I love the kids that were are open to trying unfamiliar foods. I don't think I would have the courage to try food that I've never heard of from a different country.
I'm an Asian. I tried a lot of snacks from my country, neighbouring countries, few other non Asian countries that i visited and America. My favourite snack is still sunflower seed Chacheer brand from China and peanuts. Nothing fancy. I do think American snacks taste like chemicals. All given by friends and my brother. Never thought of buying them myself. I guess, it's just depends on whatever food that people grew up with. But it's good to try new stuffs, u might like them.
The craziest thing is that my favorite snacks are also from China, I'm craving the Mahua/ Ma Hwa. One of my father's clients brought it over as a gift from china. I will never forget it. I'm from the Bahamas, so it's impossible for me to get it without ordering it online.
hey cantomando, bring this series to shenzhen. if not just come to shenzhen id ill be 100% willing to take yall on a tour of one of china's most advanced cities
Woah. I just googled your city and as someone from rural Kentucky in the mountains it looks so damn cool I would love to visit one day. Maybe you could come to Kentucky!
my dad is american and i have a chinese mom. i currently live in the US so i am used to having less sweet snacks at home like apple crisps as desert. during school years i always eat school lunch, so i can eat chinese and american snacks and i totally understand why these kids do not like american snacks.
My school did a exchange with the a sister school in chengdu and since I live in hk when I went there all the food is just Mala spicy stuff like everything
This should be a series, the climate difference between different provinces provides the kids with different liking of flavours. For example, a kid from Szechuan would love a spicy snack
It's so nice to hear them compare the snacks to things that are familiar to them, it helps me set expectations for when I finally get to try some Chinese candy. Outside the haw flakes at least lol
My dad told me how the snacks in the cinema in HK were chicken wings, roasted nuts or chestnuts, squid, curry fish balls and his fave squid strips with chilli. Such a feast!! Then by the mid80s, it became popcorn and hotdogs 😅
Subway in Shanghai. They have like hundreds of snack options. And. They all the 'worst' case scenario for American seeking Lays or Doritos. Probably one of the easier one to handle, salted dried prune. And I offer one to my friend's sister, when I a kid, it touch her tongue and she spit it out onto the floor. These Chinese kid a lot more adventurous. If you a kid and your parents buy occasional Chinese snack in Chinatown and you love it. You in heaven, take subway Shanghai. You'll never run out of option, take subway. New 'favorite' snack, every 2-3 month. The Chinese 'snack' that Americans want is the jerky. It taste the way you want it to taste. American jerky try to BE 'jerky' and it a faint, kinda weak taste. Chinese pack with fruit juice and flavoring. It what you want, and it really cheap. Make you thirsty, though. Beef. Pork. It really awesome.
In my school district, they only allowed the baked version of flaming hot cheetos. My school district basically only allowed the diet versions of junk food.
I like savory snacks so maybe i should find a place taht sells Chinese snacks I love seeing the cuture difference of different parts of the world its intresting
Love all these kids' reactions. Except the one boy, obviously. Maybe he'll be more up to try new things when he's older. That one girl rating everything a zero is funny. So serious. Girl must be getting the finest wild beluga caviar as a snack food. XD
That kid calling everything sour might not know how to fully describe things yet. My daughter used to call that bite you get from the carbination of a coke "spicy". They can associate with sensations sometimes
The girl giving it a ten thinking the highest score is 100 is so funny I've studied with Chinese kids and they will be anything but happy if that score results aren't a 100 meanwhile I'm content with me 60 及格 which is barely passing and got a scolding from the teachers

It’s easy to be influenced by your surroundings. I appreciate the girl being open minded to trying the snacks even though the boy next to her refused.

cool ranch is fake ranch. fake ranch taste like fake tomato if you ever had any asian chips.
The kid actually said that it tasted like tomatoes, not ketchup. The subtitle was a little misleading. That might actually be worse though lol.
In my opinion, rice krispies have a great flavor, but one of the hold-backs is the okay texture.
