lol we had one of those at my school too. Mattheus from Germany. He was on a mission to prove that Germans could actually be funny and charming. I hope he's still out there doin big things somewhere.
He has so many accomplishments not mentioned. - 3 Nippon Pro Baseball Championships, 8x NPB allstar, 2 NPB gold gloves, 1 allstar game MVP - 2 World Baseball Classic Championships
As a fellow "class clown" doesn't surprise me. Lots of class clowns just want to make themselves and other people laugh after going through some tough stuff at home growing up. Would be awesome if he ever wrote a book.
(Japanese person here) I was fortunate to meet Kawasaki when he was doing a small tour in my area! Talked with him and yes, he's exactly the same in Japanese as he is in English! Absolute legend!
One of my all time favorites. I love players that play the game like we all did as kids. Tremendous to keep the love and passion of a child all the way into the professional realm.
I went to a Triple-A game in Scranton in 2014 and Kawasaki was down with Buffalo at the time. You might expect his antics to be a little less entertaining in the Minors, but he was the same guy there. The pregame warmups were hysterical. Some kid wanted an autograph and Kawasaki instead played catch with him for 10 minutes. I’ll never forget it, and neither will that kid.
Spring training of 2016 my friend and I got a portion of the park to chant his name when he came up to bat. We called him hitting a bomb and he did it. One of my favorite baseball memories
I was at that game he hit a home run. It's probably my favourite live sporting event moment I've ever witnessed and I have seen many. It was a friday night and we were on a heater. I think a 9 game win streak at the time. One of the most electric atmospheres I have ever been a part of. Kawa came up to bat with a chance to hit a walk off and the crowd was chanting Kawasaki, it was one of the loudest buildings I have ever been in. Rivalled Raptors playoff games and absolutely dwarfed any NHL game I've been to, playoffs included. I don't think the broadcast did justice to how loud it was in there, place was buzzing. Wherever Munenori is right now, I hope he's doing well. You will still see many #66 jerseys at games in the Skydome til this day.
Before he moved to the US, he was playing in the team based in Fukuoka. People call him "Munerin" in Japan. He was so handsome and funny but also our baseball legend and manager Wang admired his diligence during the training. And of course he was SO SO SO SO popular there!!!! He is super nice and funny but when he speaks in Japanese, he is more cool and smart, too.
So sad no one ever understood HOW GOOD he really was. Put down a perfect bunt....every time! Perfect little bloop singles and all that. Guy was a FANTASTIC player, just not flashy enough for north america i guess
As a cubs fan a couple things come to mind. When he was asked about his goals for the season he said he never seen a ghost and he scare ghosts. Also in spring training they started chanting "ka-wa-saki!" and he hit a home run
I don’t know anything about baseball, but this man is just lovely! He has such a good vibe The only baseball player i know would be babe ruth…just because the card
Great video!! He’s actually a great athlete but his humour was next level. Was and still is one of my favourite Jays and always will be! Miss you Kawa!
I think people underestimate how valuable it can be having a person like this on your team. Dude probably brought up team morale and unmeasurable amount for any team he was a part of and that in and of itself can be just as valuable as having a star player.
Though his famous too much respect and love for Ichiro(fly to the major as following/chasing the star), his toughness worked even more after he left by Ichiro again?
In the at-bat after he hit his home run, the ENTIRE Rogers Centre crowd was chanting his name. I can still hear it today: "KA-WA-SA-KI!!! (CLAP, CLAP, CLAP-CLAP-CLAP) KA-WA-SA-KI!!! (CLAP, CLAP, CLAP-CLAP-CLAP) It's still my favourite moment in Jays history since watching Joe crank the WS-winning homer from section 525 at the Dome.
3 Good News for Muni fans - He is still playing baseball in Tochigi Golden Braves belong to Japan Independent Regue. You may able to talk with him in Tochigi. - He has a RUclips channel. - He sometimes speaks English.
You’re right! By the way I love your content! If you ever want to talk RUclips strategy or of course baseball. Feel free to friend me on discord @ Jason_fam
Why don't we recommend the ball of fame to put Mune Kawasaki for the funniest ball player beloved by fans around the world and made us take hospital with too much strong 🤣 crapped by Mune😅
He seems to have had a hard time with depression during his working years. It seems that he was mentally ill during his MLB career because he pushed himself too hard. I think it is mentally easier for American players who come to Japan because they have interpreters and their teammates and fans do not force them to speak Japanese. Even in daily life, Americans speak to them in English and do not learn their language. When Japanese people go to the U.S., they are forced to speak English, so I think it is very difficult. Japanese and English have the exact opposite grammar except for the subject, and the vocabulary is not similar, so it is very difficult to learn the language. Japan has the advantage of being able to receive a high level of education in their own country because their studies are translated into Japanese. There is no need to studying abroad in the U.S. like people in other countries. That is why I am not good at English.
Below average? He entered MLB past his prime years and had plenty of accomplishment. Not to mention, he was learning English and the culture while in the MLB.
Why don't Americans show the video of Kawasaki's fake steal?(SEA v NYY) A channel called “MLBJapan12” is introducing the video, but looking at the comments section of the video, it seems that only Japanese people know about it. This is very funny too so u should be introduce this scene.
It definitely takes a while to get to a decent level with editing. I'm much better than when I started of course but I know I still have a lot to learn/improve on. My best advice is to find something in a video that you like and then look up on RUclips how to execute it. Adobe is a monthly fee but I'm pretty sure Davinci Resolve has a free feature. Either one works great.
He's that transfer kid in high school that everyone loved

And a World Series ring with the 2016 cubs
One world series ring
You don't want to admit he is a world series champion?
If it weren't for ichiro just being such a legend, i think kawa would be my favorite player from japan. Genuinely an amazing person.
He was! I just wish his time in the MLB was a bit longer.
"I have 2 books" Whenever I am sad I watch his clips. But I heard that he struggled mentally. Man, he was so beloved and deserved happiness
Yes, he was struggling mentally before. Now he is doing better now. He has own RUclips channel in Japanese.
As a fellow "class clown" doesn't surprise me. Lots of class clowns just want to make themselves and other people laugh after going through some tough stuff at home growing up. Would be awesome if he ever wrote a book.

That's awesome!
Lol this is the guy that tried to keep Ichiro's 4000th hit ball by pretending he didn't understand English when the umpire came for it.
Haha that’s the one 😂

He also got a WS ring. Joe Maddon brought him to the Cubs in 2016 to be a good influence in the clubhouse during the playoffs.
That’s awesome. A baseball club is not like any other “team” in team sport.
He also won 3 NPB championships and 2 World Baseball Classics.
Whats WS?
love maddon for this. my favorite manager of all time.

I remember getting a cramp and telling my gf at the time that I need a banana and my reasoning was that “monkeys don’t get cramps” I love this man
One of the most popular Blue Jays ever. Bush party!
He was loved so much in Toronto. And as he stated “I love Blue Jays, I love Toronto thank you, I love Michael Jordan!”

He is sill alive in Japan.
He can occasionally be seen serving as a commentator on broadcasts of MLB games.
Spring training of 2016 my friend and I got a portion of the park to chant his name when he came up to bat. We called him hitting a bomb and he did it. One of my favorite baseball memories
That's an awesome story! I think he hit 3 homers in his whole career in the U.S...
SOmebody at work mentioned him today, I was unfamiliar. What a cool guy.... bulletproof sense of humor !~!!!
He commentates on baseball highlights on the morning news here in Japan. He's just as funny as ever
One of my favorite Jays ever. Happy I was able to meet him one time. What a legend.
I love how obvious the team and city just treasure Kawa. Everyone always seems so genuinely happy to be around him and his positivity.

Hi from Tokyo! Nice comment on Muni❤ He’s doing just fine as a baseball commentator in Japan:) He’s respected and loved very much in Japan as well!
