Hey Connor! Glad to see you’re back out riding again. Great review of the Sentinel! This is one of the bikes I’m considering getting. Question for you, do you think the V2 Sentinel is worth getting or should I get the new one?
V2 Sentinel owner, the V2 is great at all the things mentioned. If you like slightly shorter stays and slacker HA you might prefer the V2. Consider a V2+Cascade link if you want added progression + travel. I set mine up with a 170 fork + Cascade link and it's moved right into the enduro/park category while still pedalable anywhere. Some V2 owners also run a -1 angleset to bring in the front wheel a tad for better handling in the tighter sections.
@@thermonuculur Thanks for your input! I will keep that in mind for sure. I know some bike shops still have some V2’s hanging around for a good price. Definitely thinking about it!
If I could only own one bike, the bike with a 160mm fork and a 64-65* HTA would be what I would choose. I ride a 150/160mm travel Stumpy Evo that weighs 31.5 pounds and that bike is right in the Goldie Locks zone. Quite capable on the rough, fast, and steep while still being fun on flat smooth easy flow trails.
Great review Conner, as an owner of a full custom V2, there's enough aftermarket components to meet the updates found on the V3 except for the MX option and the loam pool design of the V2. In frame storage isn't a deal breaker for me but I really wish TR gave us an option to run external rear brake lines. That said, the ability to run a longer stroke shock puts this at the top of my next bike list, but also never parting with my V2, it is that good.

Good to see you are back riding!! Great review! Sounds like a very interesting bike, always felt the previous Sentinel was a too much of a bruiser for my taste, it sounds like this one would suit me better, specially as an MX 😉
Damn! It really seems like Transition and Ibis have hit the sweet spot. I can't see how most people wouldn't be super happy with the Sentinel or the Ripmo in almost every application of mtbing. I fall right into this category. I don't want a true trail bike because I often ride park and gnarly trails, and i don't want an enduro plower that can't pedal either, i need something that can be happy and capable in a lot of different terrain since i ride CO. I currently ride a Banshee Titan in a light set up and it is great, but I'm a year from a new bike and these two seem like the best options. I'd probably go with the Sentinel since i do like long chain stays coming off the Titan.
@@bikersedge Any idea when that will be coming? I'm leaning towards a Ripmo V3 but need to hear what you have to say head to head on these bikes first 😄
Thanks for this video! As someone who is from Europe, Transition bikes were always definition of mountainbikes, like THE mountainbike! Unfortunately here in Eastern Europe they are extremely rare and expensive. One day...
Fantastic review, exactly what I wanted to know about the bike and some great shots while listenening! Just a note, not sure if your audio or my earbuds but there was a bit of a hum while you were speaking. Didn't take away from a great review though!
Awesome review! How do you think it would do as an enduro race bike? Longer stroke shock and heavier tires and would it punch close to a bike like the Megatower, SB160 etc? Thanks!
I think if you’re specifically wanting it for enduro racing you have better options with actual enduro bikes. 10mm of rear travel isn’t going to change the kinematics. So it’s already going to be outgunned compared to proper enduro bikes. If you want an all mountain bike for daily use and want to occasionally race an enduro it could work.
I just picked up the new Stumpy 15 and this bike seems like it targets the same customer base. Slightly steeper headtube angle, combined with a longer chain stay makes these bikes very balanced and helps riders get comfortable on the bike very fast
Great review! Did they end up putting a bigger front sprocket on the v3? I’ve got the v2 and very occasionally wish it had a slightly bigger one on the front. Is Very tempting to upgrade to the v3 when it comes on sale
Comparing to the Ripmo V3, would the Sentinel V3 be a better choice for the larger rider to get the ride reviewers say the Ripmo offers? I worry being a bigger guy the "plusher, softer, poppier" bikes are too soft under me.
I don't think they should be too soft. 25-30% sag is 25-30% sag, no matter how much air you have to put in there to get that. Once you're at the correct sag the suspension should behave the same for a rider who weighs 150 or 250.
I'm that "weirdo" who runs front brake on the right side. Reason is simple. Motorcycles have front brake on the right side. I don't want to mess with my muscle memory.

What do you think ? Thanks!
Hey thanks! It mostly comes from the head tube and suspension feel. The suspension is far more well rounded than before but you do feel more of the trail than you used to.
