Fun nostalgic fact! My daughter was a Pooh Baby! I remember the Disney Store in our local mall and I picked up those little hard cover books with each of the main characters having their own books. And it came in a little case. My daughter, now 28, still has those books! And the Pooh+Piglet blanket that was dragged everywhere! 😅
🥺🥰🥺🥰 I love those memories! That tower of stuffed animals in the Disney Store was so fun. We gave that store a lot of money over the years! They gave our family great memories in turn, just like yours!❤️❤️
I enjoyed this review. The only Derwent pencils I have is a set of 12 Inktense Pencils. My Dad was a Sign Painter and artist. He loved Disney. When we were kids he painted the Disney characters on our bedroom walls in Minnesota. His love of art influenced me as well. Thank you sharing your memories with us. 😊❤
The Inktense are great, aren’t they?! Your dad was really special! Lettering and sign painting is something I have always greatly admired. My mom had a LeRoy Lettering system for drafting but the painted signs and windows when we were kids…those were a sight to see, weren’t they?😍 Growing up with Disney characters on your bedroom walls must have been awesome! I bet you were the coolest kids on the block!😁🥰🥰 Thanks for sharing your great childhood memories as well👩🏻🎨❤️👩🏻🎨
WHATTTT?!?!! How did I not know they even had a pencil museum?!?! Becky, if I lived closer to you I would go with you and we could combine forces to convert your partner to an art supply nerd just like we are😂😂❤️ Have a really fun time!!
Wow! They are very different to the eye, but I think you said they felt similar going down on the page? I’m glad you enjoy Derwent as I have so many of their products and I know you do too. I really enjoyed watching Winnie come to life! That weird black came over as a muddy green on my iPad screen. Not sure if everyone else also saw what you saw. I now have matchsticks propping open my eyelids, and so I bid you good night from a chilly 1.40am here in Scotland. Brrrr… 🥶🎨🖌️👩🏻🎨💜💜
Hello my friend! I hope you’re sound asleep and peaceful in dreamland as I write this! We had snow today but it was very lightly coming down & only stuck to the grass, then melted when the sun finally came out in the afternoon. In any light, that Academy Black is simply NOT black! Very weird. They do feel similar on this paper-but the pigment lay down is quite different!
Thanks for adding your thoughts! I will! I typically use 100% cotton hot press watercolor paper but I found this sketchbook on the shelf and wanted to keep working in it🫶🏼 I will be sure to try the vellum!

You might want to try Bristol vellum , it's a softer surface and has some tooth allowing you to build up layers better than on the smooth ..,

It does look like dark green too, to me Anne.
Thanks, Laura! Isn’t that crazy?
