Damn that’s good for you bro .. My detailer got cracked a lil bit since then it haven’t been cutting sharp like before I guess is because of that cracked ☹️
Among all other videos on how to take of clip and spring, this is most clearly defined, thank you, you saved my trimmer, otherwise I would have broken plastic part as I was pushing on it hard.
Thanks a million !! Earlier I was fighting so hard with my detailer and couldn't understand why the spring wouldn't hold in its place. You video really helped me. I know I have to buy another one now!
I got the same wahl detailer with the same situation. I take to my basement and I drill a very tiny hole exactly on the hook area. I invented the hook with a small thinner piece of metal, and with a tiny screw I hold it in place. I will love to send you a picture.
Bro i clicked on this videofor a difrent problem but the way u showed the detailes u fixed my problem i been havin since the first time i dismanteled mine detailer tnx bro i gave u a tumb up
Drill a smal hole (same size of the screw) at place of the hook (in the center) tightened the spring with a small screw form broken children toys. But don't tighten too much. I do that every time the hook broke. Your videos are very informative, keep up the good work.
Soon as you turned on the trimmer I knew the problem. This problem happens with all Wahl Detailers until Wahl made an all metal cast and hook piece that fixed the problem
@@raiderkendall Thanks for the response, brother. Yes, I saw that the packages were the newer ones. Although, I also saw that the retailer was selling the "Classic" model, too. I think, if I'm not mistaken, the old ones, Classic, didn't have the 5-Star logo on the upper, front part of the trimmer's casing. However, besides the metal cast, which thanks to you now I'm aware of, I was especially worried about the plastic screw holders. I've heard that just by the usual opening and fastening the screws, those plastic holders would break. So, I don't know if Wahl has changed these to metal ones as well in the newer iterations. Also, which one do you think it's better longevity- and power-wise, the corded or the cordless Detailer? Would appreciate it to hear your opinion/experience.
@@theFaramarz Imo longevity wise the electric corded ones will always win because cordless always will have some issue that needs fixing. With corded as long as you keep it oiled and blade sharpened it can last years,..
@@raiderkendall Yes. The one thing that piqued my intrest regarding the cordless Detailer was that, on paper, its motor is stronger by 1800rpm. They both have rotory motors; but on the corded is 5000rpm, whereas on the cordless is 6800rpm. Other than that, everything you mentioned is correct and I share the same opinion, brother. So, that on-paper power difference has been the main cause of my dilemma between choosing one over the other. If their power (motor) had been the same, corded would've been an easy choice for me. Cause, as you also mentioned, longevity should be on the side of the corded. Have you also tried the cordless Detailer to compare its power with the corded one? Maybe in real life, they're on the same level, power-wise?
Thank you for the help. That indeed was the problem and I need to get a new set of trimmers. Crazy thing is I have dropped these clippers plenty of times 😅. Never knew something so small would cause such a problem. Any suggestions on a cordless trimmer that cuts just as good?
This is the exact problem I have. I took it apart before I watched this put it back together and was like wtf why is this tension piece just floating around there is no way to get it tight…. Bammmm now I know why. Thanks for confirming it’s busttted :(
Thanks from France dude really helpful video , i had the same symptoms (noise and cutless) but at the end of the day it was only a matter of lubrication! 👍🏾
I had my wahl 5 star detailer for about a year and unfortunately the same exact lip broke on mine. I can't find a new original rear/lower cover anywhere in stock. And doing a ton of research I found out this rear/lower cover has been updated, and for the updated version you have to buy a metal piece that replaces that old plastic lip design. Problem is, I can find a new updated cover, but I can not find the required cast spring tension piece anywhere in stock. Any ideas on what I can do? I loved my detailer and just want to get it back running again.
@@raiderkendall Thank you for the reply man! At the time I asked this question, the metal cast and hook screw was out of stock literally everywhere. After a few weeks of me periodically checking, all of the sudden vip barber supply had them in stock again so I ordered 2 of those, 1 rear cover, and a new blade set! I can't wait to get to use my detailer again, beard and hairline about to be on fleek!😁
How can i tell if my motor is real or fake, mines doesnt look like yours, the brand says "Johnson" and the logo appears as cRUus" where the "RU" is written backwards.
Mines isn't noisy. Its quiet and cutting dull after letting someone borrow them. I don't know if they dropped them or what. Its like the motor is all of a sudden weak out of nowhere.
My detailer won't cut the same I installed them wrong. I put them on wrong. I feel like something is to tight and the motor and is not spinning as much
