@gabelogan5877 I am leaning more towards 2 wins at most. Don't forget that the preferential ballot is used for Picture, which means people have to rank their favorites and the film with the broadest overall likeability that also ranks high enough on ballots wins. If the old-fashioned system of "vote for 1 winner" system was used, then EMILIA PEREZ handily wins (BAFTA uses the same system, and I expect EMILIA PEREZ to win there mainly because the scandal erupted a little too late there and also because of the voting system), but the controversy paired with large factions of voters voting down (just as many as high ones) likely rules it out. Besides, every Picture winner since 2003 won at least one of either Director or Screenplay, and EMILIA PEREZ is not favored for either right now. My Vote for Pic is Anora, but with the Brutalist CLOSE SECOND!!! Actor Brody, Actress Moore, Sup Actor Culkin, Sup Actress Saldona, and Director Corbet, The Brutalist!!!
I just finished Nickel Boys and, although it's not necessarily the best of the year, it's a shame it wasn't nominated for best cinematography. Especially over Emilia Perez 😭 Nickel Boys took risks with its camera work and I admire that.
Demi moore she dont make oscar worthy performance but she suprise audiance she comeback with searies acting and supject if we compare this film in her past
Guys, I saw a real pain and Kieran would’ve been nominated in lead quite easily. This is the most absurd category fraud ever, I’m rooting for someone else in a real supporting role. Zoe is lead but as Karla commands her all the time I swallow as supporting but Kieran I can’t
That makes no sense. Zoe and Ariana are just as much leads as Culkin is. Either they all outrage you or you're a giant hypocrite. And you also can't be okay with Zoe as supporting because Karla went lead. They literally did that exact same thing with A Real Pain.
I’m never okay with category fraud. Ariana Zoe and Kieran are leads, but from those 3 Ariana and Kieran were undeniably lead for me. I agree with Viola Davis as supporting for fences for example, I tolerate a fraud when the character’s arc is very submissive of the co-lead. Olivia Colman for example does what Rachel and Emma scheme so even though all three are leads I’d accept Colman supporting and the fighting ladies as leads, but they as supporting was ridiculous.
I wish Fernanda Torres could pull off that win at the Oscars. She's a FORCE OF NATURE in I'm Still Here We would all lose our minds out of happiness here in Brazil if that happened haha ❤😂

Really liked your choices. For what I've seen to this point (as I was absolutrely spellbound by Anora, like I did also in "Tangerine" and "The Florida Project") I would go for it in picture, but also in director (unlike you).I've also seen others like The Substance, but -as all years- I hope to see as many nominated movies as possible, to have a better criteria.

I know Simon Hayes, who is on the sound team of Wicked, won as part of the sound team for Les Mis. I personally think the sound quality of the live singing in Wicked sounded MUCH BETTER than in Les Mis, so I wonder if Wicked will win Best Sound for that achievement alone.
Diane Warren is long overdue! She has been horribly mistreated by popularity at the Oscars. Let’s not kid each other here. And as long as Demi wins, is all good for me.
Re: Best Editing for The Brutalist. At the end when Erzebet tells Van Buren about the rape he removes himself from the room and for the next 3-4 minutes his family/friends search for him with no resolution! Any editor worth their salt knows that you heavily cut that scene because it leads to nothing, especially when the movie is already 3:30+ long! Based on that alone the Editor for the Brutalist should not be under consideration.
I wouldn't even call El Mal a good song, it makes absolutely no sense narratively, it introduces concepts which the movie has never touched and abandons immediately. It's only considered good because it's flashy, loud and because Saldaña hams it up.
Rita, the woman who made a living by defending people she knew were guilty, then teamed up with a cartel leader, was oddly calling other people out for their corruption/past evil deeds? I think there could have been some moral dilemma plot in there somewhere if they had thought it through more. It seemed very random and out of no where, almost like there was a scene that got deleted that would have contextualized it.
@austinpelissier2131 exactly!!! It could've been an interesting theme, maybe with Rita seeing Emilia take credit for her work, like her previous boss had done. But instead Emilia always makes sure to praise her, and all conflict between the two is avoided. Maybe Rita could've felt guilty about helping corrupt people whitewash their image through their donations, but she just calls it out in her head and nothing happens. In fact we have to assume that these people were successful in cleaning up their image. The movie's primary sin is that it is boring and refuses to take the story to interesting places. It instead settles for teasing things that are never expanded upon.

Just gotta say, I'm not surprised Challengers didn't get a score nomination. As I watched the movie, I said to myself I know lots of people are going to really get into this score, but Trent and Atticus did basically the same sort of thing with The Social Network score, which was infinitely better IMO. I thought to myself I doubt the academy is going to give these guys another Oscar for a score that was too similar that one, and I was correct.
First of all, the ability to change your mind is not a flaw. Nowadays it is almost a sin, but it is truly a human ability. A quality even. If he changed his mind, that’s ok. Being undeterred, rigid in one’s opinions, that’s the problem. But I don’t think that’s the case here. There’s a lot of difference between what Brian thinks is gonna win and what he wishes would win.
What is your opinion on the AI use in The Brutalist? After SAG ground Hollywood to a stop in their fight against the use of AI, I don’t think it would be a good look to award an AI enhanced performance. Do you think it has a chance to sink Brody’s chances? It would be a shame because his work in the film is great, but perhaps tainted.

I love horror and so far The Substance is my favorite movie of the year. But as a longtime horror fan I don't see the originality in screenplay. It's a very clever script but its a standard body horror film. Nothing really any more original than the classic horror film The Stuff, just way better made.

As long as The Substance wins Best Makeup, I’m happy
This year make up and fashion so weak and bad
Danielle Deadwyler has been robbed twice of Oscar Nominations
She make Amazing performance but she has no role and the script so weak, they based on the play so bad,try to make horror same beloved for opraha winfry when she make the novel
The score for The Brutalist was incredible.
Picture my choice is The Substance
Me too
At this point Brian has made so many videos about nominations that I have remembered every single nominee in every category 😂
I know the chance of this is happening is very unlikely, although it has happened twice in the acting categories, but can you imagine a tie between Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres for best actress? That would be so epically iconic to see both women walk up to the stage and accept their statuettes.
It doesn't happen anymore.
I don’t support blackface or bigotry so no on Torres. Besides the voting was changed to preferential voting which lowered the chance for a tie.
@@gabelogan5877 Preferential only affects Picture. The rest of the categories still vote the same.
@@gabelogan5877what about 20 year old moore kissing a 15 year old boy?
@@gabelogan5877blackface from 20 years ago, now tell me about demi kissing a minor.
I'm Still Here for best actress and best international picture, IMHO, and Dune Two for best picture-not happening, tho.
"Nickel Boys" was amazing. ❤
I love your channel and I love your analysis, EVEN THOUGH I'm rooting for Demi, but that's your right.I love you
We all love him❤
I don't think that Demi Moore gave us an Oscar Worthy perfomance...
SHE DID
I dont either but it seems like everyone thinks she did.
@@Cinemahguy Her performance is great, but nothing extraordinary, I think Mikey Madison's performance is better, or even Fernanda's or Cynthia's
@ I agree. My vote has always been Madison.
Demi moore she dont make oscar worthy performance but she suprise audiance she comeback with searies acting and supject if we compare this film in her past
ugh been anticipating this video !!
In an interview with THR, Jesse Eisenberg slipped up and called Culkin his “lead” and then tried to backtracked and called him the supporting actor
@@gabelogan5877 hahahahah
The real pain no story and kukin he made nothing becase he has no role at all
I wish Fernanda Torres could pull off that win at the Oscars. She's a FORCE OF NATURE in I'm Still Here
We would all lose our minds out of happiness here in Brazil if that happened haha ❤😂
Omg please ask your fellow Brazilians to calm down. Yall spam every comment section you can. Demi Moore’s acceptance speech was like 90% “Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Fernanda!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷” so annoying

Best supporting actor and diroctor only, audry make same role in the pianist
Emilia Perez has more song nominations that Saturday Night Fever and Grease combined.
I agree let Dianne Warren have it!😂😂
I watched Anora and adored it, but I don't think it's deserving of this moment. I think her talent should be tied to something else for an oscar. But Cynthia and Demi were INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
Anora the favorite film not the best
And kiran kulkin in the real pain fans selection
Wicked non adults selection i mean the favorite to under age audiance
I would pick Demi for Best Actress and Ariana for supporting best picture I pick the Substance because it my so different

The substance did take screenplay at canne so it could
Now... after Karla's tweets ??? Emília is over!!

@@colleen4ever It's not good. Gascon questioned why the rioting in Minnesota over the death of a "thug" like George Floyd (I live in Minneapolis; this guy has no clue). There are also r@cist tweets about Islamic womyn's dress and the influence of Muslims in politics (I also live in a city with a strong Muslim population; the world isn't ending.)
More to the point, Gascon bad mouthed Fernanda Torres and implied that her team was speaking out about him. There is no evidence of this. I want to know why Gascon is still a nominee. Speaking out against anothet nominee is a violation of Academy rules.
She so weak the actor who act the role before her transition was amazing and deserve best supporting actor nom
@ Ironically, Karla played the pre-transition role in the film too, hence the Makeup nomination.
Makeup & Hairstyling my choice is The Substance

Director brady corbet
Actor timothee.chalamet
Actress demi.moore
Supporting.actress zoe.zaldana
Supporting actor kierain culkin

I really love Brian's unchangeable hate for Diane Warren. Makes me laugh every time
I don’t know if it’s hate as much as it’s pure exhaustion by her inclusion for her D list songs.
My personal picks are:
Picture: I'm Still Here
Director: Brady Corbet for The Brutalist
Actor: Ralph Fiennes for The Brutalist
Actress: Fernanda Torres for I'm Still Here
Supporting Actor: Guy Pearce for The Brutalist
Supporting Actress: Ariana Grande for Wicked
Original Screenplay: The Substance
Adapted Screenplay: Conclave
Animated Feature: Flow
Internation Feature: I'm Still Here from Brazil
Original Score: Wicked
Original Song: Like a Bird from Sing Sing
Production Design: Dune Part Two
Cinematography: Nosferatu
Costume Design: Wicked
Makeup and Hairstyling: The Substance
Film Editing: Wicked
Sound: Dune Part Two
Visual Effects: Dune Part Two
Costume is a lock for Wicked. The only lock I have in the entire race. 😊
Costume Design my choice is Wicked
I think you haven’t seen Torres performance! She’s so talented omg the academy will give it to her even though Demi’s campaign stronger because Torres is such a tradicional and also powerful choice
Adapted Screenplay my choice is Conclave
Diane Warren is long overdue!
She has been horribly mistreated by popularity at the Oscars. Let’s not kid each other here.
And as long as Demi wins, is all good for me.
Would love to hear your opinion on the messinesses behind this season
Man Emilia Perez getting all the Oscars would make me absolutely overjoyed. It would probably be the funniest ceremony. Lets make it happen Hollywood.
emilia perez is trash
You should do a ranking of all 10 nominees
Original Screenplay my choice is The Substance
I have my Criterion 4k of Anora pre-ordered after months of you praising it (plus I love his other work obvi).
@collinmichaelkahn3918 I disliked Anora big time, Mikey is it’s saving grace
I appreciate your continued efforts to pronounce Emilia Pérez correctly lol

9:24- I'm pissed that none of the songs from The Wild Robot were nominated. Cross out BOTH Emila Perez songs and put 'Even When I'm Not' there instead.
Challengers should be nominated for Score and Film editing ❤
Watched last weekend and loved it
This is the first year since 2017 where I don't have a personal favorite. There are many films I liked. I have high hopes for Anora, The Substance, A real Pain, A complete Unknown and A Different Man, but even out of those five, I have no idea where my vote would land for best picture.
I don't understand to this very moment, why Dune Part 2 is so underrated???
I love your vote for best director
for anora speaks the fact sean baker himself cut the movie , he is 4 time nominated this night and he can win his deserved oscar
Whoever told you that was right, it is BorIsov!
I was really rooting for Challengers, thoroughly enjoyed that one :(
The Brutalist for Best Production Design. When they unveiled that private library was the moment I knew.

Production-Conclave
Cinematography-Dune Part 2

Editing-Conclave
VFX-Dune Part 2
After finally seeing Conclave, I don't think I would've nominated it outside of lead actor, cinematography, and costume design.
Well…🙄 Demi😉😎
Funny how he is suddenly almost completely ignoring Emila Perez. He read the comment section under the review he did with that other guy, obviously
He was never over the moon for Emilia Perez. Even trans people don't like that movie
He never hyped up Emilia Perez. But Brian has been SOOOOO hyped about Anora though.

Perfect list!!
I love horror and so far The Substance is my favorite movie of the year. But as a longtime horror fan I don't see the originality in screenplay. It's a very clever script but its a standard body horror film. Nothing really any more original than the classic horror film The Stuff, just way better made.
The substance all people love adult and under age and critics becase mix many thing in same time
It would be so cool the substance win
Picture
Director
Actress
Screenplay
Make and hairstyles
The best editing would be to edit out EP from this year's ceremony
Amen!
Actor my choice is Adrien Brody for The Brutalist
It sounds like u love the substances more than any other movies 😂, eventhough your favourite movie is “Anora”
Visual Effects my choice is Alien: Romulus or Dune: Part Two
I’m not saying Adrien Brody doesn’t deserve the win but I’m upset that they used AI for his voice so in a way it’s not him.
I agree, jwes hollywood selection,we still remember his role in the pianist typical performance,if we dont watch him in the pianist will feel his good but becase we watch the puanist we feel duplication
I’m with you Brian - considering how weak Best Song is this year can we just give the win to Diane Warren so she stops taking spots in the lineup every year. This is the perfect time to award her.
Emilia Perez was the worst movie I saw all year…. Totally confused why it’s so nominated!
Now ask her what she thinks about Audiard's comments regarding Spanish, the language he choose to do this movie
