Your guidance to restring blinds worked perfect for me! You made my day! Thank you kindly!
Great video! I love that you described the struggle and the pitfalls in the video so we could learn from it. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Thank you for giving me the inspiration and knowledge on how to do this ..I'm on such a tight budget and need to save wherever I can...I have 4 blinds that the strings need fixing Thanks again...
This was perfect, thank you. I repaired 4 sets of blinds this weekend with this video. You rock!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this!! Took me less than twenty min to fix our blind and we were stressing about it for weeks!
Just discovered this channel, and you rock! What a joy
My wand broke - just found your video. Thank you! I'm going to try to fix it! You just earned a new sub! So happy I found your channel!
Thank you for this helpful video. I watched several videos on how to repair the blinds and I find yours to be the easiest to follow. Perhaps because we have the same model, but it also helps that you save big time by telling us what mistakes we can avoid. Thank you!
Smart idea using the toothpick! In the future you can use a trick electricians use when pulling cable through walls - tie the new string to the old string thats already in the blinds. Pull the old string out and the new string will automatically be in place!
I am going to buy new caps and then do this. I appreciate seeing the mistakes and figuring it out. Just gotta keep to it. 🎉
Never knew they sold replacement parts for blinds, thanks!
Just fixed my blinds, thanks for this video Angela!
Wow I was about to change it with a nylon string!! THANK YOU SO Much you definitely motivated me to finally do this job! Thanks
THANK YOU for posting this video!! I've been renting my whole life, but recently was "forced" to buy an apartment because rent is OUT OF CONTROL. Had absolutely no idea how to fix the broken blinds, but your video gave me the courage & knowledge to replace the cord. Now our blinds are working great, thank you!!
Ouch! LOL. Thanks for the show and tell. You were entertaining, as well. Very cute presentation. Now I will change out my broken wand mechanism.
What a great tutorial! You are very talented and had to restring it twice? You've helped me to decide to go with curtains! That looks way too frustrating for me. Sending Love from Louisiana.💚
THANK YOU! Your video helped me figure out how to get the blinds off the window, and helped me figure out what was wrong. One of the strands that raises the blinds had popped out of its casing and gotten sucked up into the mechanism and somehow got tied up around the center bar in a way that looked like it was supposed to do that when I opened it up. After watching your video and taking down another set of blinds in my house to see how it looked when it was done correctly, I was able to fix the problem and the blinds are working again.
So glad it was helpful!
thank you this helped alot much appreciated. Wasn't as hard as I thought but it was helpful for me to do a before video to make sure I had the string through the right parts. Also doing the electrican tip putting the old cord on the new one and pulling through was genius
Thank you so much for your trial and error and success! Happy it worked out. You are saving my life. I'm a renter and my cats chewed the crap out of my blinds
Thank you for sharing how to do this and the tips and tricks - very helpful, as I am dreading fixing a double window blind with 2 broken strings! (However I did have to mute the video and read the close-captioning because the piano music was just overwhelming to me when trying to listen to you at the same time.)
You are a genius!! Love love love
You should of tied the cotton string to the nylon string and it would of restring itself as you pulled it out
Thanks so much. Need to replace part for wand, and string. Watching you and your pointers gave me confidence to do it, too.
Hey Sis, thank you for guiding me through this crazy blind situation..... U ROCK!!!! YES, Girl Power -:)
My wife and I have cats....don't think I need to elaborate. I will have to do this on at least 3 windows! Ugh.... Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thank you, thank you I've tried before and failed but your instruction got me to the finished repair!
So glad it helped!
Instead of using a toothpick to thread the new cord, cut the ends of the old cord and new cord and burn them together with a lighter and then pull the old cord out and it will feed the new cord all the way through.
Thank you for making this video! I have some faux wood blinds that had the same wand issue and I had priced out replacements ($70.00!!!) and I had relegated myself and decided to just make some curtains. I used the link to the wand mechanism and am going to give it a try!
I currently have some with the string untied or something on one end. I'm gonna take it apart and try this process. Thanks ChickFix!!
Thanks for your efforts, have a great Xmas
This video was amazing and helpful! Thank you
Awesome!! Thank you for sharing. I have one to replace but the gratification of fix it it’s much better 😃
Thank you do much this was so helpful I fixed my blinds in 50 minutes but its better than buying a new one. You deserve a sub
An even easier way to pull the new string through is to cut the bottom as you did, melt the end with a wand lighter and quickly attach the new string and roll between your thumb and finger. It will fuse together and allow for you to just pull the bad string through with the new one attached. Only works if the old string is just frayed or too short but not if it's broken. No threading involved.
Good info. I was a partner in a blind and awning company for a few years and this was exactly how we did it.
Yours is the only way!
Yay! I actually fixed it. Thank you!
Just found your channel. Loved the video! New subscriber for sure. Love your sense of humor too!
Thanks for the kind words!
Excelente Video, Congratulation from Quito
Thank you for this! YOU are brilliant!!
Be sure to fix your cord BEFORE they break. Then, as @talljr1 wrote 2 posts down, you can fix it w/o any tedious threading. It is a matter of minutes. Attach the new string to the end of the old one by fusing them together. Use the flame from a lighter, match, candle or other source, to melt the ends and roll them together between your fingertips. Then simply pull the string through on the other end with the new string attached. Done!
I followed along and this was perfect. Thank you!!
Thank you for the information, will have to try it on one of my blinds.
Good luck!
Thank you for posting this. Could you have tied the strings together and pulled them through? Or are they too thick? Only asking because I’m just getting ready to have to do this very thing.
Great video, so helpful, thank you!
Thanks I replaced strings in a while :)
If you would have taped new cord to old cord, when you pull old cord out new cord follows in it’s place....so you don’t have to lace twice.
Perfect, thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH GREAT VIDEO
Would you please just come and do mine? Thank you for this great video. Yes, I will try this, of course!
Do I used one cord for both sides or two separate cords and thread each one up?
Two separate
Wow nice job! You are funny. Let's just bend the needle with your teeth ! And then bumping your head in the end ! Classic. Thanks for the tip on the line. I was just about to buy Mason line but thought the cotton would be better. You confirmed it. Just need to find the cotton now. Toothpick trick shows you are using your creatively genius engine.
how thick is the new string supposed to be? I see on Amazon 1mm and 1.8mm
You are awesome 👍
Can u replace just the tip of the tilt wand mechanism
HI there. Does anybody know a place to by the slats? I have replaced the Wand mechanism and need some extra slats. I found a company in Colorado, but the freight will be too much. Can't find any place in Florida. THANKS
Usually there are extra slats at the bottom of each blind that you can use to replace broken slats above it. If you don't have any on yours, perhaps contact fixmyblinds.com/ and see if they have anything available.
Are you saying that to fix a broken pull string, you have to restring the cord through all of the slats as well?
Well, that's the way I did it, but if you have enough to work with, you might be able to just tie it off wherever it broke.
@@ChickFixUSA it didn’t break. It got caught on the open slot and got shredded before I realized it. About 3-4 feet “unraveled”. Bought 100 feet of cord, and will try to replace it this weekend. Thanks for your response.
@@ChickFixUSA what’s the name of the mechanisms to be replaced please?
2:45 I totally thought she was gonna have the bright Idea of tying the new string to the bottom of the old string & then pulling it thru.
But alas, she didn't.
Thank you so much
How long should the string be?
You = awesome
Hmmm, since you already had it threaded with the nylon string or even the original blind cord, why not just tie your new string to the old string at the bottom of the blind and pull it up through the blind slats and lock mechanism and then cut off the old string and tie the ends of the new string??? You could even heat the old and new strings with a lighter and "Weld" them together with your fingers on the hot melty string to form a nice smooth joint where the two strings come together if a knot would be too fat to traverse the whole string path... Just say'n, might save you a bunch of time and frustration... Nice video however. Thanks a million for sharing.
That's a good point, and in hindsight, that would have been a lot easier. Thank you for watching and leaving a nice comment!
You should have melted the cut end to the new end and pulled the string through from the top, no fiddling about
Yeah, that might have worked too
ChickFix USA , not might but it’s actually a recommended method suggested by professionals. Used it myself and saved me a load of fumbling time wasting.
Can't get my blinds off the wall though.
Totally removing the bar was a waste of time and energy. Pull it out from the other side just enough to free the gearbox.
Too fast. Couldn't see how you remove the blinds from wall
REPENT AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST BEFORE ITS TOO LATE ✝️
Omg, I chipped my front tooth doing that trick....... never use your teeth
Thank you so much.
