I just bought a bongo and I'd love to play the reggae bongo like you do. Your playing the bongos is incredible and blows me away! Thanks for the inspiration!
Inspiration is a shared thing, Sir. But I appreciate the very kind comment. Congrats on your new drums! The state park sign reads, "Don't feed the animals or the EGO!" Else, I may begin to believe I can play these things.
I love your videos. I know that it would be a big project, but it would be great if you broke down some of the rhythms you are playing along with tunes. I really want to pick up the parts you added on Pick Up the Pieces, and others. It will take me quite some to do that without a slow breakdown. Anyway, thanks for doing what you do.
I need this sounds Without the background music. For the beat. But judging this alone is beautiful. I just exact same beat of the bongo, Iwant to make music ising the sample.
Bongorilao- what kind of stand do you use for seated playing? The one in this video looks like it puts the bongos at a good height. I love your playing and will be studying your videos!
Hello Andrew. It's an LP bongo stand for sitting players. It's uses an adjustable strap on a camlock tension system to lock down the bongos over the center block. It holds both my Meinl and Pearl bongos, so not just made for LP drums. It has adjustable height and tilts to your playing preference. I used to play using my knees to hold the bongos, but my drums are on the heavy end (especially the fiberglass Pearls), so this stand happily carries the weight for me and saves strain on the legs; plus, I prefer to sit. I still touch my right leg and knee against the hembra which I've noticed helps muffle some of the sustain. When I play my congas in a standard percussion setup, I use a regular Pearl stand at the lowest height because again, I like to sit. I've not been playing the bigger setup because I don't really have much room in the house and the cats like to jump on them. I just store the bongos in bags in between sessions to protect the heads from kitty claws. Anyway, thanks for your interest! It's a great music hobby.
Do you live in USA? I don't have knowledge of other markets, but this set of LP Classic II is going for $160 on-line in the US, is 7-1/4" macho and 8-5/8" hembra, and has "hand-picked" heads. I don't own this particular bongo set, but I once replaced the heads on my Matador bongos with the LP hand-picked heads and they sound great for stock heads. The less expensive you go with bongos will probably be less-quality heads and thus, your sound will suffer which is 90% of the reason for playing. So, I would purchase the set below for myself: www[.]musiciansfriend[.]com/drums-percussion/lp-classic-ii-bongos-with-chrome-hardware
@@BadPenny41 I could not find a site or image. Anyway, if these bongos have stock heads, that is one major difference in sound because my smaller drum (macho) has a REMO synthetic head which does increase the volume and allows for higher pitched tones when pressing the head with your thumb and striking. These are Meinl brand bongos and the stock heads are a little more quality compared to lower end bongos (not saying Singen is a low end drum). I use the stock head on the bigger drum (Hembra) and it gives a warmer tone. I tend to tune my heads lower and stop at the first sweet spot. Another difference in sound is probably the microphone on my Sony camcorder and possibly the echoes in my room. To absorb extra sounds, it's good to have something like an old mattress or pillows in the room. I'm wondering do you play just the drums or do you like to play with recorded music? I assume you are a hobbyist like myself? Some folks actually play in real bands which is another realm altogether. I sound much better when playing to music, similar to singing in the shower! I'm sorry to hear you are not happy with the sound of your drums. This is a common thing because I still am not satisfied with the sound 100%. But for my purposes, it's good enough.
@@bongorilao Thanks for the reply . I`m a real novice , never beat a drum before today . I think the real trouble is my drums very very cheap from Ebay . I just bought them for fun , I`ll keep at it until I can strum a tune . Good luck & thanks once again for your reply x
