    She's so cute. And DR Paul really makes doctors visits fun. Finding a doctor that can make something that is sometimes anxiety educing, unfun, long, boring, and so on, FUN is incredible. He's a doctor that also knows how to WORK with people. Understand people. And that is something I wish more doctors understood how to do.

    I had a tympanomastoidectomy (sp) in 1977. My chronic ear infections had eaten away 2 1/2 of my ear bones and was to the lining of my brain. If they had tubes when I was a child I would have had hearing in my left ear! My doctor was wonderful and always told me how sorry he was that he couldn't help my hearing but he saved my life!! That's totally believable. It's in there for medical reasons. When I was loosing my teeth, I took one and was saving it to put under my pillow. I was watching television I believe and for whatever reason stuck it in my ear and couldn't get it out. I had a sister that had developmental disabilities and acted out often and kept my mom occupied most of the time. I didn't want to get in trouble and didn't say anything. I eventually took a hearing in school and was deficient in that ear. A doctor checked it out and said that there was a restriction in the ear canal and began probing and taking samples with a loop tool. I actually forgot that the tooth was in my ear until he scraped the tooth with the tool and asked me if I there was something in my ear. I told him that I thought that there might be a tooth in it and he slowly dug it out. It went over huge and they were telling everyone in the place and everyone in the family. When they asked me why I never said anything I told them that I thought that I would get in trouble. Needless to say my hearing got immediately better!

      The ear infection part for me was also true because I had tubes. The tube was stuck in my ear (it was still there when I was 12) so I had to get surgery and have it removed. All I know is my ear hurt like hell after the surgery cause y’know, they dug around in your ear, but at least I can actually go underwater.

    Help? I’m 14 now, But when I was very young I had severe ear infections constantly, so tubes were placed in both of my ears and one fell out naturally like it was supposed to. The other did not, so I had a surgery behind my ear to remove it. The hole in that ear was from the tube never closed. This is rare but now I still get water inside only that ear and infections in only that ear. Anything anyone knows to help?

    • @laurawebb4320
      @laurawebb4320 3 года назад +2

      I had a hole in my eardrum that never closed on its own. Done know how it got there. Found it during hearing tests to start first grade. I never had tubes put in. Doc tried 3 times to graph it (1st, 3rd and 6th grade). It didn’t hold. Said to monitor it and try after I got older. I had to wear a bathing cap at the pool until I got my first fitted ear plug made in the early 80’s. Being 13 and wearing a bathing cap at the pool is not cool 🤦‍♀️. Because of the hole in my eardrum I never felt pressure. I ended up with a sever infection that basically ate away the ossicle bones (anvil, stirrup and hammer) and also got in the mastoid bone. So it took 2 surgeries to correct. In 12th grade I had the first surgery, a mastoidectomy and ossicular reconstruction. Once that healed I had tympanic reconstruction. My eardrum was almost complexity gone. My hearing in that ear isn’t normal but I’m just thankful I didn’t lose it all. I guess my point here is too always stay vigilant in keeping the ears dry and infection free. Do not hesitate to go to the doc if anything feels not right....or even go for yearly exams to monitor issues even if they aren’t active issues.

    • @ariadne0w1

      I second the suggestion of earplugs, but if you do get water in your ear, try rubbing alcohol. It breaks the surface tension of the water so it comes our. Tilt your head so that it will go in your ear instead of onto the floor, then put a few drops in. Wait until you feel it go in and can essentially feel the difference as it breaks the surface tension, then tilt your ear to the floor and should feel the (warm, body-temperature) water come out.

    That girl was so awesome too, let the doctor do his job, my son hates it when doctors examine his ears, he also had a lot of infections when he was a toddler and had the surgery to get tubes when he was just 2 years old. Now at the age of 10, he still doesn't like at all when I'm trying to clean his ears, he has a lot of this hard wax there so we need to put some oil there to try and make it softer and come out, one time he also had them cleaned by the doctor with this suction thing, I don't really know what's it called in English.

    You are not supposed to put peroxide in your ears it bubbles up and can cause blistering!

    • @mygirldarby
      @mygirldarby 3 года назад +1

      Ear doctors always tell their patients to clean their ears with peroxide. What are you talking about? Lol, peroxide doesn't cause "blistering."

    I had ear infection every winter as a kid and they are miserable. Had a Dr. who would give me a penecillin shot once a week until it was gone. I got so used to the drug that is didn't work as well as it should. Man I hated that Dr. My mom found a pediatrician who trace my ear trouble to allergies. That sorta helped, but it wasn't until I went into the USAF and gave up all sugar and candy crap that I was finally relieved of those torturous ear infections. Sugar is poisen to some people.

    First time seeing a Doctor Paul video. Ironically, I was thinking is this guy trying to lose his job? I mean at least twice in the video he mocked himself for breaking protocol. I really enjoyed the video, but in the end I assumed the mother signed a contract...

    Was at a friends house. His 3-4yr(??) old son kept pulling at his ear, & fidgeting saying "Buccaneer"," Buccaneer". His complaining became incessant. But couldn't see anything. They took him to ER. He had a Bug in his ear. "Bug in ear"

    Obviously the click-bait title was very successful with 8M views. There was absolutely nothing unexpected about what was in that ear. The tube, plus a bit of blood, plus wax.

    • @kathleenferber6598
      @kathleenferber6598 3 года назад

      Exactly. I figured he was goiung to remove the tube and then find something. Then he cleaned the ear out with peroxide, what will he find? We all wasted 6 minutes on this 7 minute video. And the Mother didn't mind beinng filmed. She was filmed in the mirror, Dr. asked her questions and camera turned to her for the answer. If she had been serious they would have edited her out.

    Fucking twaddle knocker medic went to irrigate my ears and used cold water. I got so dizzy so fast i puked all over.
    I reacted poorly. He starts yelling for the MPs, my doctor came in with them and saw the puke. He stuck his finger in the water and told the MPs to leave. Then he told the medic "I'd have taken a swing at you too. Now clean that up and get out"
    The lesson: never irrigate a patient's ears with cold water

    That's really need my daughter had tubes put in when she was in first grade since she was six and I never really got to see him so I think that's pretty cool that he did the camera and now I could actually really see what it look like in side my daughter's ear even though that's not my daughter but I'm sure it's similar! Also I have to say that this doctor looks a lot like my daughter's doctor which is kind of crazy so I guess it's like his twin that he doesn't know about!
