Songs like this really make me think about the "right person, wrong time" type relationships, the kind where you meet through a friend, develop this strong bond that lasts through shifting friend groups, different interests, through some really hard, really messed up stuff. I used to skip high school volleyball weights and conditioning camp over the summer with my younger sister just to sit in his living room and play COD zombies. I was never good at it, but I think it was the most peace I ever felt at that point in my life. Sometimes I wonder if he knew how much something small like that saved me. I was in a really dark place with a horrible home life, school and distant family drama. I just needed someone to let me be myself again. And he did. Things progressed to a point we had the talk. I valued our friendship so much it scared me to take the next step....so I didn't. And eventually I moved on, moved away. He got back in a relationship with someone who used to treat him badly (still is to this day). I just hope he's happy. Worst part is those stupid facebook memories that show up every once in a while where we practiced German with one another, said we loved each other. I just never got it until it was too late, ya know? Anyway. Time moves on.
