Quite how you can say immediately after he changes his narrative from "I left" to "I was fired" that he's believable and not lying makes you look ridiculous. By my own approximate tally at least 800-1000 British soldiers have died in Ukraine. A part of Ukraine that is historically, culturally, linguistically and by the overwhelming democratic will of the people Russian. No British soldier has any justification for being there.
Oh you are a silly little boy to come out with this nonsense. The UK is not recruiting at all. Come Russian bot you can do a lot better than that. I thought Russian counter information/ propaganda war was an intelligent operation. This won’t be believed by anyone who has an half of brain cell.

I respect your effort in trying to put a "sympathetic" spin on this, well done. But not taken in by me.
Sorry but with a name and accent like that he most likely been privately educated and is an officer in the army. The whole back story is very clearly nonsense and is a pretty poor cover story. How any one can believe it is beyond me.!! The guy has been sent there by the army/ government to assist Ukraine with the suicidal incursion into Kursk. The are large numbers of NATO forces planning and assisting this especially Polish. He is in Kursk for the purpose of killing Russian soldiers and there are videos showing the horrific killing of civilians. The captured soldiers like him are usually jailed and deservedly so, however he will eventually be released in a prisoner swap.
What a load of nonsense. You do realise the British Army is such a small firm it takes literally seconds on Arrse to ascertain the truth or ask about his unit. He was ex sigs bootedout, became a custody officer then fancied a bit of action. The NATO part is also complete bollocks.

Nothing to do with NATO? Who supplies the weapons? Who has been training Ukrainian units (with little success)? WHO is funding Ukraine, they don’t have enough money to pay pensions or public sector workers, let alone the military. Macron and Trudeau have publically made statements condemning Russian missle attacks on buildings housing large numbers of their citizens (military more like it). From Italy: we have laws preventing people to serve as mercenaries abroad, but there is people doing it anyway. The situation is pretty bad in Kursk, Russians accused mercenaries and Ukrainian troops of having done very bad things to locals, burning houses, killing civilians and other horrible things, so Russians could even decide to treat prisoners as terrorists. All in all he's lucky being alive and in good physical conditions, I think that the fact Russian are winning and closing the Kursk pocket, may help this guy, since there is no need to abuse the prisoners, while from a judiciary point of view, the whole thing may be more complex, in any case I don't think his life is at risk.
That's the key fact mate, he is on the Russian side of the border as a Mercenary, if he'd been a few miles south his fate would have been far kinder. The Russians know exactly how many of each nation has mercernaries in Ukraine, it's been an unwritten rule both sides have abided by. Russia had been using Wagner and Ukraine using ex soldiers from NATO countries. The Russians see taking an anglo-saxon as they call us and americans as trophies. England has been the most hawkish of all countries fighting against Russia, just read our hardline media vs US media that doesen't really care much now. Russia has no death penalty, and UK will not be patching it's relationship up with Russia in our lifetimes... best this guy can hope for is not a life sentence which he should get provided the Russian FSB don't uncover evidence of him doing anything absolutely provable. Also did he say he came from oxford or went to Oxford University? A waste of a life regardless but his posh oxford accent suggests his story about his father etc is bs as well.
Ahh, that was a great feature, Phil. In all fairness, the British Authorities especially warned ex-soldiers not to go to Ukraine. He looked well cared for, with no bruises or black eyes. He is very lucky the Russian army has been lenient to him. Let's hope he eventually gets onto a prisoner exchange scheme. He may have to spend a little time in the famous Siberian prisons. As Phil says, I hope he comes out ok, but you can't blame his captors if they decide to administer some recompense for his ill-thought-out actions. It could actually be the making of him.
They're probably treating him quite well for propaganda purposes, but also because he's young and fit and would be quite useful as a labourer in a Siberian salt mine or clearing snow off railways or something
@@andyasdf2078 They so far had treated EVERYONE well, even the Azov scum. Are you really serious?
how do you travel to Ukraine as a mercenary? Do they have a mercenary visa? You really get into Ukraine anyway you can, a tourist visa, join the army, and take part in the special military exercise that Russia organised. As a soldier legally employed by Ukraine Govt.
@colonelfusterluck486, As a soldier LEGALLY employed by Ukraine Govt?? Obviously, you’ve not been reading the comments. Don’t you feel any pity for this young man who’s life is now, sadly, in shambles?
Anyone with a thirst for combat has either never been at the shitty end of it before, or is simply tapped in the organic abacus - nobody escapes war unaffected; if you live through it then it *will* change you as a human being on some level, it changes everyone and if people say it doesn’t then their wiring must be a rats nest of spaghetti and short circuits. 🤷♂️ I’m not talking about ex-soldiers looking at private security contracts, I’m talking about the guys who actively pursue involvement in armed conflict - it’s not normal.
From what I’ve heard from others who went out there, one of the biggest challenges is the language barrier. When you’re in a platoon and an order or warning is being barked out in a foreign language, or even in English by someone for whom English isn’t their first language, the extra moment it might take to understand and absorb the information and react accordingly could put you at a disadvantage to your comrades and mean a higher risk of death, injury, or in this case, capture.
I think this challenge is dwarfed by the challenge that you’re on the side which is overmatched by a factor of 5 to 10 in almost all sources of firepower, from artillery, to armor, to kamikaze drones, to OTBMs, to air power, to, well you get the picture. Oh, plus you’re on the bad side, oppressing the local Donbas population, that doesn’t want you there. Great war to be involved in, hah?
@Tandamaniac wars like this attract the Psychos, fantasists and those unable to join their own countries forces for being below the standard. The Balkans was full of them.

As a once ''volunteer'' (not in the Ukraine army) , and having had quite a lot of contact with various volunteers at various points in my life , I have made one observation : A surprising number of these young men have very , very , poor relationships with their fathers. I'm not drawing any sort of conclusion from this , it's is merely an observation that I have made and one that I note is repeated here .
What ever the situation, he is in a serious pickle here most young lads want to go war and experience killing the enemy but war is both way street those bullets go both ways so just be careful what you wish for and understand its not glorious amd glamorous like it seems in the movies. Its horrific and tragic and i just couldnt imagine seeing dead bodies every day and living in horrendous places eating food thats horrible. Il stop rambling now
That's the problem. Hollywood and the media glorify war for the expressed purpose of suckering in the gullible and self-deluded. We are so heavily programmed that it seems almost every time the phrase 'Freedom and Democracy' is mentioned, most of us automatically take sides without looking deeply into what is actually going on. Even worse is when people start justifying wrong-doing when the narrative they believe in gets challenged by evidence or reality, which then causes them to deny the latter, often vehemently; sometimes violently.
I have to assume that such fighters do not read the Geneva Convention on Prisoners of war before they enlist. Mercenaries are clearly defined and the Convention does not require that they be provided with anything except "humane treatment".
Good thing that we aren't mercenaries then as we don't meet the definition. We are under the same governerment contract of a legitimate government as the Ukrainian soldiers. We are paid exactly the same as the Ukrainian soldiers. We are equipped the same as the Ukrainian soldiers. We earn far less than we would working the lowest wage job in our home nations. We don't because we aren't pussies and we want to defend Ukrainians and stop Russia's expansion. They have stated they intend to keep expanding, they need to be stopped.

".....he went over to do the right thing (fight for Ukraine).....", too bad he was misinformed, by western MSM, as to why there's a battle to begin with. Had he known what kind of 'democracy' ( Ukraine banned opposition parties, banned all radio and TV, that did not agree with the government, arrested opposition leaders, banned and occupied the Russian and Ukrainian Orthodox Church, confiscated the properties, etc.)he was fighting for, he would have joined the Russian forces in liberating a hijacked Ukraine by western interests.
sad story, unfortunately for him he will not be treated as a PoW under Geneva conversation as he is not gone there as a British soldier, but as a mercenary hired to kill Russians on Russian soil for money. all he can hope for is mercy from Russian government. any x military western soldiers thinking to do the same as this poor lad did think twice.

No worries.. this isn't story hour for the Russians either. What they're gleaning from this demo is likely not what you think or what he says per se
In fact, this is a very rare occurrence. Mercenaries from other countries are usually not taken prisoner and he is very lucky to be alive.
Yes. But as a signaller I’d say he understands that.

I don't believe he has a POW status, international mercenaries are considered to be terrorists.
It's my understanding that he completed 4 years in the R. Signals. He was medically discharged as a result of injuries and was described by those who served with him as a good steady soldier.
I'm glad to hear that. If he gets home, a wee crowdfunded fund to help him restart life, which by the way costs about £10k these days (6 months rent)

From someone here; from week one, on the front lines, listen to this guy!
Do not come out here unless you can bring something to the table.
This is not a computer game! You need more than basic to ever hope of returning home!
My service can be proven, upon request, from only the guy presenting the video.
Well what can you say, out of the army stay out. Did 22 bloody marvellous up to 1990 great overseas. Now escaped to Australia. What a sham the UK has become🇦🇺
You abandoned it. I don't blame you.
He would have zero combat experience as an ex signaller as they are not a member of a teeth arm with one exception. Hi infantry experience would stretch as far as basic training. Also why did he get discharged? Only a fool would go to fight for the Ukraine. It's a manufactured war.
True and you can bet the Regiment are deeply involved in prodding the bear,
Youth and foolishness tend to go hand in hand. I hope he gets home safe.

5:40-5:52 This is solid advice for life in general. Not just physically but mentally as well
As for the captured guy, there is no argument against the fact that he is/was a mercenary fighting not just against the Russians but actually within Russian territory and that is bad bad news.
There's an old saying "Never interfere in what you don't understand". That poor guy knew nothing of Ukraine, of Russia or the causes of this conflict.
Equal to peterphiles in the reckoning of things.
@@baconbrew3761 Problem with selfloafing is that the other side will decide if you meet definition or not, not you.
@@baconbrew3761 I see you dont know much about conflict then
@xaddo know plenty. Fought it for 3 years, follow the changes and geopolitical reactions, read the Intel briefs, know the history of the nation. I take it you know very little however.
Propaganda leads to poor decisions, the Brits fighting for Russia have a much better deal.
Many Brits fighting now in the international brigade. Watch out starmer and charlie sausage fingers your time is coming
From what I know about this conflict and how Russian soldiers treat foreign mercenaries in Kursk region, this guy is very lucky to be alive.
If the Russians are lenient to him... it's a lot more than a Russian would get from the UK
Love your work - Keep it coming!
Thanks for the support
Fighting for Ukraine is stupid and dangerous!
According to international law and Geneva convention that British mercenary has no right as a normal prisoner of war.
Crazy. He is not a POW . He is a mercenary. He is in deep shit.
what happened to name, rank, and serial number? or is that just in movies?
no that is just in guantanamo bay lol
Either he'll be thrown in prison for a very long time or used as potential prisoner swap
prison, rest of his life, what a morron'''s like he is going to change the course of the war, total idio'''ts
Well dude... I hope you enjoy Siberia very much! Weather is nice over there!
he will remain in prison for 10 years then he will be exchanged for a higher profile russian prisoner, what a plonker
Наемников оставляют в живых лишь по одной причине, их можно обменять на несколько наших плененных солдат🇷🇺
sad story, unfortunately for him he will not be treated as a PoW under Geneva conversation as he is not gone there as a British soldier, but as a mercenary hired to kill Russians on Russian soil for money. all he can hope for is mercy from Russian government. any x military western soldiers thinking to do the same as this poor lad did think twice.
I bet that "I was fired" is a cover story.

Nowadays there is a new name for mercenaries, private security, it's's the same job just given a different name.
