I have the 10mm, i guess its older then yours but i never had a problem with the extraction device. Guess this was a new fix to a old problem

Why remove the pin from the top then reinstall from the bottom?

What’s wrong with the factory extractor?

Christopher Maples MIM parts have a tendency to break with use and high round counts or stress. Apex doesn't uses MIM parts.

Not enough rounds for it to matter yet, try 10,000. Why fix something that is not broken right?

In the original M&P there were extraction issues early on, and Apex cam up with a Failure Resistant Extractor for the M&P. Later we came up with one for the Gen 3 (also fits Gen 5) Glocks. When the M&P M2.0 came out we had a number of customers ask us for an extractor, so we made one. If you don't feel you need one, then don't get one. If you prefer upgrading with fully machined parts made by Apex, then grab one. It's up to you.
