash (It's for young kids but my 18 y/o acne prone skin is really sensitive so it's perfect for me! If your skin is a bit better you could try find a better one!) that said, this was only around three Euro so it's perfect & your skin feels so soft after!
