I don't know why but I always love seeing games being made for actual retro consoles in the modern era.
why, there some kinda time limit for making games for whatever console or device you want? no.
Wish they would do something to signify that it's a modern game. Some of this stuff makes me think I missed out on a hidden gem until I realize it's modern.

The sprites of the character is similar to the Wonder Boy franchise and mixed with the mechanics of Mega Man X and it looks very good, excellent new game for our beloved Mega Drive.
I see ristar basic programs in there.
I love these new homebrews I'm seeing left and right these days! They look fantastic, and I love that people somehow decided to start developing games for retro consoles again. Other than this game, there's also this cute C64 game made by some really talented people a few years ago, and, of course, Micro Mages, which is one I quite love.

At the start I thought to myself "Well, this looks... fine. But it's missing something."
Once you obtained the wall jump ability, it definitely felt like the missing piece. Looks like a good game!

I like it... A LOT! amazing sprite work. Love the emotes on the first boss when hit and his poses during the battle. Looking forward to the next update, but this build so far is solid and fun!

Game looks great. Music by the awesome Toni Leys! Only annoying thing I take away from this demo, is the stumbling audio sometimes, but I asume that will be fixed.
I would say it's more than "sometimes", the music/sounds seem to regularly stutter/crackle and break up. They might be using a custom sound driver that's perhaps a bit too heavy for the 68000/not optimized well. Reminds me of my experience using early Genesis emulators on older PCs in the late 90's.

This is actually really good! The music in the first level is oddly familiar though.
There's a certain part in the theme that gives really strong "Up Where We Belong" vibes.

Dang. This legit looks like a lost Sega Genesis game. It takes elements of Sonic the Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes, Mega Man X, and a bit of Super Metroid and makes a uniquely cool looking action platformer game.

Game looks cool, has a very Megaman vibe, character design is very appealing. I'll admit I don't especially like the chibi-ish big head in game sprites, would prefer something more along the lines of gu star heroes, but that's just personal preference. Definately one to keep an eye out for.
This genesis game is on GBA quality. These graphics for this fan game is definitely up to modern standards with sprite games.

Feels like a sonic mega man mix. Regardless, number 1 really good music, number 2 massive respect to anyone who does this. The mechanics seem well done and controls responsive. Good job.

Wow this opening portion of the first level music reminds me a LOT of the Xeno Crisis opening music.
Love all the graphics, but the hand when shooting forward bothers me. It feels like the thumb should point up or it need more index finger base.

Somebody had already attempted to fuse Sonic and Megaman. It became known as Pulseman - 1994 video game released only in japan developed by creators of Pokemon.

You know the sound composer / designer is extremely talented when they manage to make the Genesis sound good.
What? The YM2612 is more than capable of producing absolutely amazing music and sound FX. If a composers music sounds bad on the MD it's either due to them being a poor composer, being lazy/rushed, them not being able to write their own sound driver or a combination of the above.
@@TurboNutterBastard in theory, yes. In pratcice, most Genesis music sounded like shit. Quite literally, it sounded like music played inside a toilet bowl.
Why does the minion have such a long death animation? It should just explode, like the rest of them. Having his sprite remain on screen for two seconds after death just needlessly confuses the player.
