There is a ton more scenes in part I that could be addresed from a medical stand point. like Joel falling into a tube (and the recovery after), or the torture scene. I really hope you get to those.
I appreciate my wife shouting "fire in the hole !!!" right before she unleashed a bass-heavy fart. It gave me time to dive behind the couch and take cover. 🤔... 👰😖💨🎶💩... 🛋️😳🤧 *"NUFF SAID"™️*
Damn, you were near to the part where Ellie reveals that she is immune to the infection, for me, it's a major medical information, if it is possible for a person to be genetically immune to an illness
It's active actually because she has a different real life strap n f the cordecyps as it is a FAMILY of fungi so if she has another strain that just weakens your immune system so she isn't genetically immune
I have a theory that Ellie might have a mutation in the type of receptor sites that the fungus uses to enter the cells. Maybe the receptor sites are just a little different so it can't easily infect the cell and also maybe the immune system is fighting it better. I'm not a immunologist so I can't say for sure.
The fungus in this game "Cordyceps" is actually a real thing that infects ants, reanimates them like zombies. They grow stems and stuff out their bodies just like when we see stalkers
You definitely have to do a second episode for this game. You missed most of the crazier injuries from later on in the game. For example getting impaled, a boss fight with a machete. Any of the visuals for when you lose to an infected in a fight. Later scenes with how Ellie fights. And so much more, this game and its sequel are packed to the brim with medical scenes.
I'd like to see your "Last of Us - Part 1" review of the university scene where Joel falls backwards from a second story walkway and lands on a rebar (probably rusty) that goes completely through his torso.
Definitely the 3 major scenes that should be looked at is Joel nearly dying after injuring himself from falling on a rebar, Joel torturing some cannibals during the winter chapter to find Ellie, and the medical plausibility of a cure being found through Ellie.
Currently playing the remake and I'm so used to that look, it makes the original almost look like a PS2 game. Still, it's damn impressive how much life, detail and realism they could put in it for the time it came out. Including those brutal injuries.
We need a part 2 of this video! There's a lot of brutal scenes throughout the game, and now that the remake is out, the game is looking better than ever (improved gore and its also brutal as hell too lol)
Would have loved to see you react to some of the death animations, the bloater ripping Joel's jaw open is one of the more hardcore ones. also the interrogation scene would have been awesome. hopefully you do a second look at this game, maybe even Part II
I was waiting for this! This game has been praised for not only it's story telling but also it's realism. There are so many medical scenes one of which refers to creating a potential vaccine for the fungus
There's a collectible note the player can find in The Last of Us Part II during a visit to a hospital that ... illustrates what normally happens to a person who gets infected. Very creepy reading. It's is called Patient's note - it is from the Ground Zero location, you can find pictures and the full text on the Last of Us fan wiki.
The fungus in this game is the real life Cordyceps fungus that normally infects ants and insects, but it jumped to humans in this game, becoming a zoonotic illness. And Ellie is immune to the fungus.
There's actually a really good injuries that happen in cutscenes throughout this game you'd have fun explaining plus the opening death of his daughter is pretty impactful even from a emotional point ps keep up the good work I started med school just wasn't able finish financially so these things I find extremely interesting
3:10 This is why palm strikes are a thing. The dense carpal bones at the base of the palm will deal almost as much damage but won't break if you screw up the hit like your fingers will. Also, if you step into it a swing is both easy to land and delivers a massive amount of force so it'll turn their head, smack their brain on the inside of their skull and they'll wake up in a couple seconds on the ground with no idea where they are, what they were doing or what their name is.
The scariest part of the game is that it's a giant "what if" sort of situation. From what I remember, the infection is from a fungus called "Cordyceps" that is limited to insects, arachnids, small creatures like them. This was all "What if this parasite managed to jump over the species barrier and infect humans?"
The Cordyceps in The Last Of Us initially causes the host to be in partial in control and aware and as such they are either attacking others OR they try to get away from others so as not to hurt others since the fungus is overriding their functions to attack to spread the infection into new hosts. As it progresses the host's cognition degrades until the host is left uncontrollably feral and aggressive. Eventually the Cordyceps degrades the visual senses and the eyes get grown over, resulting in the Clicker which are more receptive to sound. Regardless of the Infected type they eventually degrade to the point the body is non-functioning and it just falls and becomes a bed of fungus that spreads spores to continue propagating the Cordyceps, as such those who breathe in the spores become infected. Hence the gas masks.
There is a pbs kids show called wild kratts. Its about a group of zoololygists who study animals, and of course get hurt in the process here are some medical scenes In “Gila Monster Under My House” Zach gets bitten by a Gila monster In “A Huge Orange Problem” Koki Jimmy and Aviva get sore muscles by swinging on vines to much and Martin and Chris use special leaves to help them In “Aarvark Town” Chris gets poked by a porcupine In “Flight of the Draco “ Chris crashes into a tree
Maybe react to live-action DC movies?: 2022 The Batman- Batman escaping from GCPD and got hurt while gliding Shazam- Car crash scene in the beginning of the movie Aquaman- Submarine fight scene or Aquaman vs. Black Manta scene etc.
You raise a good point with the punching in this game. Having played through it a few times, realistically speaking, Joel's hands should be mush with how much he throws them. Would've been a good idea for the devs to include brass knuckles as an unlockable or something like that.
As 7:07 when you mentioned rigor mortis, I had no idea that was a thing until recently when I found my dad that had died the night before and he felt stiff when I grabbed his wrist
All I wanna see is either the point where Joel gets skewered in the university, or the Bloater death scene. Or anything to do with Bloaters or Clickers
My Grandad’s Ears were Damaged from the Guns When he was in the Army back in the 70’s and 80’s, but Despite Losing A lot of His Hearing from the Guns, he always Came Home Completely Physically Unharmed Despite He was in the Army for About 25 Years
This is a random suggestion... thinking of this cuz my dad is a lifelong fan, but how about NASCAR injuries? For example- Dale Earnhardt Sr. Died of basilar skull fracture on the last lap of a race, meanwhile another racer (cant think of his name right this second) had the same or very similar injury but survived (but his racing suit was completely soaked with blood... very surprisingly he survived!) There's obviously lots of crashes in NASCAR but there hasnt been a facility since 2001 with Dale Earnhardt Sr Or there is a compilation of non-fatal crashes but that may be hard to do from a medical perspective with just the crashes 🤷♀️ just a suggestion!
There is a big scene where Joel sustain a horrible injury to his body when he fell off the second floor and Ellie had to do everything in her power to save him. This includes her having to go off on her to find medical supplies.
There's a scene in this game where Joel falls an entire floor and lands back first on a sharp piece of metal. It ended up piercing right though his back and out his stomach area. Joel survived, but he was bleeding out badly, and Ellie ended up needing to tend to his injuries for most of the winter seasons.
There is a vip rescue mission in battlefield (2/4? Forgot), and during the opening part, you run over a person crossing the street. (Not actually running over, but the car just no-clips through him.)
