Pitch and putt is such a great/cheap way to get out. I hate golf culture but I like being able to smack balls around in a nice setting lol. Great video pal. ❤️
Wishing sweet Jasper a very happy birthday. Thanks for sharing couple of days in beautiful Vancouver. I love watching Jasper playing with you two and running around with the other dogs.
My boyfriend and I live in Toronto and live a very similar lifestyle. We honestly rarely comment on how expensive anything is. I think when you're an outsider it seems a lot more expensive than it actually is. We're also a duel income couple that splits all our costs though so that definitely helps! Even Whole Foods isn't that bad. You just have to avoid certain sections. No one needs $12 organic milk. You can get the same thing at Costco for $3.99 😅
@@kenneythekoala I'm a sucker for fair skin, I can't take anyone with a tan seriously and UV radiation is the #1 cause for aging signs. That seems pretty damaging to me even if avoiding sunburns and skin cancer.
@@kenneythekoala That's entirely different as people of colour are often naturally darker. A similar colour tone that looks fine on them could look ridiculous in a white person.
0:30 and Jordan in the background has a lightsaber. It’s nice to see you guys enjoying your alcohol unashamedly, too many RUclips vloggers feel the need to apologise or play down drinking. Enjoy a glass!
Happy Birthday Jasper!!! Great video as always, was just wondering how you guys deal with the emotional side of money i.e one person earning more and wanting a certain lifestyle and splitting costs etc. Your videos always make me want to move to Vancouver.
Happy birthday Jasper!!! It's my birthday today 💖💖💖💖 loved how you celebrated his birthday 🥺 I had quote a special one too, I spent the day in an amusement park 😊
Love your videos. I moved to Vancouver 3 years ago. It’s hard to believe that time flew by so quickly. Everything in your videos are so familiar and relaxing. I enjoy watching them a lot.
Wishing sweet Jasper a very happy birthday. I love watching him play with you guys and the other dogs. Thanks for sharing a couple of beautiful days in VCR. I always shop the specials at our local Safeway/Pavilions. Do you have a SPROUTS which I consider a hybrid of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's? SPROUTS is definitely cheaper.
When i'm in Vancouver i eat differently than in Québec because there are products that are just not available there. I like Choices Market which is somehow like Whole Foods but maybe more affordable for some things. The best prices for produce is at Kin's Market on Denman. I get stuff to make salads for days plus some fruit usually for less than 10$, and i'm always amazed i got all that stuff for so cheap.
Jasper had an great birthday. We're also a millennial dual income couple in Auckland, NZ. We also like eating out and buying coffee, with a few other moderately priced hobbies here and there. Our spending is pretty much the same! Auckland is expensive even though NZ is such a small country.
The food looks yummy. Yeah my experience doing dates with my boyfriend in the Vancouver metro area is that things are very expensive. Parking is eye-popingly expensive (thank God my card does not charge an exchange rate fee) then again I hate paying 75 cents a hour for parking downtown locally when it's free everywhere else. There is a reason when we get to the marragie point we've already talked about him moving south of the boarder with me. That and I make more.
Holy shit thats expensive for breakfast! My husband and I go and regularly have something similar for about $20-$25USD. Also located in Houston Tx which might have something to do with it.
Excellent video! Love seeing around Vancouver. A very Happy Birthday to Jasper! Any good stories associated with Ryan's tattoos? And do you have any Joe?
Totally with you about spending extra on food but not eating outside all the time. Wine definitely research and go up market. Double income is a big winner. I don’t know how any single person can manage a big city. We both tried it for too many years. Together is much better and wealthier. I think that’s how to enjoy a fine big city anywhere in the world.
I live in LA. Just looked it up: it's 22% more expensive than Vancouver. Thing is: It used to be a cheap place if you could nail down your housing--and transport--costs. Since it's a major distribution and manufacture center, commodities and goods can be had at steep discounts. I bought several pairs of shoes from the Swiss manufacturer Bally for $50 in Beverly Hills...because I knew when to catch a sale. Cheap ethnic restaurants are the bomb and so affordable. But during the pandemic, all our prices are out of control. Now that menus are all digital, prices can be tweeked with the stroke of a key without consideration of printing costs. So my bowl of Vietnamese pho has doubled in price. The cheap-o dim sum joint that used to cost 40 bucks is now 100 dollars.
Great lovely vlog Joe and happy birthday Jasper and nice haircut Ryan .did I hear you say spend money frugally ?? Well done..very interesting to hear the prices of everything ..parking very cheap ..thank you Joe.. lol xxxx
I wonder if you did a comparison between Vancouver and Toronto how similar/different the prices would be. Have you noticed prices have gone up since the pandemic?
I recently started watching you guys and did not know you were in BC! "No Frills" in PoCo is where I shop. Save some bucks there! Greetings from PoCo to you guys in downtown Van!
I hear you, it's a lot of work making sure not to spend too carelessly when you live somewhere expensive. My state is the most expensive state in America, and my city is either 1st or 2nd most expensive, usually flip flopping with Manhattan in New York. Last month our MEDIAN home price crossed $1 MILLION...that's for an average house. California and New York trail us at $758,000 and $710,000, respectively. Our groceries are pretty crazy too, since most of our food has to get shipped here. But it's the price I don't mind paying for warm weather all year, like 26C (80F) Christmases, year-round hiking, fishing, crabbing, camping, etc. We're also the most diverse state in the US, and one of the most diverse places in the world. Why does that matter? 'Cause with diversity comes acceptance, as we have extremely low occurrences of racism and homophobia, after all, 24.2% of our population is mixed race. Mixed race couples like yours are so normal here, and people couldn't care less that you guys are gay. So yes, it's expensive here, but the peace of mind knowing that people aren't going to hurl rac!ist or homophob!c slurs and that I can walk around the city at any hour of the day and i'll be okay, those things are priceless IMO. 😀 Anyway, lotsa love and aloha from Honolulu! 😀🤙❤🌈☀ (Hawai'i symbols)
The hardest thing for me to grasp is that other countries money looks different. No matter how much I know I always get so confused when I see a unique looking bill 😂
Especially for Canadians. Because they sound just like us with practically zero accent yet theyre showing off crazy different looking bills lol. Really throws me off
I live in NZ, in the capital city Wellington. And if I go to a local cafe for 2 Eggs Bennies + 2 black coffee + 1 Oat Cortada it would be more than $50 for sure 🧡 Maybe I can afford living in Vancouver then 😂🥰
My budget in Vancouver (on a vacation) is 50$ a day for food and other stuff. It's definitely doable when you've been here before and know good places. I have a ton of Vancouver vlogs on my channel too if anyone wants to check it out and get ideas of places where to eat great food, for not too much money. Vancouver is my 2nd hometown. I don't live here full-time because i'm a WEST END GIRL and YEAH.... you guys know how much the rents are there. But i wouldn't see the point in living in the suburbs. I gotta be within walking distance of English Bay. I also enjoy my hometown of Québec City, especially in the winter when Vancouver is gray and a bit depressing. Yes, i love local businesses. Places like the Coo Coo cafe in Yaletown, run by a nice couple, or the Red Umbrella Cafe where they bake their own bread, or Legendary Noodle run by a family among my favourites :)
What's crazy is the price of groceries comparable to the Philippines (in some of the stores) and our daily minimum wage is not even hourly wage in Canada :((((((
Just out of interest, are there no small independent grocery stores and farmer's markets in Canada? I live in London (admittedly my area, Primrose Hill, is an independent paradise) and do almost all my grocery shopping at independent shops - fruit from a really cute local fruit and flower shop that has amazing peaches; vegetables and seasonal fruits from the Saturday market; pasta, beans, passata, etc. from the Italian store; most other things from the corner shop (which can sometimes beat Waitrose and Sainsbury's on prices); tofu/mushrooms/kimchi from the Thai shop in Camden. Just writing this out mad me realise that I really spend too much time on food shopping lmao. Also, Wholefoods in the UK is definitely cheaper... shook by the prices
thank god i looked up the conversion rate and saw that Candadian is like .79 usd. Cuz those prices were CRAZY, but then not sooooo bad if u do the conversion. But still pretty bad.

Yeah, it's gorgeous.😻 I always hope Ryan doesn't get too much sun so his beautiful fair skin doesn't get tanned and damaged…
