As a teenager, I somehow got an address for Michael Boddicker the composer, and wrote to him, asking if a sound track record would ever be released for the film… He wrote back to me a hand written letter, thanking me for my interest, and mentioned some thing about him being unsure if an album could ever be released. But he certainly wanted one. I was really taken aback that this composer wrote to me, a teenage nerd from Queens New York, but it’s just another one of those things that solidifies my love for buckaroo banzai!
There is an unofficial bootleg soundtrack. I got a copy at a science fiction convention many years ago. Strangely enough, it was all of the Michael Boddicker music along with the soundtrack to Saturn 3, bit the audio quality is excellent. I only ever listen to the BB music, and it's fantastic when I need something upbeat or inspirational. I think there's a rip of it on RUclips. EDIT: I just checked, and the only soundtrack I see sounds like it was ripped from the movie rather than being a clean soundtrack. I wonder if I can upload my copy without getting into trouble?
I have Buckaroo Banzi in my video collection as one of the greatest underrated movies ever made. Fun, entertaining, an escape from reality. I felt good after watching this movie. Still do even today.
Epic score to an epic film! Since I was deployed during its initial release, first time I saw the film was at the NUART theater in Los Angeles. PS - End credits were shot at the Sepulveda Dam outflow structure where the 405 and 101 freeways converge. Massive piece of concrete!
I saw this movie three times on its original release. I owned the Marvel Comics tie-in (still have it, too). I owned the theatrical one-sheet (still got that, too). Needless to say I was obsessed. I eagerly waited for the sequel and a soundtrack. Unfortunately neither came, but I still have this totally outrageous, hilarious, exciting, and absolutely WONDERFUL and weird little movie which is the greatest gift of all.
So so far ahead of it’s time! Watching it as a kid and then as an adult I almost find something new and unique each viewing Sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crowdfunding??????!!!!
He says Buckaroo Banzai flopped because of the lack of marketing. I can agree with him because I was 17 when this movie came out and I didn't hear anything about it. I didn't see the movie until a year later when my older sister showed it to me on VHS. I then told my friends about Buckaroo Banzai and none of them knew what I was talking about. So yeah Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and 20th Century Studios did nothing to promote Buckaroo Banzai.
If I win the $1.5 bn Powerball jackpot, I'm making a sequel. :) Also: I can't believe the guy who played the President in BB was the same actor who was the evil Nazi interrogator in Raiders of the Lost Ark who got the medallion burned into his hand and was melted at the end of the movie.
Buckaroo Banzai flopped because of the lack of marketing. Here we all are in 2024 still watching and whistling the tune from the end credits. “No matter where you go… there you are.”
Wow, Michael Boddicker ftw! My kids think I've absolutely lost my mind but the soundtrack to this show is my favorite hands down. While the movie might deal with the 8th dimension, the music is proof to me that the 4th dimension is permeable since the music instantly transports me back in time to when my dad introduced us to this movie!
Who's idea was it to have the scene play out where a rockstar calls out a depressed woman in the audience who doesn't want to be seen, calls a spotlight to be placed on her, sings a sad song about nobody caring, and presses her to try to commit suicide....
@CSM100MK2 ... "Don't be dumb.?" You have your opinion, I have mine. The first time I watched this movie, I hated it. The second time, about a year later, I actually enjoyed it. I have thought about this movie, and quotes throughout it, more than probably any other movie I have seen. It's probably not my favorite movie, but it's easily in the top ten.
I generally am against reboots these days because theyre done to death and so pandering. Howrver, this movie, because it wasn't well-knownthen and now, and that ut talks in scyfi themes rhat are popular now, it owuld play very well. It would be hard to get someone who can perform at Lithogow's level, but it woild be fun to see them try.
Take the crappiet asylum b movie out there, and then redo the music by a pro, recast the actor and actresses with the best out there, rehire the cinematographers and you got the best b movie ever made

A movie ahead of it's time.
This was a very adventurous movie and ahead of its time.
question are you over 50

My All Time Favorite Movie

Somebody needs to release a deluxe soundtrack! 40 years and nothing.
One of the best movies ever.
it's really not, don't be dumb, it's great for being weird but it's not a BEST movie ever

W D RICHTER.a true original he also wrote another original movie Slither with James caan which unfortunately has now been long forgotten.
Auditory brilliance.
My phone carrier uses the main theme as their hold music.
love the music
Is this a newer DVD release? I have the DVD that's been out inthe early 2000s. I need to get this.
And rerelease the soundtrack. Money 💰🤑 Maker
I think this came for the Shout! Factory Blu-Ray release. It is a very nice edition.
Love it when the YT algorithm has me figured out so well.
I'm getting cranky elderly Jerry Lewis interviews though. I looked at one once.
You know, they could still pull off “World Crime League”. Just saying.
I thought that they did it as a graphic novel, eventually.
this is why you never were invited to parties or considered the charming one
@@EgilhelmsonYup! Ernie Cline (Ready Player One) also wrote a script for it that's not related to the graphic novel but it's quite good.
Get Edgar Wright to direct.

Never was a 'B', not even on that scale, it was a hole other dimension.
