I ,at 72 yrs did not fully realise Slim had such a unique voice and style !! But I do now!? What happened us, is that we were 'swept' away by all the new singers and only NOW realise thegreatness of Slim Whitman, and all his songs ...RIP .
The greatest singer of all time slim Whitman, I always shed a tear every time I hear the golden voice of my idol slim, and now he is in heaven duetting with the queen of country music Patsy Cline and everyone in heaven are waltzing to there music Sleep in peace slim Sleep in peace Patsy
Glenn Johnson listening to Slim and his music sixty years ago,got me where i am today, singing and yodelling professionally. Thanks to him and my father teaching me the guitar, life is a complete joy. Thanks for the help and inspiration.
I was so sorry to hear he passed away a while back. He was my first favorite singer when I was about 5 years old and it lasted for many years. We were fortunate to get to know him as he was a fine fellow. Oh... He was also the first male that I ever thought of as good-looking and that was when I was about 7 years old! :-) True! I'm almost 71 now, btw.
Silm inspird me decades back to play more country music in my sets when I played out and you've got to admire his styings. He was an independent thinker and performer. And, someway, it became pop culture today to chuckle at Slim's music but, make your choice, the rap crappers or Slim.....'lll take Slim anytime. On top of that just check out total sales! Outstanding.
It's hard to comprehend why this man's talent is often lampooned these days (the movie Mars Attacks - for example) - he has an amazing voice... very unique...
I'm 76 also and do the very same thing. Guess it's knowing we are soon on the way "out" and we cherish those memories. It's g oing to be left for the young ones to keep this music alive for all generations. Check out Ray Stevens-Indian Love Call-the one with the two lions showing on the side of the page where it lists the songs.
I will always regret I missed an opportunity to meet Slim Whitman. I worked for a music store that sponsered dances years ago. Slim Whitman, Sue Thompson, and Roy Clark, on one show.. I spent my time after the show with Sue Thompson. Why? We were already friends for several yrs and the show was in my home town
Thanks for the comment wim28061950. The reason is that, I only wanna share the beautiful music without any visual that will distract the focus of listeners in this beautiful piece and as well in my other uploads.

We lost Slim today at 90. Among his millions of fans were Elvis, MJ and George Harrison. This one hurts. Adios Mr. Whitman.
He's amazing. I grew up listening to him on Tampa radio in the 1950's.
