    Fantastic job! This is awesome! I’m planning on building this kit myself soon. Would you mind telling me what paints you used in the kit? I can’t seem to find a list of paint anywhere

    I know they gave names to the 4 big main guns of the Bismarck and I know 2 of them were called Dora and Antwaun but can someone tell me what the other 2 were called.

    Man even the model of this ship is absolutely massive then again the Bismarck was the largest battleship in the German navy they even said her secondary turrets were as big as the main gun on other ships man it's scary to think it could've been if the British armada failed to stop her and she got to a German controlled port France and was full repaired she really would've been unstoppable.

      Well yes, Bismarck, just as Scharnhorst and nearly all German dreadnought type battleships before her, had 15cm secondary gun turrets. It’s really not that impressive when you look at some of the things other nations planned (Britain planned on slapping 23.4cm guns onto a battleship as a secondary caliber, for comparison, 20.3cm is a heavy cruisers main armament)

    Haha so great. This looks cool..both model and video. How mich time did it take to make that stop motion video?

    • @basement.hobbyist
      @basement.hobbyist  Год назад +1

      Thanks! The video itself, once I had the pictures, took a couple hours but taking the pictures took about 14 months. A little bit of time here and there that sum up to 100s of hours... :)

      @@dermodellbaunoob Yeah, for the next video, I wanted something a bit faster so I am trying a stop motion of a Mega Block ProBuilder (Lego equivalent from about 20-30 years ago...). Nearly done on that one!

    Great work and great video! Why didn't you attach the wires between the masts/poles?

    • @basement.hobbyist
      @basement.hobbyist  Год назад +1

      Thanks! To be honest, they weren't included in the kit and I was too eager to edit the video and see how it looked. I'll probably buy some wiring eventually and attach the flags. Good observation ;)

    It looks like the paint is incomplete and sloppy as well. Also no decals at all. Is it a finished build?

    • @basement.hobbyist
      @basement.hobbyist  Год назад

      Fair enough. I was more focused on making the stop motion video. It is a first experience making plastic models for me ;), but they do take a while to do! I'll probably explore other types of modeling or miniature hobbies in the near future and we'll see if I come back to plastic models.

      @@basement.hobbyist Despite me sitting infront of my Bismarck not having started yet due to respect for the kit, I can give you some tips from other builds I´ve made on smaller scale, use an airbrush to smoothen the painting especially on such a large scale and if you have a brush you normally would throw away you might keep it as the few hairs it has left could be used for detailed painting such as anchorchains on a 1/720 shipmodel. They are also good if you want to give smaller models a camo pattern as they sometimes have a good shape if they are frayed for such things. Anyways for your first try not bad :-)

    Didn’t the bismarck have an “Adolf Hitler platz” at the end of the ship?
