Something different...something clever. Hard for some people to accept but if you want more "same old same old" there is plenty of that on RUclips too. This, was very well done and genuinely creative.
Mèlissa SHOULD be proud. She's certainly more talented than I am and more talented and creative than most if not all of you making these horrible comments. When will the day finally come when (we) men accept the fact that women are equally talented and stop being intimidated by them? She's AMAZING. So it isn't your cup of tea. But let her light and spirit shine unabated by chauvinistic drivel and support your colleague in her endeavor of creativity. If you have something constructive to offer, then do it...make your statement by showing your talent and creativity instead of trouncing on others'. Unlock your closed minds open yourself to the joy of the freedom of others' expression. Jeez.
I love it. So Cool. I would love to have this set-up. Keep it coming. Your changing the game of new creativity. Don't listen to what people are saying. Some people are not for change.
I can swallow the fact that she can loop samples and I'm totally fine with that.. I'm just asking you maybe tune down how pleased you look with yourself, it's not that great of a performance for a contest about drumming. bland as hell. It was watching how to build a beat for 13 minutes. I just get a vibe that its "Hey I'm a chick with something different and super niche African beat to hide a lack in talent, love me."
I got through 4 minutes - I'm done! 😒 The looping beat was cool and I was waiting for it to morph into a bad ass hip-hop jam!!! Nope - just that same loop over & over, and her making random noises, clicks & clacks - like a baby slapping the noisemaker on his stroller smh. And the fact that this was a CONTEST... Come on! smh .. If you remove the loop and just listen to what she's doing live- it's all just random fuqqing noise, like someone playing around on their new kit for the first time. WTF?!?! And the cherry on top of it all,.. She's GRINNING & BOUNCING LIKE A CHESHIRE CAT... AS IF SHE'S REALLY BANGING OUT SOME DOPE DR. DRE TYPE SHYT!! LOLOL... 😂😂😂
I'm sorry but that was pretty bad. I did a number of solo pieces using Alternate Mode equipment, Akai and Roland samplers, Electriix Repeater, Lexicon Jamman, various tone modules, Korg Wavedrum, KAOSS pad, and many trigger pads and more to create pieces that would make this seem like kindergarten. How about Jan Hammer's pieces like Oh Yeah and Time is Free including his 144 note minimoog solo on one pad? This girl has a long long way to go. Her sound sources are pretty lame too.
sounds great, just VERY boring to watch. You are looping a lot of things with your great musicality but its just soo boring to watch... you know what I mean?
Even before playing any instrument, one should know how the instrument is actually played. I am very disappointed the way instruments like Tabla etc. is demonstrated. if you people don't know the Indian instruments, stop fiddling with these secret instruments. We Indians never like this type of nonsense. Hope the Western World Understands this.
Since Melissa was a guest performer from Roland, I;m guessing this entire thing was just to showcase what these Roland products can do. That's what I got out of this. The performance was not very entertaining otherwise.
And why was she so self-satisfied? It was LAME as hell! Not creative. Not musical. Not imaginative. Poorly executed. Poor decisions. I'd give her a passing grade of D. But only if I'm feeling gracious. I could EASILY fail her. Musical clip art at its worst.
TruthAndMoreTruth I haven't finished the video yet, but those pads are all of 100.00 apiece. I just saw them yesterday. Anything Roland is expensive, but it holds up real well and sounds good. The drum pad, probably under 1,000. Not sure what the pedals are. If that's one of their brain boxes, even the old ones are 3,000. That grey box I think is for a lower model Roland. It's not a horribly expensive setup. I agree with you about learning more about music...she would have a lot of feel, which is a b*tch to teach. I just dropped 820.00 on two acoustic cymbals for black Friday, so that's about Roland territory you know what it could use? A solid, constant backbeat. It would be danceable consistently. Bernard Purdie told me THAT'S what matters in drummimg. That, and making the people happy that write your friggin checks. Bernard is a character. lol. Smart, funny guy. VERY motivated by $$$. Quit Aretha for money.
So much careful thought, planning and production going into the possibilities and scale of what can be achieved with this set up that everyone forgot about what is really important... the MUSIC! All of that was so loose, dull and boring you would have emptied the room in a proper venue. No dynamics, no feel, no excitement and simply not entertaining! This isn't drumming it was more of a dj type of thing but with that said, if you went to a club and did THAT you would have your ass handed to you and would never play in that venue ever again.
Wow, quite a lot of anti-looping purists in the comments. I agree, this loop wasn't well done, but shit live looping can be a really, really amazing thing if you do it right. I am a solo musician who bases his entire 3-4 hour long repertoire on looping, sampling, and glitching those loops and such. But then again I make experimental music...I have lots of videos Anyways, this girl has skills and I'm sure she can drum circles around most of us...just look at the way she moves her hands. She's obviously good, just not the best looper-performer in my opinion
***** ok, sure, they were well done, but in the sense of a steak. They were cooked for way too long and you got sick of them real quick. That's not a good loop in my opinion.
She's creative but this just isn't for me at all. I love all types of percussion but this is just kind of a boring jumble of sound. Some of this stuff could be kind of fun to incorporate into your kit I guess...
Something different...something clever. Hard for some people to accept but if you want more "same old same old" there is plenty of that on RUclips too. This, was very well done and genuinely creative.
Michael Embley ..........or, is it?..........for me personally?.............no.
noodling! So much cool equipment, so little use of it!
Agreed. 3 minutes in I was still waiting for her to get down to business.
Well that didn't escalate quickly.
Yeah, boring as shit.
What on Gods green earth is this?
Great Joy!! Her creativity is her Divinity.
Mèlissa SHOULD be proud. She's certainly more talented than I am and more talented and creative than most if not all of you making these horrible comments. super talented
Very , very good your Electronic Setup , my dream one day is able to mount a Setup also only with Percussions Roland ! Turned his Fã
borrrrrringgggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Stop complaining. The purpose of this video is to show the abilities of the devices, not to show off any skills
Samuel Janzen If you read carefully she isn't a contestant. She is a guest artist, to show the products.
Have a good day, my good sir.
This makes me want to go play my TD-9 with my hands!!
This is very cool u could have your own gig just set the drums up on the side of it there u go very very good job
She starts to play at 5:07 and plays till 7:43
It's a drum comp. I hate this. Not her or her gig but at a drum comp I like to hear drums and drummers, not loopers. She'd probably win a loop comp.
Name of that thing?@1:00
that isnt even a drum contest
+Gabriel Paolo Rehawi You're right. It's a Roland V-Drum Contest. Just like it says in the title you clicked on.
the longest 13 minutes in my whole life.
Was it open mic night or something?
Superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :::::
There are plenty of devices there to make a very rhythmic show. Sadly, that did not happen.
am i playing a desert level in Zelda?!? Awesome performance!!
Cool setup, too many BT-1's, Very Unnecessary. Unique, but not a fantastic performance.
This is why we can't have nice things.
It was OK until she started doing weird stuff over it at the end. And did she at some point stop the entire playback?
This was a finalist? omg!
If you want to see a good female drummer check out Anika Nilles
Lucky Méli... Celle qui frappe plus vite que son ombre! Trop hot!
Virtuosity.
@8:39 that shit is dope!
Hammergeil respekt
I'd love to see any of the fools hating here create a live loop like this. Narrow minded fools content to be stuck in the last 100 years of music.
Fucking Hahahaha!! A child can do this! Is this your woman or sister? Hahaha!
FUCK off!
Looks like she can make a mean pizza doe !
6 minutes and still nothing
The Finals you say.... interesting. -_-'
Looping. Yawn.
What in the Big Creator's Milky Way am I watching? is this real life?
+Luiz Henrique Cunha P.S.: I'd tap that.
+Luiz Henrique Cunha P.S.: I'd tap that.

+nycjin816 if she didnt want people thinking about her like that she wouldnt wear hotpants and a see thru shirt...just sayin...
Dok Cutty right, same as when a woman wears revealing clothes she was asking to get raped right?

You are very skilled percussionist. Pay no attention to the "...tap that..." simple-minded earthling.
just wasted 13:32 seconds of my precious time.......n one of the most boring solo ive ever seen in my life
13:32 min = 812 seconds
I'm sorry but that was pretty bad. doink or boink
ehh.. got bored and went on to other videos.
Amazingly and brilliantly mediocre! Entry-level skills of this kind are something to be proud of?
I bet she can make a mean pizza doe !

Haters = jealous
+CHEAPTHRILLONTHETUBE maybe just... SHE IS BORING?????????
I'd probably be bored by things that excite you, so whatevs.
falling asleep
What a waste of time

Wht the fuck.......................................

what the fuck is this?
That's a lot of $ worth of gear for a third rate musician.
Someone get her a practice pad and cover some rudiments with her ASAP.

The Sunshine Group She didn't drum once.
I'm pretty sure she hit things in rhythm a couple times
+The Sunshine Group I beg to differ, her loops were done well as fuck.
***** ok, sure, they were well done, but in the sense of a steak. They were cooked for way too long and you got sick of them real quick. That's not a good loop in my opinion.
The Sunshine Group
You just broke every window of that glass house you are throwing rocks in, dude.
иди готовь борщ!)
psicodelic
nthis is nothind :(
No.
The instrument is good, that dose not mean it can be presented with a NON Sense presenter with an idiotic Demo.. Total nonsense.
She's creative but this just isn't for me at all. I love all types of percussion but this is just kind of a boring jumble of sound. Some of this stuff could be kind of fun to incorporate into your kit I guess...
..seems a little gimmicky for a drum competition? Go back to previous competitions and you'll see what I mean....Sorry
che palle. Tutto loop elettronico. La ragazza si muove al rallentatore.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
kinda crap.
It's like a broken compass - pointless
She's talented but this is not drumming. It's all looping samples.
not drumming
very boring! without depth! This is not music! artificial! Finally a sucker!
This is considered "drumming"?
Umm..no.
Got old right around 2 min. And doesn't even try to use any skill. Redundant with add on noise.
well that wasn't pretentious, hippy bullshit or anything...
Not impressive
Franchement c'est mauvais. Va falloir arrêter de frimer comme ça.
C'est vraiment pas terrible, c'est même mauvais la plupart du temps ...
Это извращение для ушей барабанщика.

Дерьмо!
Pretty bad.
