I flew a number of times with BA from Heathrow to Johannesburg in upstairs Business Class. Long before sleeper seats you just got a decent seat in a cabin which felt like many narrow body planes with your own small cabin crew. The side lockers were handy as well as giving more arm room. Sometimes the seats were converted for Economy with the leg rests disabled, but passengers figured out how to release them. It was even sometimes possible to visit the flight deck, which I managed on a similar Virgin plane.
The airplane is iconic, and I love the upper deck for the space that it offers. But Lufthansa has a tired layout (oftentimes broken) and the way they do the service in the middle of the cabin makes me feel I'm in a kitchen. It'd be useful to include some comments about the quality of the food. Pictures only tell half (or even less of) the story. I do agree that Lufthansa food pretty much always LOOKS bad.
Frankfurt airport is always so calm and it’s just a pure joy transiting via FRA. Even though, it isn’t the best for luggage handling (they always somehow lose it)…
Lufthansa is our preferred airline....flew with them last week & will again this week. While we enjoy Lufthansa, this business class configuration really is in need of an update. After connecting in Frankfurt, I flew to the USA on a United aircraft (Star Alliance) & their business class was much nicer using a 1-2-1 configuration with more privacy. Still, we're happy to fly with Lufthansa.

I last travelled Lufthansa in 2002. The service was curt and abrupt, the food was abysmal and my IFE did not work. But they were punctual! My next flight was on Croatian Airlines and that was very chill-axed and comfy. I decided I'd never fly a 'cheaper' airline again and have stuck with SIA ever since.
I have always rated Lufthansa highly. I flew to Frankfurt with them last year and was surprised to see several 747's sitting on the tarmac as we taxied towards the gate. I have always maintained that you should have direct aisle access if you are paying the premium for a business class seat. The window bins were much larger than those on a 380 and looked like they would inhibit your view somewhat. Also, the IFE looked fairly unresponsive and the food did not look appealing to me at all. Overall, slightly disappointing, but a good review. Finally I see that your onward flight was on an Embraer 135. I used to regularly fly on on an Embraer when I used to commute from Glasgow to Bristol many years ago with exactly the same seat layout of 2/1. Happy memories.
Airlink looked better than Lufthansa business class. Seriously: Lufthansa’s breakfast looked like a doctored-up Economy class meal, while Airlink’s light lunch option looked much more appetizing.
If I am right, expert posted Lufthansa Business Class with 2-2 configuration (unsure also Boeing 747). It is nice to have storage beside the seat, but it looks not pretty nice to sleep, the foot space looks narrow. Somehow more curious for Embraer 135 plane, I am surprise the flight served food and I like it. Thank you expert.
Always enjoy watching a vid involving the mighty 747. The Queen of the Skies in Lufty colours is THE most beautiful/stunning bird in the sky in 2024...IMO. That said...that is not a great business class seat, IMO. The window seat, in particular, would seem to me to be rather inconvenient/impractical. I mean, how would you convert the seat into a bed without inconveniencing the person sitting beside you? And what happens if you REALLY have to go to the lavatory and your neighbour is sleeping? Do you just launch yourself over them (lol) or...?
I flew Lufthansa Business Class several times over the past years and it has been problematic every single time. For instance, WiFi in business is not free... One time my remote was not working so I had to get up to reach the touchscreen every single time I wanted to change content or adjust volume... I asked if they could at least offer me a voucher for free WiFi for that flight to make up for this inconvenience and they said no... Definitely not worth the price and the service was way below my expectations. Save your money and avoid Lufthansa Business...
Thank you for another great video. Have to say when flying solo, greatly dislike the 2-2 seating in Business. Time for LH to change that, at a minimum on long haul flights. (At least not as bad as Turkish 2-3-2)...
Love your videos they are amazing. Your insta reel made me want to watch this so bad love Lufthansa, but this flight did not seem business class quality the food did not look appealing and the seats look uncomfortable and intimidating if you are travelling alone and are right next to your seat mate. Which isn’t always what you expect in business. I hope you enjoy your safari, can’t wait to see hotel recommendations as I’m looking to go next year in November.

Yes, the bigger the better is comfort, the A380 is in its own league, you even don’t really experience turbulences which you would feel in the 747. The high weight of the A380 dampens all movements much more than the 747 or smaller planes. That is why traveling in the A380 is superior to all other planes. And the A380 is super quiet, whereas the 747vis very noisy.
I just flew from Boston to Munich and business class. The food was like economy class on China. It was so disappointing. The service was horrendous. I always thought it was terrible even back in the 80s flying first class from New York to Munich. The food was mediocre. the service was nasty and mean.
