      @@moeg4892 I've had a 1967 mustang, 2002 mustang gt (new), 2003 cobra (new), my father had a 12 gt500 new that I took straight from the dealership and kept for 6 months new, and then the 17 gt. I can honestly say the scat was my favorite.

      It does sound amazing. I do have a few things that you and others may want to note pertaining to that sound: 1) the one in this video does have a modded exhaust; 2) the Scat Pack actually has (slightly) more displacement than a Hellcat, so that low-down growl is incredible (which is my favorite sound); and 3) the Hellcat also has a supercharger whine, which some people enjoy listening to and some don't.

    Love my 2016 392 Scat Pack. These are great cars for a family guy looking to have fun or just cruise to work. My kids love it, big back seats that fit adults, got it used for $31,500 in 2019 with 100k warranty with 44k miles. Hellcat was $20k more, not needed. Faster than 98% of cars on the road, rides great, Beats stereo is great, 8sp tranny is fast. Love it, a lot!

      faster than 98% cars on the road? that’s a huge stretch. my home boy 5.0 kills these easily and he’s not even boosted as well as a bunch of other high performance cars..not taking away from these but dodge has always struggled with weight . 485hp in a 4000+ pound car isn’t impressive.

  • @noiwonttellyoumyname.4385
    @noiwonttellyoumyname.4385 7 лет назад +6

    Man, big changes in only a couple years... 50k today will get you a 2018 Daytona 392. It's an SRT 392 without the programmable suspension. You get the big Brembos instead of the small ones, a better suspension than the Scat Pack, 20x9.5 wheels, *plus* all the creature comforts.
    Also, even though you can do all the fun stuff with burnouts and tire destruction, you're seriously underrating the car's abilities in the curves. Even with the stock P-Zero Nero all-season tires I've been able to pull over .9g's lateral. It's blisteringly fast in a straight line... but it'll also let you fling it around the corners without too much in the way of complaint.
    Oh, and the gas mileage isn't nearly as bad as you're saying either. I put about a thousand miles on mine this weekend--including some VERY fun high-speed runs through twisty mountain roads--and my average at the end of the trip was still 20.8 mpg.

    • @caladan10175
      @caladan10175 3 года назад

      'Little touchy'. Lol. If I don't start from a red light stop using the lightest throttle touch on the pedal, the car leaves $50 of rubber on the road. And that is running 315's on the rear. With the horsepower and ludicrous torque the Scat's make, I've had to literally train my right foot to chill for any start-from-stop that I don't plan to leave in a cloud of smoke (every daily drive red light).

    It doesn't have active dampening. That is exclusive to SRT. However you can get the Dynamics package on this car which gets you blacked out 6 piston Brembo brakes up front along with the previous year hellcat 20x9.5 wheels and 275 tires instead of 245

  • @triton302
    @triton302 6 лет назад +12

    I love my ScatPack. It's easy to break the stock 245's loose, these definitely need at least 275's and summer rubber to get the most out of handling and grip. Definitely a hot rod for the money compared to the Hellcat, I literally paid less than half of what a Hellcat costs sticker and enjoy driving it every day. To address some concerns... it's naturally aspirated so theoretically the engine should last longer than the 6.2 supercharged motor; the 4 piston brembos are plenty for most people, they stop the car very well; if you take it easy on the highway, with the cylinder deactivation you can easily get 25+ mpg average.

  • @jak3est
    @jak3est 3 года назад +3

    Just test drove one... its a beast. and seeing them in person they seem more aggressive looking than in pics or video. Trying to get the payments a lil lower 550 a month is a lil steep. Its tough because your paying a lot for an engine the car is nothing special so its a weird "worth it but overpriced " feeling as a buyer. I have a modded fiesta st and although i am sure the charger couldn't hang on a backroad, the charger is just more grownup and would take the st to gapplebees on a straight. Kinda worried getting rid of the fist its an incredible great handling car but i need the room(kids) plus the fiesta almost turned too good and give me motion sickness on really tight roads.

There were guys on the forums getting base Scats for well under $40k out the door and nicely equipped for around $40k out the door.

      I have a lot of friends with scatpacks and hellcats that drive the piss out of them and they never have any issues at all.

  • @TheJMan1K

    So let’s say I buy a scat pack. Would upgrading bolt ons allow me to get closer to Hellcat levels???

    • @Vffr1
      @Vffr1 5 лет назад

      No. And it's not needed. 0-60 in 4.2. 1/4 mile in 12.2. What else do you need? IF you NEED more get a Hellcat. You can't use anything more than 500hp on the street. Period. The money you save by not getting a Hellcat you can get another car.

    They are nice cars but I really wish that Dodge would have made this a 2 door coupe like the original Chargers in the late 1960's to early 1970's. However I think I know why they went for the 4 door option. If anyone remembers how the SUV market almost killed off muscle cars in the late 90's to early 2000's. Charger as a 4 door sedan would survive against that kind of market with the consumers who crave performance but still needed something with 4 doors and still wanted muscle.

    What’s the cost on modding one?

    • @JR14Channel
      @JR14Channel  6 лет назад +1

      Well that depends on the type of build that you are looking to do. This wasn't my personal car but, the owner did tell me that he had about 5-7k into the car which included cams, tune, exhaust, headers, tires, etc.

    What is the difference between this and the SRT 392? I thought the Scat pack was a R/T.

    • @Ih8chew
      @Ih8chew 7 лет назад +1

      TABL3SIX SRT has adjustable suspension, leather seats, wider forged wheels, flat bottom SRT branded steering wheel, and bigger brembo brake calipers standard. There’s a few more options that come standard on the SRT but other than the adjustable suspension (which is only available on the SRT) a lot of the options on the SRT can be ordered on the Scat Pack as well.

    You might want to get the weight right.... Scat packs are over 150 pounds lighter than an Hellcat - all off the nose. Drop another 40 pounds at the highest center of gravity by deleting the sun roof - and add 1.5" more head room.

    This is why i'm EXTREMELY picky on buying a used 392 car.. Sounds like you're going to blow the engine! and what a waste to roast off those costly tires. I grew up in the 80's-90's where most of us high horsepower guys couldn't even dream of throwing around 50K on a personal car and then beating the shit out of it.

    Not gonna like a RT..really. I have a RT..Borla catback, KN...fully loaded like that 392. Just as insane. Now, maintenance on them Brembos, mpg will suffer. I'm a 43 year old brother with good credit and could have got what I wanted. You say research please do it.

    • @Ih8chew
      @Ih8chew 7 лет назад +1

      Lion Heart please I test drove two 2017 Chargers back to back, a non 392 RT and then a 392 Scat Pack. The driving dynamics, handling, and acceleration are completely different. A regular RT is a complete and utter different driving experience from a Scat Pack, you’re either in denial, lying, or never drove these two models if you think they’re even in the same league performance wise. Lol at could’ve got what you wanted, it’s a no brainer between these two so I’m not sure why someone who can “get what they wanted” would opt for a 5.7 RT if you want performance.

    • @hmackprotection1
      @hmackprotection1 7 лет назад +1

      Lion Heart, due respect, but you 345 guys have stop with the whole it’s as good, satisfying, just as bad ass, etc..as the 392. I like the 5.7’s, but it’s not in the same league as a 392

    • @F82_
      @F82_ 7 лет назад +1

      Lion Heart the rt isn’t even that fast. The 392 would smoke it, it looks way better too, and is a gas saver if you use eco mode
